I am giving the A+ grade to Shalabh…this is not something most men want to discuss, his honesty was so raw…great job…I also want to mention the emotion and concern in Zarnas’ face as her husband spoke…you could see the love, concern and respect radiating from her face…all 3 of your children did such a respectful , eloquent job communicating their feelings and also for being so honest..through all the difficult times, you both raised 3 amazing children!..,you are THE family the world needed right now!…thank you all so much for sharing such a deep and emotional topic with us all!…bravo to you all!👏👏💜💜

I love Zarna’s honesty that she can’t go out there save the children of the world when she hasn’t spent time with her own children. It makes a lot of sense. Family first before anything else. We shouldn’t be apologetic about it. A++ to the whole family for being very open and giving us a great discussion to learn from.👏👏👏 Let me add, the charity A grade was soooo funny!!!!😅😅😅

For willing to dissect his financial risks openly Shanab deserves an A+. It’s not often you find a man in US willing to talk of his vulnerability. For being a solid partner to take the Family load off the breadwinner Zarna deserves an A grade. Most families breakup when they are put in this intense stressful situation. The Gargs as a couple have been able to weather the storm and will come out stronger shows the solidity of their relationship. So as a couple they deserve an A+++

At the age of 50 for the 1st time ever I was offered severance, so I took it and never looked back. A week later the company had a 40% reduction in headcount. Since June of 2023 I have applied for soooo many jobs only to receive crickets 🦗 in response. I’ve been in sales for 20 yrs and have always been a top producer. So I decided to get my license to sell health and life insurance. This podcast speaks to me 💯 I can relate to everything Shalabh is talking about. Thank you for sharing yalls life’s up and downs with all of us. I now have two kids in college. My son is studying to be an aerospace engineer and wanting to pursue a masters degree and my daughter dual major at UT Austin. And my Mexican daughter is dating a Bengali 😮 they are perfect for each other.

I always wondered what it is that draws me to this podcast (apart from the fun ofc) and I have my answer today - pure raw honesty. It's content like this that normalises the ebbs and flows of life to everyone who's watching. It's now time to honour the man - Shalabh, take a bow for being brave and putting out your story for everyone to watch!

Honestly- I watch your podcasts purely to observe your interactions with each other. I have a young family and my girls are 4 and 6 and I try to be honest and open and as much compassionate as I can, and I am so looking forward to the next ten years and hope that we can remain as honest and pure and thick as a family as you guys are. Lots of love and THANK YOU Zarna for doing so many more things apart from your comedy, which is one of my favorites as wel!! I so love listening to you and your family!

Very very refreshing to see an Indian dad admitting his mistakes and being honest about it. Kudos to Mr. Shalabh! The situation of losing a parent’s income can be incredibly scary and stressful. I was just 10 (I’m 31 now) when my father tragically died and I remember my mom telling me after a few years, “I was up the entire night when your dad died thinking about one thing, money and how to manage everything since you were a growing boy who may have many needs”. On a related note, how is it that the US has so many things yet hasn’t gotten its act together to give universal healthcare to everyone? I’m not claiming that the NHS here in the UK is the best but everyone has access to healthcare!

What a beautiful family ! Heart touching when Brij said he felt it was a blessing in disguise to him that this made him realize a responsibility on him being a big brother and being part of raising his younger brother. A+. Zoya is a beautiful inside out girl from what I see on this channel. Veer is so mature to his age. I hope God protects these kids with his grace . Immigrating to US and raising understanding kids is not easy, great job Zarna and Shalabh !

Zarna, don't underestimate the emotional contribution to your kids upbringing by staying at home. Many times that is way more important to end up with great kids than any job you could have had. Your kids are amazing and that is a testament to your sacrifice by staying at home! ❤

Zarna, you hit the nail on the wall. My grandmother has never discussed any financial issues with us growing up. March 1981, our house caught on fire. My sister was 18, and I was 17 at the time, we were basically left on our own, not knowing anything on how to adjust to adults' responsibility. The first 2 years were difficult, which made me shut down towards anyone and everyone. I felt my grandmother turn her back on us where we had to fin for ourselves. Even today, I have a trust issue. I think consumers ed, Social studies should be brought back into the school system as early as 14 yrs old. Parents should be more open regarding financial issues and household issues. Kids understand more than we believe they do. Speak to them and not at. them. Life changes can occur in a drop of a dime.

As a 51 year old man, this discussion hit me in the feelings. So much of who we are is tied to our ability to work and provide and anything less than that feels like failure. So I'm giving Shalabh an A+ for surviving a life event that would crumple most men and landing on his feet. I hope he teaches his boys how he did it and I hope they pay attention.

This podcast is so interesting. As someone who grew up with a single mom who was 100% honest with me about her financial struggles on and off despite being a part of an elite community of professors… I totally resonate about increasing the “top line.” It’s so refreshing to see a South Asian family sit together and talk about these things without the fear of keeping pretences in society.

Im not sure that Shalab really supports Zarna- he does not appreciate all that Zarna has contributed emotinally to the family, especially when he was high flying and arrogant as he says when he was over spending and probably running down Zarna who wanted to be more secure financially. He is also always praising his mum who I can see that is a constant thorn especially to Zarna. Given the subtle and undercurrents I think that Shalab does not really take the whole repsonsibilty to the state the family is in- the bar is set low for Shalab. Zarna has to constantly ask for validation from her kids.

This is one of the best conversations for sure. It takes some guts to come out and talk about difficult times in life. Especially for an Indian man to accept not having a job is a huge thing. They are conditioned to believe they have everything figured out . We have to normalise these topics too so more people are able to openly talk about their struggles too.

I have learned so much from this podcast not only about perseverance and determination can show you the light at the end of the tunnel even during the darkest times, but also a lot about parenting. I don't think a lot of parents are honest with these things with their children mostly because parents don't want to burden their kids with such heavy topics. But seeing how all three kids evolved through this situation I think that was a good strategy on Zarna and Shalabs part. Honesty goes a long way indeed.

Seeing at this podcast really makes me wonder when such a grave topic can be talked with such grace and maturity.
