I recently purchased the TempSpike based upon promises of improved Bluetooth range, hoping to replace my Meater+. My grills are maybe 50 ‘ from my family room. But, Just like the meater+ the TempSike’s bluetooth did not provide a reliable connection from a grill to inside the house. I am returning the TempSpike. I tested the Thermoworks Smoke X2, which is also Bluetooth based, and it ran perfectly for 4+ hours without a single connection drop.
ThermoWorks Smoke and Signals are in a whole other league IMO. Love my Signals unit. For the TempSpike, was yours orange? My version one of it was orange and it had a few major issues. For one, range was no better than my Meater+. They sent me the red one as a replacement and the range was way better.
Hey Kevin, What issues were you having with the 1st spike? I'm not too concerned with it's Bluetooth range, but more of it's internal/ambient temp. accuracy. Thanks
Hey I can't believe I missed this comment sorry. I hope everything got sorted for you. I had some first gen units that were finicky. The TempSpikes I received later were much more reliable. Then I got to try the TempPro from them and those too performed quite well in comparison to the Meater Plus.
