It’s nice seeing you young guys watch MJ’s highlights. Mike was a beast. Everyone talks about his offense, but he also was a helluva defensive player as well. The guy had no weaknesses. Players feared him.
It is only fair as I see it. Magic and Bird did the same to Jordan and made him earn it even though they knew he would be the one to pass the torch to as they retired.
Everybody knew it was Kobe he was different... Kobe took it and ran with it .. Kobe kept the league growing and exciting... Now it's TRASH and not the SAME.... Nobody watch the NBA no more like everybody used to when Kobe hit the scene...
It was MJ's plan to talk shit to Kobe to make him furious and get the best out of him. Because Magic and Bird doing the same thing to MJ when MJ was in his earlier career, Magic and Bird did that to make MJ furious and get the best out of him.
Kobe was quite young/inexperienced at the time, while MJ was a cagey veteran. This was essentially Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker during THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK: the Force was with Kobe, but he was not a Jedi yet.
Yea but the tradeoff was jordan and not as athletic. He was also somewhat sympathetic to kobe. Young 80s mike, would've meant mamba would never exist..young mike was that good but even more young mike was merciless
@@punkem733 yes..Im doubling down on my comment. Phil Jackson agreed kobe has better basketball skills than Jordan He picked Jordan due to his bigger body and bigger hands / leadership skills
@@JIX9ISLER1986 hey homey you got Phil's opinion or your own? My opinion is Jordan could school anybody anytime. Period. Defense, offense and if he played football, special teams. Meaning it didn't matter what they were playing, he was that type of competitor, that kind of athlete.
I seen both of their whole careers, honestly MJ in 1986 serves any 2 guard ever in the NBA, Big O, Kobe, Wade ect. Kobe was competing with the past prime MJ in 97 and the way past prime MJ in Washington. Everyone forgets that Michael Jordan was the freakiest athlete meaning he was faster stronger and could out jump all of them in their primes including Kobe. The only advantage they would have over him is seeing him play before they did physically they have no advantages.
Mostly everything was cool until the "Dream Team" part at the end. It goes much deeper than just MJ not wanting Isiah on the team. He excluded major parts like NBC chairman Dick Ebersol's involvement with the USOC. He saw the embarrassing display of sportsmanship by Detroit on his network and he wanted no parts of Isiah and neither did the Olympic committee. He forgot to mention players like Magic, who was beefing with Isiah at the time, Bird and a few others didn't like Isiah and the tactics Detroit used. They all saw Zeke as the ring leader of that goon squad and they didn't want him around. Magic and Isiah were going at it because this fool Isiah insinuated Magic got HIV by being homosexual. Karl Malone, another Dream Teamer, ended up giving Zeke mad stitches when he popped him with an elbow to his eye. Literally nobody wanted Isiah on the team so when they simply make it about Jordan, it's a lazy approach to prove some false narrative.
@@morebtwice If you want some perspective about my comments, watch "The Dream Team" documentary somewhere here on RU-vid. Also the "Bad Boys" documentary gives some light to Isiah's "side" of some things mentioned.
The decision not to include Isaiah was made BEFORE anyone approached Jordan. Pippin was on the team and didn’t want Isaiah, Barkley called the Pistons a-holes too. However the players all liked and respected the Piston’s Coach Chuck Daly who was the Dream Team Coach.
@Kristijan Car Exactly... I hate it when people use false narratives involving MJ's name, to try and elevate other players in stature. Case in point: Kobe's 55 pt game vs the Wizards. His fanboys (i.e., the kobetards) were NOTORIOUS for doing this back in the early days on this site. They never mention that: A) his 1st half explosion was against Jerry Stackhouse (not MJ) and B) when MJ (who was 40 at the time), did slide over and guarded him in the 2nd half of that game, he held a PRIME Kobe (RIP) to 1-13 shooting Notice how whenever this game is talked about, this is ALWAYS (and intentionally) left out...
@@natedablack7857 Kobe is my favorite player of all time, but MJ is the GOAT. People talk about how Kobe dropped 81 on Jalen Rose, to the point where the man himself believes that, but Rose actually wasn't the person that was abused the most by Kobe. I forgot who it was though.
Um, not quite true. Kobe scored 42 points in the first half with Stack on him. In the second half, MJ guarded Kobe and held him to 10% FG percentage. Bryant did score 13 points, but 10 of them were from the FT line.
Jordan wasn’t on Kobe in that game, I watched that game and Jordan showed Kobe respect as Kobe showed Jordan respect. They always trash talked each other but they were very close! Jordan referred to Kobe as his little brother, he loved Kobe. He taught Kobe a lot and mentored him through out his entire career. Kobe is on record saying without MJ there is no 5 rings for the lakers
My friends, please forget it!!! Jordan Change completly not only the NBA but Also the all sports in general. Never forget, why everybody says the Michael Jordan of something??? He was unique, a guy like him appears in the world once in a 100 years.
I love to watch the internet, RU-vid, Facebook, instagram, twitter, and Snapchat generation get education on the great players they never saw play live by watching the internet! It helps them to make better judgments on who is the G.O.A.T. and who is just blowing smoke!
