The Worst Mistake Most Anglers Make With Whopper Plopper Colors… 

Caught my pb 8lb on a black one a few weeks ago

I purchased the smallest whopper Plopper in bone color. No bites at all. So I took a black magic maker and the next day fishing at the same spot, caught 8 bass, 1 to 2 pounders. If you take rubbing alcohol, you can clean off the lure. So now I took red and put dots all over it. Again, lots of perch and bass. I now have multiple colors of permanent markets and love how I can add colors to my lures. Up next, no more white bellies on my frog lures.

My 4 colors are Loon (black), Bone, Munky Butt, and Delta Craw. And you're right, fish don't hit it as often, but it is great for covering lots of water to find them... you can always see the tell-tale swirl when they come up to check it out but dive back down. That's when you know where they're at, and then slow down & start targeting.

Really like the frog color along outside edges of grass beds & lily pads...of course being a lure junkie, i have all the colors

Was out on Headwaters in FL, and you’d think it would be a top water haven given on the vegetation, mats, pads, etc…. But, I couldn’t buy a top water bight this week. Although, I’ve been getting on the water late (post 7:30a) with the sun up. But, that’s a great fishery, and the conditions seemed perfect with all the mini pops going on all around you. Did well, just no with top waters. I think in a place like FL, especially with the absolutely oppressive heat wave we just had, it makes the fish lethargic. The one’s I did catch, you had to bounce the bait off their noses. And, rarely do I do well with top-water in tannic colored lakes, which is primarily what Headwaters is. Strangely enough, I saw Roland Martin out there every single day.

I have a couple of these, never caught a thing on top water😂

Need to come out with a smaller one a mini.

Hey Randy, Great video. I'm having problems with my Ploppers rolling over on the retrieve. How do you fix that? I use swivels on all of my Whopper Ploppers to save my line from twist, but still get rollover and I think it causes fish to miss the hooks.

My first time trying the loon in front of some reeds, you could see those bass come out of their cover and explode on the lure. I must of caught about 4 in the same spot. I was wondering if the spikeit markers are permanent on the hard plastic or should I use the Sharpies.

Has anyone ever cut the cupped tail to a smaller size.

Any recommendations on what size whopper plopper i should get bc i could only find a 1 ounce size at the store i was at bc they were all out on the color but it seems too big

Go get yer 'Ploppers, all colors, go out lay in the grass, hold em up at arms length, so their silhouetted against the sky. Now tell me what general color you see. And remember, bass dont have blue color cones in their eyeballs.
