I belong to the general category and not from brahmin community. Even now all poojas in my family are done only by bhramins. I have never aspired to do the poojas myself, though I can learn. There are many reasons for this. All of us would consult the best doctor, engineer or lawyer as they have professional expertise, knowedge and skills in their domain. Similarly, we only go to bhramins for conducting poojas as they have traditional professional knowledge, skills and are authentically trained in pooja vidhi/vedas/tantra and temple rituals in their family (gurukula sampradaya) from their early childhood for many years (i.e., even for more number of years required to get modern MBBS, LLB degrees). The same is true about ayurveda and other Indian Knowedge System (IKS) . Parambryam (tradition) plays an important role in learning and the way of knowedge acquisition in IKS. This is different from University education.I respectfully disagree with our honourable MP when he says that poojas are given only to bhramins because of old mentality. This is not true. It is about professional expertise. All communities are today free to inculcate Bhramanyam in their family and become a bhramin! But, in democracy people have a choice to go to expert Doctors, Lawyers or Poojari. Change in society cannot happen by force or knee jerk action. The government should include learning IKS/Learning Sanskrit/Vedas & Puranas/Poojavidhi from early school level in Government/Private schools. Parents should be encouraged to adopt and inculcate IKS values and ethos at homes and make every child to do sandya vandanam (Gayatri Japam) irrespective of caste or creed. Devasom Boards should help the parents in their jurisdiction area through training and development. Then automatically society will become more enlightened and change as time passes. The bhramin community should be credited for keeping the IKS alive for all communities of Democratic India 🇮🇳. Now anybody can learn these things without stopping as everything is available to public. However, charity begins at home and so let all communities adopt the true bhramin way of life in their family. 😊

I like to correct Mr. K Radhakrishnan MP. Not going to define the Brahman, the God. Brahman means god and "brahmin" means varna. The people especially the keralite pronounce brahmin as brahman. "Brahmanjana mithi brahmina" as per upnishad. Our self have to change and understand the defrence.

He is using the wrong word 'charging'. We perform rituals like Ganapathi homam in our homes. Brahmin pujaris perform it. After the puja is over when he gets up to leave we pay him dakshina. He just takes it and puts it in a knot on his dhoti.He doesn't even count it. But in the case of Muthappan vellattam performed by SCs there is a rate for every item. I am not a brahmin. I am an OBC and is saying from my experience. Radhakrishan's is a biased mind.
