"the angels have one of the best players in the game" as he zooms in on ohtani skipping Mike Trout who is literally on pace to become the greatest baseball player to ever live. not your fault though, mlb has no idea how to market their stars.
Im in San Diego. A few years ago when the Padres weren't that good, I would buy the $9 seats on a warm summer night and basically sit in right field and be all alone. I'd get myself some peanuts, hot dog and beer and just relax. There wouldn't be anyone around me. Those were the good ol days.
I still remember watching games at Candlestick as a kid on TV. I'll never forget the hot dog wrappers clinging to the chain link outfield fence on a windy day. 😊
I recently went to a game and moved from the lower bowl to the upper deck to see different views and the usher kicked me out of a fairly empty section because my ticket wasn’t for that section and I was told to go to my seats in the lower bowl.
@@Rangers242 It all depends on the stadium. Some enforce while others are lenient. But now I know Angels stadium is lenient with no ushers in the upper decks then it rates an "A" imo. Cue drums.
@BagoPorkRinds We do that at Mariners games, though they normally do have ushers at every entrance. I don't know how strict they really are, but I've actually gotten into the Terrace Club level, twice, without paying for it. I think those seats are going for $70 this season.
The area in center field with no seats is common at all stadiums and is referred to as the "batter's eye." It helps the batter have a clearer look at pitches.
The one at Angels Stadium is wider than a normal batter's eye in part because of the football seats they ripped out when they renovated Anaheim Stadium back in the late 90s. This was after the Rams left town for St. Louis...if you can believe that ever happened.
@@bas3q Makes sense. What's also interesting about that stadium is that beneath the field is a layer of soil (not sure how thick, but from what I understand it's not more than around 8-10"), and then it's concrete. This provides an added challenge to the grounds crew because they aren't able to push the grass roots as deep as they would like to in order to better withstand the stress of gameplay and other activities on the field throughout the year. The positive though is that field is Bermuda grass and that stuff can survive just about anything.
Very true because home fans were know to put on a white wind breakers/shirts during the opposing teams at bat so it was harder to see the pitch coming in and then take them off during their team's at bat!
That green area in center field is called “the batters eye area” Gives the batter a place to clearly pickup the white ball. I think some ballparks have different colors there but that’s the idea. That’s for the game day experience. Looks like something I might enjoy.
This is so much fun. I’m from Japan and would love to watch Ohtani play, and when I get the chance to go to the US and watch a game in the Angels stadium I would surely know my way already 😂 so, Thank you🙇♀️
And I’d kill to watch a Hanshin Tigers game, my grandpa was lucky enough to watch NPB when he went to Hiroshima in 2012 while helping some marines but i forgot if it was a tigers game or not
@@padre619 lol easy there tiger let’s not kill anybody okay? But it’s not too late you could still watch it if you come here, which is totally you can if you will. I hope both of our dreams come true.
Im an A’s fan so i see the A’s play the angels a lot here in oakland. Ohtani usually is quiet against the A’s and dosent have his typical games so i havent seen him do anything spectacular yet
Try the worst seat at fenway park, you'll be on a hard seat behind a pole, obstructed view baby. Thanks for showing me around Angels stadium. Edit: Those still cost $45
Trick is to catch a game thats not packed, i recently had 40 dollar centerfield bleacher seats at fenway and just went and sat in box seats a few rows behind the dugout with no issues
@@MikeJones-rh4xk try citi field ushers don’t even check for tickets at field level I buy last minute 8 dollar tickets and sit at empty seats behind the dugout
My father really loved watching baseball live. He said he wasn’t much into the game but the atmosphere is what he really enjoyed and would always be at one . He would attend the local high school, college and professional ones. RIP pops
This was a fun video to watch. I'm a diehard Yankees fan but I love baseball in general. It's still my dream to see a game at every MLB stadium. Thanks for the tour, never been here (just gone by on the freeway and saw the giant A) but it's a beautiful stadium. Glad you had fun and I hope you didn't get sunburned!
That’s funny because 501/401 has been my new go-to section this year, especially for day games. Vantage point over absolutely everything, and the shade comes down to even the lowest seats, not long after game start. The breeze is really nice and cool. No one sits around there on day games. Sometimes stoners hang out near the bathrooms. 😆
That dove has a death wish apparently! I remember, so vividly, watching a game on TV when I was a kid (I loved baseball when I was younger), Randy Johnson was pitching for the Diamondbacks and BOOM! A puff of feathers. What the HECK?! The announcers were confused at first, no one knew what they actually just saw. He pitched a fastball right into a dove! And it pretty much exploded and the body just vanished upon impact, turned into a cloud of feathers and bird particulate matter. Morbid, but fascinating to say the least. I'll always have that etched into my memory. Haha
Some might say “look at that guy all by himself talking to the camera. What a weirdo!” Little do they know that nearly 60,000 people on average are joining you everyday, everywhere you explore. That’s the way I look at it. Pretty awesome feeling.
