​@@RomanvonUngernSternbergnrmfvusits not the studs that do that, they are just the cheapest way of bolting more ceramite on to the armor. If we want to be pedantic mk 3 has more armour and it isn't just "duct taped" on.... mk5 is till cooler looking though.

@@oga-booga could have sworn the studs were a direct measure to respond to the heresy rounds that the traitor legions were using, kinda like the extend armor on old current day armor when military forces have to use obsolete gear against shape charges.

The production types are made using lesser materials and relying on bonding studs, and designed to be built as fast as possible, the non-production types are from the thrown together salveable parts of other suits partly destroyed. Yeah, it's not terrible, but compared to any other suit except for maybe mk1, it's the worst. It's not truly modular because parts have to be reworked and retooled to fit it on an ad-hoc basis. If it were modular, all marks would be, but we know only 2 with 3, and 6 with 7 (And 8 to some degree) are truly modular with each other.

@@Hatypus Ironically the MKV might have the best standard helmet since its from a failed varient of Terminator armor so if nothing else your head will be well protected.

@@Nostroman_Praetor That's only the most common helmet on production types, and even then there's probably some gripes that could be had. The terminator design was a failed design afterall, for example. The helmet might not properly integrate with non-terminator armour, it might be designed with weaker flanks and rear since terminator armour usually surrounds much of the helmet, etc.

then the helmet design gets adopted by Loyalists refined, streamlined and becomes the standard astartes helmet for nearly 10 thousand years only getting replaced by an upgraded Mark IV helmet for the super marines created by a bullshit tech priest.

Yes and no. Erubus was one of the main conspirators and in many ways the mastermind behind brining the primarchs to chaos, but he didn't do it with just temptation and a clever toungue. In Horus's case, Erubus had a group of chaos cultusts manage to stab him with a corrupted nurgle blade while he was out on campaign. The damage done was not only pbysical, but spiritual. Horus went comatose for awhile and in an act of desperation, his legion allowed for a local shamen, from the same planet, to use "magic" to heal him. In reality it left a wound on his soul that made him vulnerable to the corrupting influence of chaos. This was the crucial step that made it possible for the greatest son of the emperor to be corruptable to begin with. This is obviously a very simplified version of the events that happened in the book, but this is as basic as I can make it! Hope it helped. People often blame Erubus for the entirety of the Heresy, but they're giving him too much credit. He was a big factor, but still just one more part of a much larger and complex scheme.

@@HalfGiant_101 Not necessarily. There were other astartes doing the same thing in their own legions. It's better to think of him as a catalyst of sorts. He was absolutely instrumental and essential. But once he played his role, he was cast aside. Just like a pawn. Reading the books does a great job of showing this in a way that you won't get from just the wiki or lexicon.

@@shadow-monger5189 I didn’t use wiki or lexicon. I saw him in a video by “Weshammer”. He recently has a video that explores Erebus’s origins, his motives, and even why he believes he’s justified in everything he has done.

@@HalfGiant_101 I don't know who that is, but I'm sure his video is accurate. There's a lot of lore. But I still recommend reading the books. That's the best place for all the lore and they are genuinely a great read. ... just br sure to get used copies lol. GW's asking price is asinine.

Ackchually it is not very popular in 40k and most "civilized" chapters got rid of their leftovers simply because it is such a powerful icon of the imperium's darkest hour, also it is still the main suit worn by most traitor marines.
