haha another anime review for the history books, mark your calendars kids. I actually talked about the manga for To Your Eternity (fumetsu no anata e) like 2 years ago, I'm a prophet what can I say? I think it's published by Weekly Shōnen Magazine but don't care enough to check. Anyway, this is my anime analysis review blah blah

@hikana

@@brianmurphy250 I think that might be true? I read the manga (starting from where the anime ended) and did feel some sort of “dropping point” in terms of quality. It got really confusing and honestly felt like the story lost itself. But that’s just IMO, maybe I missed something.

@mel7906
@mel7906 2 года назад
@@brianmurphy250 What you're talking about is fairly true I'd say, but there's a few reasons for it. First, I think it has to do with having too many, albeit important, characters to the story all at once, but not giving them at least one chapter each to engage the reader to their world as they see it through their eyes (the way we get with characters in the past) before adding an entirely new story on top of it. You do get to experience this eventually, the two sides of the story start to come together, and that's where people also say the story begins to pick back up. It feels as though the timeline of events are happening out of the natural flow we'd grown used to and it's jarring. And yet, that abrupt, jarring change is also important and leads to the next point: Second is, it's MEANT to be boring and mundane in that part of the story, for VERY good reason. Many people don't like that reason, because it's far too familiar to our day-to-day life, which makes it feel uninteresting. We watch isekai and fantasy because we want to experience worlds other than our own, right? But that's entirely the point... it is boring and uninteresting despite being everything we wanted or one could ever want. Everyone is either suddenly out of their element, or they're suddenly relatable. There's nothing wrong with the second part imo. People generally just dislike having a mirror held up to themselves. I feel as if the first part had been focused just a bit on each character a little bit, it wouldn't be much of an issue at all. But if you can muscle through that part, it does pick back up, and imo it's worth not dropping the entire thing over.

To Your Eternity is written in memory of the author's late grandmother. That late grandma seems to reflect in every series the author's written (both To Your Eternity and Silent Voice). But i think in To Your Eternity is where that detail is most explored. The themes of memories, lost, grief and moving on tie perfectly with how you would mourn a passed one. There's this part in the manga (Manga spoilers below i guess) where someone asked Fushi to tell them about all the people he's met. And one by one, as he recounts their stories, dreams and personalities, he shifts into them, signalling that they've passed. Every single person Fushi had known and loved at this point in the stories have now died. And its not something you or me would experience. But It's something someone very old , like the author's grandmother, would know the most

Big Spoilers by the way: The boy in the snow wanted to go out and explore past the mountains and eat fruit. Fushi takes his form as their main form and goes out and explores. March wanted to grow up, learn, and have a family. Fushi, after march passes, continues to pursue knowledge, family, and grows more mature with each episode. When he's angry, he becomes the bear, filled with rage and pain. When he has something to fight for, he becomes March's sister. When he loses the to the wooden beings, he gets scared and confused because he literally loses a peice of himself.

@@RuiFanTier SPOILERS Yeah I totally agree with this. I think the quality of the manga started to drop when the story became extremely focused on the knockers instead of the characters. I mean we all liked the anime or the beginning of the manga because of characters like march, parona or gugu. That “final battle” wasn’t quite right. Like the knockers were already attacking before but we didn’t know much about their origin and their reason to attack. And all of a sudden kahaku’s knocker just told fushi that all the knockers would attack Renril in a huge and decisive battle. It wasn’t bad and I enjoyed that arc but it didn’t fit quite right. The story should have ended when Fushi spreaded his roots all over the world, protecting everyone and making the world a safe place. I liked the encounter with his dead friends but I feel it just ruined all of fushi past sad experiences and troubles of being inmortal which made the story good. The future era is an extra that shouldn’t be there.
@RuiFanTier
@RuiFanTier 2 года назад
@@Tomson-wq6lw i mean i would really like to see the final battle animated cuz that part is still freaking intense. But didn't the knockers said that they want to "rescue" everyone soul because they think they got trap there? And then their objective change in the modern arc. i think him reviving his friend is kinda understandable since as you know, fushi follow the personality of the body he use (like when he used parona body and deeply obsess with a doll) fushi use the body of the nameless boy which is so so so naive and he live alone for five years. And yeah fushi is OP cuz he can revive and all but can we talk about black man power? He give his power to fushi and turn into a child but he could still kill a knocker in his freaking sleep

I have finished watching the first season of this anime a few months ago and I have to say... it truly made me wonder about the parallel between fushi and the viewer. To me it feels like Fushi is in a way similar to the reader. Always there and getting a part of all of the stories and characters they read about or watch... but then keep on living far beyond whatever story they end up watching. And the way of living past loss is what really draws me in to Fushi as a character, as he doesn't just "get over it" but instead continues to move on even while carrying that burden. Just as every anime you watched that left a sense of emptiness after you finished watching it... Great video that honestly really sells on what the anime is about without spoiling much of anything in the story, everyone should really give it a watch if they're looking for something unique and engaging!

I'm glad to find this video after reading and watching the latest To Your Eternity. I first discovered it and thought, this is another anime where the main character is gonna be op but then when I watched and read it, my statement got crushed, burned, and destroyed when I got to understand the story. Sometimes being immortal is lonely and has heavy consequence to it. Plus the characters are really going to make you feel attached to the story like your part of it and seeing them die... Especially SPOILERS Pioran... She reminded me alot of my Grand aunt and seeing her die and reincarnating into a (read the manga or wait for the season 2 of the anime to find out her reincarnation). The story brings a tear when a character dies. The story build up is great but the author doesn't show too much mercy on Fushi's peace and I find it wuite hilarious. By now I am in the latest chapter and it seems the Nokkers have evolved into Covid 19. I won't spoil too much. I just love the story and I want my friends to enjoy it to so I can talk with someone who understands the things related to To Your Eternity or similar things.

This is a recommendation for anyone interested in realistic slow paced anime. I recently just got done watching a realistic anime called "kimi to boku". It's a slice of life anime that's about a group of boys that have been friends ever since kindergarten. There are no real tropes and no harem and no ecci. It's just a group of life long friends; a set of identical twins that enjoy teasing the serious one in the group while the warm-hearted one keeps the peace. The twins have there own personalities but are inseparable. I am not into slice of life anime so it says alot if I liked it so much. It has a very real way about it and makes appreciate the little everyday things. When I watch something realistic I think of your RU-vid channel since you like that theme. Thank you for your videos, I really like your commentary.