@@TheDailyWoo YES YOU DO, I look forward to hanging out with you every day just like I did WAY BACK almost 15 years ago! I've since switched my youtube name to my first name, and have my wife watching you daily as well as both of our kids watch your Disney content when that pops up as well. I can't express how captivating your content is and being from the north east part of new england we don't get many trips out to ORLANDO or ANAHEIM Because we don't have the best of incomes between the two of us but It would be so cool to run into you in the parks one day and possibly join you on mine train to go Goat spotting, or maybe a tour along the Jungle cruise.... Heck it! maybe a vist to thank the Phoenicians on Spaceship earth. Also wouldn't mind a nice cruise on the people movers on either coast.... or eventually getting back on the matterhorn to say hello to Harold. Its been far too long. 😪 I just don't have the cashflow like I did before fatherhood.... Praying one day to bring my kids back home to disney no matter the coast. Just need to save enough funds to afford the room park hoppers food & beverages, and lastly maybe a few keepsakes/ souvenirs. Stay blessed Adam 🙏🏽 God bless you and your family.
@@TheDailyWoo oh yeah you surely do,I’m a southwest Chinese guy, sitting on my couch while chilling and smoking to cheering Ohtani’s home run, somehow you’re functioning as my eyes right now .
There's something about baseball that hits different. Maybe it's the nostalgia behind it. Even if it's not your number 1 favorite sport I feel like most people would enjoy a night out at the ball park. I wish Tropicana field was a little bit closer to Orlando, like Tampa as opposed to St. Pete. Makes getting out to games harder for me.
@@nicholasfrancis2627 Literally impossible because Yankee stadium can hold 3x more people lmfao that’s why a concert at Yankee stadium is louder than at MSG
Uber Eats obviously a baseball stadium holds more people bozo but msg is 10x louder then yankee stadium even if the knicks have a busted ass team just saying. Take it from someone whos been to msg and yankee stadium more than a couple times the last decade.
@@nicholasfrancis2627 Yeah you’re talking to a guy who has done the same as I mentioned at the start…lmfao and I’m talking as a Knicks fan who hasn’t followed baseball since 2010 but has been going to games just for the fun of it. If it’s hard for you to comprehend basically it would make more sense for me to be biased towards MSG
Eh, if you're willing to walk across the stadium. You can pay $5 and not worry so much about leaving. Because you know what it's like when everyone is leaving and getting out at the same time. It's a zoo!
@aaa Woah, what? Angels Stadium is pretty middle of the pack. Tropicana Field, Oakland Coliseum, Guaranteed Rate Field, Chase Field, Rogers Centre all exist and you think The Big A is a bottom 5 ballpark? The fan experience is great, and Disneyland is 5 minutes away if you’re trying to make a day out of it.
I think the reason for the turf in center field is actually just to have a solid background for the batter. A lot of stadiums have solid background there so that the ball doesn't blend into a mixed background :)
Thanks for showing us around the Angels ballpark!! I probably will never get the opportunity to see a game there… I love baseball and I appreciate this post!! ⚾️❤️
I’ll tell ya, this video goes full circle! You filmed it on National Ice Cream Day, you brought up Dare-E Queen and their mini helmets, it’s your parents wedding anniversary today and it also happens to be National Hot Dog Day, the perfect ballpark treat. Stellar vlog!
I laughed very hard when the crowd was cheering for you to eat your hotdog. Also didn't realise you did voiceovers, was wondering how you were talking without moving your mouth in some shots.
The Los Angeles Angels translates to "The The Angels Angels". A double name. "There's something really relaxing about a baseball game..." You can definitely say that again! Watching baseball is relaxing for me, never boring, I have never been stressed out watching a game, and just plain fun! I have yet to do an Angel's game, but I have been to their minor league affiliate's games many times. Hopefully in September when I finally have a trip to Disneyland planned I can hit a game with my wife and sons. Great video Adam! It has sure brought some perspective to the stadium and has made me want to attend a game there even more! Thank you!
The turfed off seating area in Center Field is for the Batter's eye. I think stadiums are required to have some sort of a clear batter's eye so when batting at the plate, they can see the pitch clearly without moving fans, or worse, people in Center Field trying to distract the batter with gleam off the eye using metal objects, laser pointers, etc,,,
Great Video. Dang I haven’t been to an Angels home game since it was still called Edison field lol, early 2000s. Was an old school 90s California Angels Fan in the JT Snow and Chili Davis Days, then became a die hard Ducks fan the last 20 years or so, now getting back into the Angels because of Ohtani.
Went to the Angel's many times Adam and bought the cheap seats. In the second half just went down to the pitch side seats use to do it all the time. One time got right behind home plate ssssh don;t tell anyone. Just love the night games, that's when it gets crazy with the crowds and the game. Great vlog Adam brought back a lot of memories thank you.
I went to an Angels game in 1993 and our tickets cost $1. Our seats were next to a large group of special needs adults from a group home and it was an entertaining night.
This video, while entertaining, shows exactly why baseball attendance is on the rapid decline: pricing. The big appeal of baseball used to how cheap it was to attend a game. It didn't matter your income level, anyone could afford to go. I remember the days when my hometown of Tucson, Arizona had the minor league affiliate for the Diamondbacks, the Tucson Sidewinders, and general admission tickets were less than $9. You could sit anywhere you wanted in the stadium. I miss the old days of baseball.
Back in the days my parents always bought us the cheap seats because we had a big family they were just glad to be at a game 😀 my brothers loved the game and I loved the nachos 🤣
Right on Adam the Woo you said Hotdog or dog about 10 times. Liked how you moved around the stadium for seating. Great vlog your hilarious RU-vidr bro! I'm about 2 hour and half drive North of Seattle. Miss the States.
