If I understood it correctly, this confirms that MCT - although saturated - does NOT have the negative effects other saturated fats have, right? Would add them into my diet.

I'll be re-evaluating eating windows. I had been optimizing for regular fasts of more than 16 hours (e.g., 32), but with leeway on some days. Looks like it's better to be strict every day.

@@Mayflower646 1. Nightshade fruits and vegetables - Such as white potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers. Goji berries are also part of the Solanaceae family, which means they’re a nightshade. 2: Grains - Whole grains have more, since they are found in higher concentrations in the outer bran. 3: Dairy - Pasteurized milk and dairy products may actually be worse because the heat destroys the naturally present SIgA, which is an immunoglobulin that may help neutralize lectins to some degree by binding to them (7). 4: Legumes - Beans, lentils, and peas. 5: Nuts and seeds - Excluding grain seeds, there is not much evidence to suggest that humans are sensitive to the types of lectins in tree nuts and most flowering seeds. 6: Yeast - It’s worth noting that “only a few reports are available” about the activity of yeast lectins. Just because you don’t see a food on the list, that doesn’t mean it’s safe.

I found this profound. I’m a woman in my 30s with 2 kids struggling with total exhaustion, fatigue and brain fog! Everyone kept saying you are a mother of young children it’s normal. I got so sick and overwhelmed with life (and I’m lucky by comparison) that I started on a journey to improve my life and I’m still only scratching the surface of all the things, but GPs definitely only focus on fixing the symptom not the cause. For the last 6 months I’ve been attacking the symptoms, and am still suffering, after listening to this the cause is clear. My diet is pretty crappy and always has been. I’m far away from cutting all the “healthy” foods that are bad for you phase. I just need to eat less crap to start with. But thank you for this! I’m sure it will make a massive difference in my life focusing on this

Go have your vitamin D checked by the doctor. Low vitamin D can make you feel exhausted and depressed. Read up on what all that vitamin D can do to us when it too low. Also, have your thyroid checked. Eating real whole foods will totally change (and save) your life for the better, but you have to have the energy to make real food and not buy processed or fast food. So ask your doc to run some labs to check your vitamin d and thyroid. I felt the same way you did and felt guilty for not having the energy to be the mom I wanted to be but getting my vitamin D, thyroid checked, and eating healthily brought me back to life. I had to learn this all for myself because your right, GPs just want to throw pills at you. You're doing great.. keep up the great work and Good luck!

@Badabinger 3 года назад
Good on you, sounds like you're on the right path. Keep going! And equally important, it will benefit your children very much as well. Both in terms of that they eat, but also in terms of mimicking you as a role model. And VERY true words about GPs only addressing symptoms. Majority only know sickness, and sadly know nothing about health.

@@Badabinger omg this is the perfect way of looking at it, that doctors "only know sickness and nothing about health"! Thank you so much for sharing that. I've had a lot of issues with doctors never actually trying to get to the bottom of illnesses and like someone else above said just "throwing pills at you". But this sentence that you shared really explains why. They aren't even thinking about health! They need to add a TL:DR section at the end of each video of what was said and how to simplistically implement that into your daily life. If you have the capacity to sit through the science you can make the determinations for yourself, but most people don't have that ability, either through attention span, interest, or sometimes the background knowledge to understand the concepts. However, personal growth is just that, a personal journey. There's never really a "one size fits all" course of action for everybody. Determine what's best for you and trial and error some shit. Sometimes that's all it takes.

It’s easier just to do keto, most people are severely carb addicted. Millennials (and gen x’ers 70’s, 80’s kids) especially grew up on processed commercialized sugar and flour. So going back to basics meat, high fat dairy and low starch veggies are a great reset, the only way I could break the insulin resistance that I was feeling (although not clinically showing).

I remember an author who wrote a book about eating intentionally spoiled foods, raw meats, I think and was interviewed in, IIRC, 60 Minutes. The author shared that he was very sickly since he was a child and has gone through every type of medical doctor for a cure of his chronic condition. His last desperate move was to an Alaskan tribe, where the native healer fed him spoiled? whale innards. This made him sick and was out for a couple of days with a fever. But after this ordeal, the healer explained that the bacteria in the spoiled meat helped his gut bacteria to make him healthy. The author continued this practice, and this being the foundation of his book. During the interview with 60 Minutes, a Health and Sanitary Inspector was presented to see the jar "food" of the author, and even see the author dig into the jar. The Inspector said to the reporter that normally people who would eat that spoiled stuff will eventually be sick and need hospitalization. He was amazed and dumbfounded how this type of food even cured the author. Note: I no longer cannot recall the name of the author nor the title of the book... Though I am quite sure it was a 60 Minute show... Btw, watched it on tv when the internet was not yet that popular...