I have to say my favorite era of basketball was in the late 80's to mid 90's.I was a huge Seattle Sonics fan, never missed a game and went to game 5 of the 96 finals.I can say Jordan was the best and still considered the best of all time even though I despised him when we had to play against him:)
All I gotta say is Allen Iverson most important play was the cross Ever he did on Jordan once!! Act like MJ was a god like Larry said to get a move on him being a big deal tells you Jordan is on a level of his own;) simply the GOAT
Isaiah Thomas deserve everything Jordan gave to him after what they did to Jordan. Players today there's no way they could stand up to the beating they put Jordan through, hell blow on LaFlop James and he falls over players today are soft 🤣
Jordan didn't ban Isaiah Thomas, they said he would play, but the people in charge had to a make a decision if they wanted him to play more than they did Isaiah Thomas.
Let me tell you Isiah Thomas may have had one of the hardest upbringings in the NBA. My Uncle was his mother and older brothers lawyer and I'll just say damn.
Jordan might have said he wouldn’t play if Isaiah was playing but people seem to forget that the people putting the dream team together didn’t want Isaiah on the team. Nobody on that team wanted Isaiah on that team and Magic Johnson told them he didn’t want Isaiah on the team. Isaiah was never going to get asked because of the way he and the bad boys pistons played, they played dirty! Charles Barkley barely made the team because of his temper and he was mild compared to the bad boys.
Kobe was 0/6 and picked up a charge against MJ that game. That whole dropped 50 on Jordan is nonsense. He dropped 50 on the wack ass Wizards while the Lakers were defending champs and MJ was officially 40yrs old. The real game to talk about was the Wizards v Lakers when Shaq was out and MJ was schooling Kobe with jumpers in his face. He also on one particular play had Kobe in the post and bodied him like he was an annoying fly. I remember it live. The wizards also won the game on a Stackhouse dunk at the buzzer.
But what Kobe did Jordan and the wizards can't really compare because by that time Jordan was at least 15 to 20 years older than cold can't really say Jordan was a spring chicken like Kobe was
NO MATTER WHAT...MJ IS THE GOAT. THE BEST. BEST ALL AROUND. HIS AIR JORDAN LINE STILL RACKS IN MILLIONS. THERE ARE MANY GOATS, MJ IS GOAT OF GOATS!!! ❤❤❤
Many don’t understand MJ returned to play basketball because he Loved It and Missed It! That it and not to get to another championship and many say he was washed up?? When he decided to win he did most of the scoring! He still was dominant when he wanted too be! The rest of the wizards played like they didn’t have a heartbeat! They made it to the Playoff because of Jordan and without him it wouldn’t have worked! MJ is the GOAT I remember most writers, journalists and most NBA Players along with the retired Hall Of Famers were calling MJ the Greatest Of All Time even in 1991! That should speak volumes now!
Damn yung-un, who do you think Kobe patterned his game after? Why do y'all think you have more Jordan shoes than Kobes', Brons or anyone you clowns think is better? What is wrong with y'all?
Dude thereis no greatest player, only a greatest team..............AI point.......Jordan-guard..........Larry Bird fwd.........ELgin Baylor........fwd......Wilt Chamberlin Center
Nope, there's an objective way to measure that. (Ppg, fg %, defense rating, clutch %,) those are all individual things you can observe. Jordan comes on top in all that
No disrespecting LJ but this is Old School NBA Basketball and this is how MJ is on the Court. He would talk smack to who he was guarding him just to test that player. If that player or player's really disrespected MJ. MJ is going to show you why his known as Black Jesus
Not true about the Dream Team. Isaiah behaved like a baby when MJ was an all star in his first season. He talked all of the other starters into not passing the ball to him during the all star game. He started it and MJ finished it. Take the Isaiah.
Jordan didn’t get Isaiah band. This REBOUND dude who’s video you’re watching is telling half trues. If it doesn’t have actual audio with video, please don’t believe REBOUND.
He's so right to dunk that's an amazing feeling especially for short guys like me I remember my first dunk I'm 5 8 the gym went crazy I felt like a star 🌟
dude..ive been in baseball and around it for 50 years..MJ could not play MLB. Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders had the talent to do it, Bo being the best. But MJ had a hole in his swing that without celebrity status would have kept him in AA ball tops. The commitment needed to get to the show takes years for all except a very few like Nolan Ryan, Doc Gooden, Bryce Harper. Sorry to burst your bubble..lol
finishing my reply. Some are better at a certain sport MJ career was what dreams are made of some can play two sports to be that good in basketball how could he be as good in baseball only a few can do it dont hate he chose to put all of his eggs in one basket.
MJ and Kobe were friends, and that trash talk was friendly. Kobe dropped 55 against the Wizards, true, but he only made ONE field goal with MJ guarding him in the second half. Went 1-10, then scored 10 points from the FT line.
Appreciate the support chief 🙏🏾💯 and I recommend you do hang cleans/ power cleans you’ll be dunking in no time…that’s what worked for me back in high school!
Jordan didn't do Kobe wrong... He dunked on Kobe the first time Kobe guarded him lol 🤣... Dude Kobe also mimicked MJ which I can't hate on cuz I'm Kobe's age and I did too a lil bit but I wasn't anywhere near their level! Kobe was closest thing to MJ and he was only player I'll consider putting on MJs level
I love this reaction. But the narrator of the video is exaggerating a lot, putting extra spice on shit that wasn't seen as disrespectful at the time. It was just very competitive in the 80s and 90s.
MJ then Kobe 1A and 1B then Larry bird. James to me. He's on top 30. He don't play all the games for one and he don't play defferent for a long time. And he cry 😢 because he don't get his way. He should play in the 80's and the 90's. Because James will be pushed around. If MJ play's now he will get 90 points in same nights and one game per season he will get over 100 points !!
