Theodore "T.R." Roosevelt, Jr. (October 27, 1858-January 6, 1919) was the 26th President of the United States (1901--1909). He is noted for his exuberant personality, range of interests and achievements, and his leadership of the Progressive Movement, as well as his "cowboy" persona and robust masculinity. He was a leader of the Republican Party and founder of the first incarnation of the short-lived Progressive ("Bull Moose") Party of 1912. Before becoming President, he held offices at the city, state, and federal levels. Roosevelt's achievements as a naturalist, explorer, hunter, author, and soldier are as much a part of his fame as any office he held as a politician. Roosevelt was 42 years old when sworn in as President of the United States in 1901, making him the youngest president ever; he beat out the youngest elected president, John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy, by only one year. Roosevelt was also the first of only three sitting presidents to have won the Nobel Peace Prize. The Teddy bear is named for him, despite his contempt for being called "Teddy".
Roosevelt has consistently been ranked by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents, having revived a declining presidency. (Summary adapted from wiki)

" A life of slothful ease. A life of that peace, which springs merely from lack either of desire, or of power to strive after great things, is as little worthy of a nation as of an individual" ~Theodore Roosevelt

He wrote in 1889; he started out an arch-conservative, yet came to champion progressive causes. These contradictions are not evidence of vacillating weakness: instead, they were the product of a restless mind bend on a continuous quest for self-improvement. He argued that strenuous effort and overcoming hardship were ideals to be embraced by American social reform then ( and "social justice" today ) for the betterment of the nation and the world in the 20th century. Roosevelt identified what we need to do in the 21st century.

"Self-help is of inestimable value in the solidarity of American life." "The hard-working philanthropists, as a rule, do not belong to the mushy class and thoroughly realize the unwisdom of indiscriminate giving or of wild and crude plans of social reformation."

This shit lacks energy in the storytelling to work as something you have on in the background, you really have to focus on this, I may as well just read the book

That's common with Librivox narrators. The thing is, nine of them are voice over artists nor do they have the hardware or software to produce a A+++ audiobook. The reason why professional audio books are so expensive is because there is usually a whole team of professionals recording it, so we get what we pay (and in this case don't) for. Regards

Mmm, I get what you´re saying. The thing is though, energy is free and comes from within it´s like BOOM you feel it and it ENGAGES YOU. When you talk with a monotone one level voice it can be pretty hard to stay engaged

One of the best narrators of today. Why do I listen to this audiobook by a white supremacist president? I have to know how they think. Their tricks are obvious yet effective.
