I agree with what you're saying for the most part, but you gloss over the fact that it hurts. If someone you care about cheats on you; it's heartbreaking. I do agree that you shouldn't have to hide your significant other, but it's damn near impossible to "just move on" if you genuinely loved the person. Of course you should strive to move on, but it's a process; not something that you can just do.

I think he wants Theo to feel some shame but is fighting the urge to fully say that because of his admiration for him.
