I hold the record in Desert Bus with a score of 10.000 since 1995 and the way I did it was to shift into 2nd gear befor the game started up, engaged the clutch and gave my bus gas.

There is one category of guitar hero speedrunning thats actually cool, "full setlist fc any speed" where you can speed up the songs however fast you can handle and need to 100% all of them, it really removes the autoscroll effect and gives a lot more skill to the run. Randyladyman has a great run on youtube to give an example.

Joke categories should be judged by entertainment value rather than technical execution, in the same way that TAS runs often are. That doesn't mean they're not bad runs, but if they manage to crack a smile, I'm willing to say that it validates their existence.

I can't say for certain, but the skill in a walking dead speedrun woolf likely be mapping out the best possible route to minimize the amount of time wasted in "autoscroller" dialogue, memorizing each decision in that optimal path, and choosing them quickly. Doesn't sound all that bad.

I mean, with games like The Walking Dead and Until Dawn, the strategy comes not from execution, but route planning. Still boring as shit though.

The only good category of Guitar Hero Speedruns is FC Speedruns, where you need to FC every song in the game and if you miss a note you have to restart the song

I’ve seen some people do guitar hero speedruns where they have to fc each song. It really is clutch when they get ttfaf on their like 3rd try or something. There’s also a category where you can speed up the song as much as dare, and you have to pass it. Some songs deadass go to 350%

Don't forget that some people are literally speedrunning FNaF.

There's a version of the Guitar Hero speedrun that people play on Clone Hero (Modded Guitar Hero) where you have to complete all songs in the game, but in this modded version you can alter the playback speed of any song up to 1000%, so there is actually a challenge in choosing a fast speed for a song to get through the game faster, while also making sure not to have it go so fast that you fail.

One of the most painful speedrun to watch is "getting over it" as it is intentionally flexing on us on how they finish it in 1 minute and 30 below seconds.

The opener of speedrunning Clue is one of my favorite things ever.

Really funny and informative. Never even heard of some of these games. Couldn't have guessed that they were speedrun.

Dead Rising: The game is based on a timer so it will always take a certain amount of time until Overtime Mode starts. One of the strats involves getting kidnapped by the special forces and purposely getting knocked out over and over again All of the speedrun strats require you to activate as few cutscenes or loading screens as possible because the timer is stopped until the cutscene or loading screen ends. Dead Rising 2: Same as the original. You just stare at your watch most of the time until you can progress in the story. Gone Home: The speedrun involves walking forward, picking up a key, walking into the attic, and then reading a journal to end the game. It takes about 45 sceonds. Phoenix Wright: Endless menuing. Most text-based games are pretty awful as well because they only involve picking the quickest ways to end the conversation.