I have been getting tired right after eating and generally feeling weak in the last years. I then found out that if I eat less carbohydrates I don't get tired anymore. To not get tired I didn't eat more than two toasts or a bowl of rice at a time (together with protein). Then I read that copper is needed for energy production from carbohydrates and that copper deficieny is common (I live in Europe). I took a supplement with 2mg copper every day and after a few weeks I tested it. I ate more carbohydrates in a meal and didn't get tired. Tested it the next day again, same result. My body temperature has been to low for many years too. This also has changed (energy production). I'm not getting cold as easily as before. But this could also be due to eating more protein (while eating less carbohydrates) and getting more muscles, since I'm slim.

What kills your energy is the constant imbalance, abuse and drastic extremes that people do to their bodies. Obviously that binge eating pecans would invariably hurt the body in the long run. Despite labeled as " healthy " they still have components that hurt the body when over eaten. People need to learn their bodies are like a scale and when you tilt too much to one side , the effects will reflect. Too much junk foods leads to A,B ,C causes. Too much of healthy food leads to X,Y,Z causes. Balance the intake and you won't get any causes. Unless, of course, your body can't really process it. Genetics also play a big role . I've seen healthy people dropping dead or clinging to their lives and old people with the nastiest habits dying as old as time itself. " Oh I can't have this , oh I can't have that " People nowadays browse constantly and constantly are fed new information of what hurts and what doesn't. The results of that is them tip toeing and living in a constant struggle because they block themselves from doing or eating things that taste good, because health gurus and nutrition gurus say they can't or shouldn't. This needs to stop and a balanced education should be the way forward. I see people almost feel guilty for having a mere ice cream, a bowl of pasta or fried food because of sugars and carbs and transfats. They then stress their bodies and mind to oblivion exercising , dieting and mentally fighting a simple craving they had, like their lives depend on it. In my opinion the only good thing that came out of this doctor's mouth was the time restricting feeding. Because that is the logical thing to do. Digesting consumes a lot of energy, that's why people feel drained shortly after a meal. Same with snacking. If you're constantly snacking , the body is working around the clock , digesting and pushing the food out of the body. Much like a machine, it can't work around the clock. It needs a break. Point being : Exercise , balance your diet and indulge yourself. You'll be dead anyway someday. I much rather prefer to accept a friend's invitation for lunch or dinner and eat the carbonara or fast food he cooked or ordered and have good times , than staying at home eating a salad because that is supposed to be healthier. Don't do that please.

I have researched this subjects loads and think to sort a leaky gut and thus most disease, you need to avoid gluten, a1 casein dairy, sugar, seed oils completely(ev olive oil, coconut and avocado are all ok), alcohol as much as possible. Also, nightshades if you have arthritis. Eat loads of vegetables..salads...some fruit (upto a couple of pieces daily...or preferably berries) nuts and seeds, meat, fish, eggs, a2 dairy, well soaked, rinsed and sprouted legumes occasionally. Eat as much organic food as you can afford and intermittent fast. When you give up gluten and to some extent type a1 casein dairy...you will probably experience flu-like symptoms for a few weeks(this is due to the opiate-like effect of these substances on the brain). I also took L glutamine powder for a few months(a tsp at night in water) which helps mend the gut. Good luck on your journey to health. ✌

A few years ago I started to have brain fog, fatigue, IBS, joint pain, inflammation issues, extreme weight gain problems. Though I was pretty active by working out 5 times a week and going hiking often. My body started to hurt a lot, I started to get weaker, to the point I couldn’t do certain physical activities that I enjoyed. My primary doctor would just prescribed me a whole bunch of medicine that didn’t do anything. would tell me to eat lots of legumes, and cereal with high fiber. People would tell me that it was just my body changing because of older age, though I was only 28 years old. Now I’m 33 years old, Nothing my primary doctor told me to do was working so I decided to try something new. First I changed my primary doctor to someone that took my symptoms a lot more serious. I also started to see a well recommended holistic doctor for about a year, and I noticed I felt better with all of the different things we were doing. My energy came back, I’m able to focus again, my digestion got better. Some of my symptoms were a result of leaky gut. It has been a hard journey, and I’m still not 100% well. I had to take a break from seeing my holistic doctor because it was so expensive, but well worth it.

