Olivia Colman is in it because she worked with the director of the series on Broadchurch. Alice said she was the dream choice to play Nicks mom but they didn’t think they’d get her. Euros Lyn (the director) sent her the script, she loved it and filmed all her scenes in 3 days.

By the way the teacher having a pride flag badge is a huge deal in the UK because up until the early 2000s the Section 28 law made it illegal to “promote homosexuality” in schools (similar to Florida’s don’t say gay law now) so a LOT of us never had any queer representation or support from our teachers (because it was ILLEGAL)

I'm so glad you're watching this. I adore this show. It's so sweet and wholesome and cute. I actually watched the show first, because the comics are on backorder everywhere, and it's almost impossible to find physical copies. But as soon as I actually got them I read them all in like 2 hours. This is one of the most faithful book-to-screen adaptations I've ever seen. Even if everything isn't one to one, all of the essential stuff is there and even with some differences you still get the same feelings as the books give. As Alex pointed out, the addition of all this stuff with Elle is a big change, but it is so great and it really helps you to get attached to the girls. Honestly, it's just nice to have a show focused mainly on queer characters that's actually happy and uplifting. I wish I had a show like this when I was a kid or a teenager, but I'm glad this exists for the younger audience and that it's doing so well.

Agree. Nick yanking Ben off charlie, Charlie's thank you message to Nick, Nick inviting Charlie to his house, the hand sparks while watching the movie, the hug when Nick leaves, etc., are all missing, so it looks like you're reacting to only the most mundane elements.
2 weeks ago when I binged this I literally thought, I can't wait until Jessa and Alex watch this for us, the love out here for this show becoming supernova for a reason. Have fun friends

I've watched the show a dozen times through and just remembered that while Elle was watching Tara and Darcy through the window they were playing girl in red which is definitely not a straight song.
I love this show so much. The choices made as to composition and colours and lights are all so good. Lots of rainbows (both literal and in flag/lighting etc forms), various pride flag (trans/pan/bi/lesbian) colours, the bisexual lighting is everywhere. The yellow and blue of Charlie and Nick. So good. :)
Such a sweet, lovely, wholesome show. It wrecked me with cute queerness. It’s rude to have Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman playing a caring mother in a series like this.
