Keep in mind that the broadway are performed live meanwhile the Riverdale actors have the advantage of multiple takes and autotune

Riverdale is a great example of: “Over sexualizing things doesn’t make them any better.”

I think Riverdale’s main problem is that they soften the voices in every song. They sound like something you would hear on a pop radio, not like the emotional stories they are supposed to be.

I hate how riverdale over sexualises everything, like candy store and all that jazz. It makes me really uncomfortable

My thoughts on the Heathers songs: Beautiful: They BUTCHERED Beautiful, it’s meant to be about how messed up the school is, and they turn it into the Heathers trying to make Heather C beautiful-er? What’s happening? Just kill me. Candy Store: What is this? It’s like they’re trying to make it like Veronica also has some level of power over the heathers, and fighting them for it? This feels like a dance battle in a teen show. Never mind, I forgot that’s what it is. Seventeen: they did pretty good! My only problems lie with the fact that they intertwined it with two couples (I know, I’m being picky) and it’s not “haha we’re depressed emo kids do we still deserve to be 17” like no they killed 3 people that’s why they’re asking it lol Big Fun: The singing, let’s face it, was horrible. What is up with that? I’m sorry but if you’re going to sing good songs get at least voices that fit the songs for it. I don’t like how they used it. A few other problems I had: unnecessary censorship, horrible covers, and used the song horribly. Also, the show is basically looking like a wannabe musical rather than whatever the plot of season 1 was, if that still exists. Sorry for making this so long!

I just realized something really strange- despite having the resources for as many voices as they want, Riverdale’s Big Fun sounds like there’s like 4 people singing.

The only semi-good song was 17. Lily and Cole actually sound good together during the chorus, the high notes were good, and the harmonies were pretty

Its so funny how they make the lyrics in Riverdale so Kids friendly sometimes but at the same time they dance all sexy and all to it😭

They didn’t totally ruin 17 but they did lose the message, the whole point of that song was to show Veronica’s desperation for JD to change his ways. To show that he didn’t have to hurt everyone else to be able to love her. She was trying to save him

The fact they managed to oversexualize Out Tonight and All That Jazz in a show about teenagers doesn't sit right with me

Riverdale sounds fake, while the musicals sound like real people singing Edit: Holy shit- I wasnt expecting getting so many likes all of a sudden-

You know what? Thank you Riverdale. Now I know what it truly means to put my energy into a song, since it's the exact opposite of what you did. (Seriously, what in the world happened to Big Fun? Even for songs I didn't know, I could tell something was off before even listening. Next time I do a production, I'm gonna keep this all in mind and put all the energy I can into it *and then some* )

Broadway Carrie overshadows the Riverdale version so much it's honestly impressive

Riverdale: Uses the high school version of the Heathers songs used for minors. Also Riverdale: Oversexualizes characters that are supposed to be minors.

Riverdale ruined the whole “Beautiful” because THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE VERONICA SINGING AS WELL NOT JUST THE HEATHERS

we can all agree veronica (from riverdale) should have been heather duke not macnamara, betty should’ve been instead, also they just.. did everything wrong with that😭😭

And mostly, people need to understand that musical theatre is live, so it's genuine, it's authentic. While in Riverdale, they had multiple takes, autotune and not a whole audience before them.

Riverdale: Changes some of the swear words in the song Also Riverdale: allows these people (who are supposed to be playing teens??) to dance seductively and say vulgar things while barely wearing anything. The voices in Riverdale also sound too obviously studio recorded...

I just can't get over the fact that a lot of people know these songs that I love only by these robotic, out of context, lacking any expression, creepily sexualized and commercialized counterparts that can barely be recognized as the same songs.

I miss when Riverdale was a cartoon with a group of friends solving mysteries together with occasional love interest going on 😞😕

What they did to Candy Store I just can’t forgive. Like they under sexualised the lyrics but over sexualised the dance??

As crappy as it is, it’s not the Riverdale actor’s faults. There’s literally compilations of the Riverdale actors talking about how they hate the scripts and the musical episodes😂

The off-broadway Candy Store was honestly amazing. Those girls voices were made to sing together.
