Hey guys, today I want to have a look at the most expensive items in runescape history. The more exact the most expensive item sales of all time.
So I'm not going to be necessarily looking at the current values, just the highest prices that items have sold for. For example brand new items usually get a big premium. Also discontinued items for example party hats from RS3. So today I am going to compare both game modes and see if we can determine the most expensive item ever sold in runescape history.

Spirit shards actually DONT fluctuate at all. The reason being is that when bought from the shop, they're bought for 25 gp, and you can RESELL the shards back for the same amount, thus meaning the shards never lose value ever.

@totalbottle That's not what he's saying at all. You're talking about inflation, all he is saying, is that 1 spirit shard is worth 25gp in RS3, no matter what, since you can buy them from the shop for 25gp, and sell them back to the shop for 25gp. Just like 1 dollar will always be worth 1 dollar, regardless of inflation.

Inflation bro. More GP comes into the game and your spirit shards devalue even though they are still worth 25gp each, they are a smaller % of the total pie.

@@gamewithadam7235 while gp may "devalue" its irrelevant to the discussion because he used platinum tokens in osrs as an example. 1 platinum token is always worth 1k gp just like 1 shard is always worth 25gp. They have the exact same purpose.

Great video mate! Gotta correct you on the spirit shards tho: Spirit Shards can't change in value, since you can always buy and sell them back to a shop for 25gp. In addition we also have Spirit Shard Packs, these hold 5000 Spirit Shards and you can buy them for 125k, so you can effectively store trillions of RS3 gp, without having to worry of it losing it's value.

@@ianhopkins9782 yes that is true but the video is on bulk shards which aren't sold in the ge they are exchanged for 25 ea. only very small amounts of shards are sold on the ge at one time for under 25

Missed a HUGE sale! When Archaelogy dropped in RS3, Tony's Mattock, was an item released as well. If I can remember correctly, the first one was sold for about 30b RS3 GP. I think that might be one of the biggest sales in RS3 history.

Spirit shards never fluctuate, you can sell an infinite amount of them to the pet shop in taverly for 25 gp each, and can buy them from the summoning shop for the same amount

Spirit shards are a flat 25gp. You can buy them in packs like the rune packs in osrs and the shop has unlimited stock. When I was still playing you could sell them in the ge for 24gp or spend a little longer selling them to the shop and get the full 25gp back.

back before osrs I remember seeing them on the g.e. for 23-24gp(can't speak to them now), its true it doesn't fluctuate at the taverly guy nor would it fluctuate with people who have so much money they need to trade shards. Its likely the video maker doesn't play RS3 so would have only looked at G.E. prices or he may not know about the ability to trade the guy in taverly. Is it a flub, for sure, is he speaking entirely out of his ass, no.

I think they were both around 180m. I remember cause I sold my phat and bought an AGS plus some other barrows items right before quitting runescape. My thoughts were "well I'm quitting so I don't have a use for the phat, and if I ever play casually I want to have the best gear possible to have fun". I was a really stupid kid :/

spirit shards are fixed at 25 gp each. just an fyi as you said that it can change, but no matter how many you sell back to shop or you buy from shop its always 25gp.

The system you are referring to regarding spirit shards fluctuating in price is not exactly accurate. The price on the ge fluctuates, but theres a pet store in Tavelrey that sells them for 25 gp each and buys them for 25 gp each, keeping them at that consistent price, which is why people use them. Just giving you some info! Love the video as always

Man, back in 2003 or something (before RS2 launched) my older brother's friend quit the game and gave me his account. It had 2 Halloween Mask sets, a Scythe, a Party Hat set, 3 Santa Hats, and a few Easter Eggs. Over the next few months I sold it all off for what I thought was a ridiculous amount of gold, I remember selling the Santa Hats for 150k each, ended up with about 2mil total.

The shards in RS3, doesnt flucuate at all as you can sell it directly to an npc for 25 GP GE price goes 22-25 ea but players will always get 25GP from npc which is what theyre valued at

I have made a surprising amount of GP by leaving buy offers for spirit shards in GE for 24 each and selling to the shop for 25. Even though 'it's only 1gp profit' there's a lot that move around and you can get decent profit.

i wouldnt say spirit shard prices are fluctuating. since you can buy and sell them at a locked 25 gp from any summoning shop. sure you could technically merch them but for all intents and purposes they are worth exactly 25 gp for anybody using them as wealth storage. though i find it funny how the game with the more inflated currency has a less efficient wealth storage item. with only 25 gp as opposed to the platinum token's 1k.

@@grr5425 Absolutely correct, besides that the packs automatically open. Like you said you can't actually trade them to other players. But they can be stacked in your bank, making them serve a purpose for storing gp without needing multiple accounts. Since without the packs you could hold a total of ~55b gp per account in liquid equity, w/ shard packs approx. 300 trillion gp.

Spirit shards have a fixed value of 25 GP, they can be instantly sold to an NPC for 25 each.

I got a santahat on rs3 that I traded for a whip back in the day, 2 years ago the price started rising by quite a lot, I figured that once it reached the 1b treshold it would rise above max cash, oh boy does it look like I were right, so! I liquidated my entire bank and invested in one more santa hat for 300m, 1 red mask, 1 blue mask and 1 green mask (h'ween) and a few easter eggs. as my general rule is that I never keep gear or cash on my account unless i play quite actively. Never ever had max cash, but looks like ive reached that now (and quite a bit more)

5:49 this is not true. Yes you buy shards from the shop for a set price of 25 gp each and you can also sell it back for the exact same price of 25 gp making it the perfect currency for people who want go beyond max cash.