@sportysbusiness
@sportysbusiness 3 года назад
Humans are hunter gatherers. We are designed to eat a fatty animal based diet and gather edible plants and fruits when animal products weren't available. Saturated natural fats are our friend, yet we've been conditioned to fear them, hardly surprising as the people telling us they're bad are the ones who make money when we're fat and sick. This makes looking at research difficult, as the paid peer reviewed studies are designed and paid for by people who need us sick. You're better to look at the healthy tribes around the world and look there, or read the thousands of long term n=1 studies on health forums. I'm now ketovore and thriving in a way I never did when eating plentiful veggies and fruits. I've been omnivore, plant based and animal based and in my personal n=1 experiment, animal based is the clear winner by a long, long way.
@hono50
@hono50 3 года назад
@@sportysbusiness Happy you found something that works for you! I'm not quite taking the argument of intentionally altered research, especially when the alternative (plant based) is cheap. While the argument of "healthy tribes" seems plausible, there's too many factors in observational studies that make interpretation hard. I'm searching for a specific gain: longevity and healthspan. Evolution didn't optimize us for that yet, so we need to rely on controlled studies that can determine cause-effect relationships. We (me specifically, but also the scientific community) are still learning, and the various contradicting results show that it's pretty complex and sometimes individual and there's still a lot we don't get yet.

L- Arginine with adequate levels of B6, folic acid , B12 helps stimulate the release of nitric oxide that causes smooth muscles lining blood vessels to relax . B3 or Niacin / nicotinamide capsule also helps as well as reducing inflammation with in blood vessels and reducing levels of bad cholesterol

Good stuff. Definitely don’t agree with a lot of what Gundry proclaims but learned a lot nonetheless.

The pecan thing makes sense now, I was eating a pecan cookie on a daily basis, and every single day I had headaches and feeling tired, as soon as I stopped eating the cookies, headaches was gone. From now on I'll just tell people I am allergic to pecans 😂

Try to eat pecans or seeds after being soaked in water for at least three hours.

Pecans alone are generally healthy. The cookie has a bunch of sugar, flour and other garbage that are likely the problem. Not the pecans.

Making up fake allergies. People actually have adverse reactions to nuts so this might not be the best idea to use this wording when eating out.

After an endoscopy I was told I had five stomach erosions (not ulcers from bacteria) and was put on Omeprazole. This was allegedly caused by excessive use of NSAIDs for pain and cramps. I was never told how to heal my gut but presume erosions would also mean "leaky gut" or a permeability. How to repair ?

But do you apply them to your life for longer than a week, or a month? Clearly not.

This was complicated. I'm not sure I even know what to do. 1. Restrict eating to 6 to 8 hours of the day. This lets your gut and your mitochondria rest, and you'll have more energy and your gut will have time to heal itself or something. 2. Don't eat processed foods because they send all the macronutrients to your mitochondria at once. Your mitochondria get overwhelmed like a traffic jam and slow producing energy from these nutrients. If instead you eat whole foods and let them naturally digest, you'll send things in the right order to mitochondria, thus producing more energy. (It's not clear what these pre-digested foods are though...) 3. We may all have intestinal permeability, or leaky gut of we have energy problems. It can happen easily in our modern diet because of numerous reasons like eating nuts, eating processed foods, not eating enough variety. A leaky gut may or may not form because the good microbes in the intestine are not being fed and dying off while bad ones proliferate. Not clear on all the ways you can get a leaky gut...

Think you summarised it well, I also went to check out Dr Gundry's youtube channel. He gives practical tips there.

It feels confusing perhaps due to information overload, take it one step, one takeaway at a time. I've been healthy my whole life, but truly been 'studying myself' for about 8 years now, and every year i've made progress with what foods work for me. I have so much energy! :D for example - i am a fitness instructor for work (i teach AND do the class simutaneously) i teach 10-15 classes a week, and weight train 3/4 times a week, run half marathons weekly also. My diet is basically paleo, with personal refinements

7:00. too funny. I rarely watch tv or Netflix etc, because I'm too busy, but I have Covid and literally spent the last two days in bed binge watching Netflix. 😁
