I loved "The Young Ones." MTV was still cool then. Even my mother thought Vivian was hilarious with staples in his forehead. Cutting edge comedy with Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson's amazing stage chemistry. They had great music guests like Motorhead playing in their living room. One of my favorite scenes was Vivian losing his head on a train and then his body kicking his own head down the tracks. Very punk. RIP Rik

I grew up watching Young Ones during the eighties, loved it! So this is very much appreciated. One of the best shows from that era, for sure one of the best comedy ones. Short but sweet video, packs a punch, or rather a bite that makes bricks explode :D

The young ones were so weird. In 1984, my best friend in high school (we were 9th grade freshmen) said it was his favorite show and he'd do British impressions of Neil all of the time, which I never got or understood. My friend was from a very eclectic and "weird" family and we'd go over to his house and listen to his favorite records of the Kinks and the Rolling Stones. I'd begin watching the young ones, and then later AbFab in the 90s and eventually appreciated it a little more. But man, they're still weird to me. RIP Rick

I have goosebumps. This is one of the ONLY things I wanted to do when I went to England. I went to Bristol and saw the other house and outdoor locations. Locals thought I was crazy but it was worth it.

Great stuff, mate! I never thought that any Americans would have even heard of The Young Ones, let alone be such a fan of the show. Very cool that the owners of that flat invited you in, too. On a broader note, what a great channel you have. Now I come to think of it I remember watching a vid you did on Salem's Lot locations and I think you also did something similar that was on the Halloween III Blu-ray? In any case, consider me a new subscriber.

I never missed an episode. I'm sure I have them all memorized by now. First time I saw it, I had been up watching 120 Minutes and then "Sick" came on. My mom and I sat there, stunned, and laughed through the whole thing. I was instantly obsessed.

I think you made their day telling them about the house. The only bad thing about The Young Ones as a TV show was the limited amount of episodes, but they were all excellent.

We used to quote all the Young Ones lines to each other in the playground the day after the episodes aired. It was really a weekly highlight when it aired. *Shout out* to the homeowners who were kind enough to let you into their home.

Fantastic video Sean. I grew up watching The Young Ones and Rik, especially, was a lifelong idol and someone who greatly influenced my own sense of humour not to mention allow me to discuss more “adult” thoughts and opinions with friends and family and somehow get away with talking absolute filth if I put on a funny voice and started talking about birds, jugs and knobs! Anyhow, The Young Ones truly was a unique show and one that very few imitators have replicated and none have beaten. It was the show that made me feel a little bit rebellious as if I’d stumbled across a seedy bar downtown and been allowed in despite my age not to mention the fact that the word sitcom felt about as appropriate a description as calling your mum a fridge! For as you know The Young Ones was brilliantly unpredictable and veered from any sitcom roots through stand up routines, comic vignettes, subliminal cutaways, cameos, talking animals and of course weekly musical guests leaving us with so much energy and creativity that most modern comedy might as well give up before the opening credits are through … … suffice to say it’s a show I’ll always hold dear to my heart as one of the undisputed kings of Eighties Alternative British Comedy (I’m guessing you’re also familiar with The Comic Strip Presents, The Dangerous Brothers and other such anarchic fare?) and one I still quote ad nauseum to anybody listening and, quite often, not even that! It’s recently received a new 40th Anniversary release on Blu-ray via the BBC that includes a host of new extras and episodes of the little seen show “Boom Boom Out Go The Lights” featuring some classic early appearances by The Rik Mayall that, once again, I’m guessing you’ve got your hands on and already watched. So, thanks again for the memories, Sean, and stay young, you complete bastard! 🤪

6 years ago I saw The Damned here in Houston Texas during their 40th anniversary tour and Captain Sensible says "Any remember a TV show called the Young ones..... Which we were on? This is the song we did". Then they played"Nasty" it was awesome. Awesome film location you found, I try doing some on my channel in this area but there's always something that gets in my way while trying to film. Loved this video.

What a great surprise. If you grew up in the 80s, The Young Ones was your Bible. I remember watching the first season on the BBC in November 1982 and buying a pair of Doctor Marten's boots the day after I saw Alexei Sayle doing his classic song about them. I remember the second season kicking off with its BAFTA-award-winning episode Bambi in May '84 (with Motorhead's Ace of Spades!). I'm not saying Rik Mayall had anything to do with it, but I did become a poet and my wife thinks I look like him, he he. I am so glad this popped up for me,i was brought up on the young ones & absolutely loved Rik Mayall,i watched this & subscribed straight away,anything that Rik was in was superb,1 of my favourite ever actors,if you havent watched the comic strips,you need too,some classics & as always he is brilliant,as they all were/are,thank you so much for this ❤❤

A few years ago I was visiting Bristol so was able to visit the location of the house for the rest of the episodes. Unlike this one it still looks almost identical to how it was in the show! It felt so weird seeing it in real life after decades of watching the show.

Long story short. Once spoke to a woman from Bristol. She was a fan too. But had no clue, the main house was in her town. Bizarrely, she knew the actual location too. She really was a complete teacup. These owners were literally "hassled in the street, by a..."

I love this show. I remember years ago having the scripts that someone had printed out on a dot matrix...lol. Awesome video!

I was a student in Bristol in the early 80s and for one academic year (83/84) lived in the house that was used to film the (exterior) shots for all the other episodes. We were there while series 2 was filmed. The interior (which was also "demolished" in most episodes) was a studio construct but was fairly similar to the actual layout. The episode where the flying saucer lands on the roof shows the room I had on the top floor. The place was a complete dive let through an agency but we realised after a while no-one noticed we stopped paying rent - always assumed the fee from the BBC must have been more signicant!

The Young Ones was a fantastic show. It was cutting edge and for the young people. Having major bands like Motorhead in their Livingroom was so good. RIP Rik. Thanks Sean. Great video

I visited the main house when I was at Bristol University in the late 90s, it was just around the corner from my accommodation. I also occasionally passed "The Kebab and Calculator" pub.

Very typical of London Property Prices... 40 years ago 4 snotty students could rent the whole house out, nowadays that looks like a very very expensive bkock of 5 apartments.

I used to love watching this on MTV and I recorded episodes to watch over and over. I still quote this show all the time, though most people have no idea what I'm referencing.

I seen the Young Ones around 2005. My English had advanced to a level I could watch it. At the time when it was first broadcast I had been conscripted into the Soviet Army and was about to be sent to Afghanistan as a junior artillery officer. By that point in the 1980s life in the USSR was almost as surreal as the show.

As a student in Bristol at the time,getting a Schwarz Brothers blue cheese burger from Gloucester Road and then sitting down to watch the Young Ones was a ritual. Also, the student house I lived in was literally around the corner from many of the locations they filmed in including the Cock of the North pub and the house Neil raided when he was a policeman. Oh and I loved going to Steve Hillage gigs around that time,those who know the show will get the reference. And to close that circle, I saw Hillage only a couple of weeks ago in my now home town. Happy days!

I'm 46 years old and I can remember me and my Dad watching the Young Ones and I would laugh so hard as a child and I watched every episode, boy this brings back good memories... eeeeee they don't make comedy like they used to.

guessing your over here for american werewolf in london , get to Charing Cross tube station as late as possible it pumps up the Scary vibes when there are less people , record a howl or two from the film , and feel the hairs stand up on the back of your neck , the one thing that shocks me is the amount of people who stand outside the clink and are oblivious to David being shot right there at the end . have a great time , towards the end of oxford street marble arch end there is a shop with loungfly bags in the window in the back of the store i found AWIL merch . loved the young ones watch out for the Ftumch the hide everywhere 👍
