About 11 years have passed since this video was posted. May it have a much longer life.

The reason for all this madness is that all of the game's variables are set to Hex 153 - which corresponds to Bulbasaur, Explosion, Level 153, and the letter Z. However, every third thing (whether it be move, Pokemon, letter, etc.) is spared.

Is it me or the glitched battle theme from 0:05 to 0:22 it's such a cool remix? lol

Charmeleon scratched that Slowbro so hard it turned into nothing.

Apparently, this glitch somehow is caused by the formula that tries to make sure an opposing trainer never gives more than 9999 money when defeated. The game runs the formula many times, so many important variables in the game's code get replaced with 9s. Who would have thought that the number 9 could be so destructive?

The glitch trainer uses Lorelei's pokemon... lvl 53 Cloyster, lvl 54 Slowbro, lvl 56 Jynx since you blacked out her last were probably Lapras and Dewgong?

I've accidentally tried to catch a trainer's Pokémon before. It's when the battle has been going long and I get bored and forget I was in a battle and think I'm in a wild encounter.

Well, now we know where did Alain get his Charizard.

I tried to use the ZZAZZ glitch by myself but it had a few differences compared to what it's said - for instance, the Charizard 'Ms were just regular 'Ms. And I had kept a Level 100 Nidoking (Overwriting one Explosion with Horn Drill) in the third slot to try to win a battle with a glitched Fisherman. It's still impossible - the third 'M's HP bar was infinitely long. The first and second 'Ms could be knocked out, but even at 18x speed it took about 10 minutes. (I guess it was just using a different emulator) By the way, it's a little interesting that the glitch corrupts levels but not the amount of experience. Or it did, but it did not corrupt Charmeleon/Bulbasaur's experience enough.

I found a similar glitch with LM4. If you teach it a move by getting rid of a no name move, it may say it got rid of waterfall, acid, etc. Then your name changes, u have around 60 to 100 pokemon with u, and the trainers all look like u (they are now stylish, lol)

hay una manera para vencer a zzazz, solo se puede ganar en pokemon edición roja y azul , lo que se necesita es 6 seaking o rhaydon en el equipo y que todos tengan en tercer lugar del menu el movimiento perforador y después hacer los mismos pasos para el glitch, una vez iniciado el glitch como ya sabemos todos los pokemon se cambiaran por bulbasaur a nivel 153 igual y todos los movimientos se cambiaran por explosión excepto el tercero que sera perforador, después de eso lo demás sera igual pero el truco aquí esta en que si los pokemos nos logran hacer caso (que es poco probable) y que el ataque acierte (que es poco probable) podríamos llegar a derrotar con perforador a todo el equipo de zzazz con suerte, pero es poco probable que acierten todos los perforadores, si el pokemon nos hace caso y el perforador acierta 6 veces ganaremos a zzazz, para poder aumentar las probabilidades de éxito necesitaras mas pp en el movimiento perforador. yo lo probe varias veces en el emulador pero desafortunadamente nunca logre conseguirlo, estuve varias horas durante dias y nada, lo único que pude conseguir es que acertara un perforador al slowbro y exactamente le derroto de un ataque le dejo K.O, dando asi entender que el truco funciona, pero requiere de mucho tiempo y días, yo no lo pude lograr pero si alguien quiere intentarlo buena suerte.

I found something weird. All pokemon in his party changed to Bulbasaur, except the third one, all the moves his pokemon had changed, except the third one, the third character in his name didn't change (OLD MAN -> ZZDZZ.... and something). Also, in the game, Bulbasaur is hex 99, the character Z is hex 99, Explosion is hex 99, and finally the number 153 is also hex 99. This glitch is not so random after all.

Haha, this reminds me of the cloning glitch I used in Crystal back in the day. Sometimes the cloning process produced corrupted Pokemon clones called "?" and if you tried to use them in battle, everything would fuck up and the HP bars would extend far beyond the screen. :D

Use Explosion! ' M used instead, Explosion!

When I was trying this with the gameshark it froze whenever I used explosion and I had to access the switching Pokemon menu. Also whenever I beat the 'M with Surf it froze whenever it tried to send out a new Pokemon -_-

I found it funny that everytime you attacked, "used instead, EXPLOSION". Then when it came to Aerodactyl you had no attack moves except for EXPLOSION so you had to explode. Thanks for the vid, it answered my questions.

I remember once that I traded an Arbok from Japanese Red Version (I owned the Japanese Pokemon Red when it came out in Japan) and I traded it to my English Red Version. It turned into a backwards Charizard with a glitch name. I believe its name had Zs in it.

I was screwing around with this glitch earlier on emulator, it's quite jarring seeing the memory after address D07A get trashed with all the Z's. If you want to trigger the glitch yourself just set address D059 to FF or do the Trainer-Fly glitch with a special stat of 255. For those wondering, this bug is caused by certain glitch trainers that have an invalid amount of money that they're supposed to give at the end of the battle, and when the game tries to calculate it, it overflows and writes 153 (hex 99) to the first 2 of every 3 bytes after D07A, but it's inconsistent and doesn't always go very far. Name and party data start at D158 which is why they usually get destroyed. Not sure if the corruption can reach pokedex flags (D27F to D31C) or items (D31D to D346). No, this won't actually ruin your cartridge or even your save file unless you save, as the corrupted name overwrites the terminator. If you have a name thats either 2 or 5 letters long you actually can save and reload the file

Lavender Town made me go insane for a long time. I thought Pokemon were going to come and kill me so I hid all my Pokemon stuff away for about... 4 months..

I've done the mew glitch (for lack of a better name) many times. I've seen some ridiculous things happen due to it, including instant freezes and seeing battles pop up for wild pokemon that were a trainer. I have never seen anything like this happen though, nor do I believe it could happen.

So... is the save data corrupted forever even if you don't save your game? :o

The lack of music only makes it scarier.
