@@TheMoody876did you know, the 1976 Cadillac ElDorado had an 8.2L V8 that made 28HP/L (assuming the 235HP rating is real, and not with open headers and no accesories). Volkswagen was more like 46HP/L on the normal 1.6L Golf, or even 67HP/L on the GTi
@dantevito1193 usa emission standards vs the technology at the time was the leading cause. But also auto manufacturers advertised lower horsepower numbers than the engines actually made for insurance purposes. 235hp might of been what was advertised but it could of been tested at 2500 rpm where peak horsepower was closer to 5000 rpm.
@@TheMoody876 5000rpm? From that boat engine? Doubt it. And they tested them with no restriction and no load from accesories. More modern example: LS1, 5.7L and 305HP, so 53HP/L from what's supposed to be a "sporty" engine. The BMW S50B32, 3.2L and 321HP, slightly over 100HP/L. And Honda had 100HP/L since the B16A in 1989.
Wouldn't it make less power if it was a 1946 engine (i think that was the oldest Automation allowed), it had a compact intake, and a second reverse flow muffler?
Hey there! So I was messing around with a very similar setup and somehow got 24.8HP by: 1. using Unleaded 85 RON fuel 2. reducing the max RPM to 2000RPM (not sure if that matters) 3. reducing the exhaust diameter to 25.4mm and using Three-way catalytic converter with dual Reverse Flow mufflers 4. using Cast Heavy conrods and Cast Heavy pistons It's pretty strange.
Regarding worst engines ever, can I give a little suggestion? Try making a 1946 sandbox engine in Automation but set all of the techpool to -15 (yes, minus 15). Also that way you also have to -15 on the quality otherwise the engineering time will go crazy. I tried it myself and found it to be really hard just to make 100 hp without things breaking. Thanks! Edit: Without things breaking or the engine being too unreliable to sell.
actually, i bet it makes an insane amount of torque and is more efficient at even lower revs. it is just like trying to rev a stock truck diesel engine high. it makes more torque and is more efficient at lower revs.
