I'm going to analyze the episode where Rory agrees to tutor Jess, how their study session is going, and also their car ride to get ice cream.

What are your thoughts on Rory tutoring Jess and hiding it from Dean? Let me know in the comments!

My take on it is that Rory is starting to check out of her relationship with Dean on an emotional scale. It's not like Rory and Jess were kissing or being physically intimate. However, I would consider driving in a car alone with a boy and getting ice cream a date. Can you react to Rory telling Dean about the car accident and breaking her arm?

Rory has trouble dealing with *Lorelai* being upset with her. She's the same way with Dean. That might be a different kind of psychology, but I think it's just that adults in her life were so impressed with her intellectual maturity (reading Classic novels and newspapers) that they thought they didn't have to bother about cultivating her emotional maturity. For obvious reasons, Lorelai wouldn't have been much help with that.

I believe it's important to put yourself in your partner's shoes and think if we would like to be treated the same. Everytime I watch these episodes it gets me thinking about it. I agree Rory could spend time with everyone she wants, but it bothers me she is kind of encouraging the advances of a guy who basically humiliated her boyfriend. Especially because Dean never did the same to her. I just wished she was more honest with Dean. Because she keeps reassuring him and acting like this 😒

Totally! I was so team Jess when I watched the show as a teen, and I still like him, but the way Rory handled things was horrible. Dean didn't deserve to be treated like that...
