“because I love you so much” reminds me of how retail companies will be like “it’s employee appreciation week! here’s a 20% coupon for all of your hard work!” thank you for appreciating me so much that you’re giving me the opportunity to hand back over my paycheck.

(posting before finishing, sorry if you cover it) One thing to also note is that they don't actually "randomly" choose their winners. They find another small influencer in the pool with followers and they ~magically~ win. This way, that influencer will post about winning and get them more attention/content. I've seen it several times and experienced it first-hand -- I never won a single giveaway until I had a heftier following.

We have an off grid farm. Years ago I tried doing social media and a RU-vid channel about what life was really like offgrid and homesteading. Let's just say it didn't last long. For one the marketing company I was talking with literally told me to just lie. Outright lie, that my customers are stupid and don't know the difference, just give them want they want. That's the first thing that pissed me off. BUT.... THEY WERE RIGHT!! People didn't like the reality. 98% of offgrid & homesteading channels are blowing smoke up everyone's ass, and the viewers love it.

@@user-pc2ql8rk1w I have been offgrid for 12 yrs. OFF GRID COSTS MONEY! car insurance, cell phone, gas, propane, taxes. Literally the only bill you may not have being offgrid is rent or a mortage. Adding livestock... ohhh that bill is about to skyrocket. Yes you can do cheap solar but it isn't going to last before those batteries don't hold a charge as good. YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO WORK. You still need money. Money for lots of infrastructure, money for constant repairs. You will be upgrading your solar. Our first system only cost 6k. Our second one we had to install to power our growing farm costs 20k and still wont power the entire farm. Want to hunt, raise animals, have your own meat, produce, milk? All of that takes a lot of electricity. More refrigeration, more freezers. You will be running a generator and in extended bad weather you can expect to spend $100 a week running that generator. Never mind the fact you have to listen to it all day and night. You will still be buying food. There's no way around it. Seriously folks I'm not trying to be mean or confrontational. Just trying to point out the realities of offgrid living.

My question is… does anyone ever actually “win”? 😂 I’ve seen a LOTTT of these giveaways but have never seen a “winner” post. Nor have I seen a “giveaway closed” post. Which means that people can just eternally be “entering” the contest. It never expires and no one knows if someone was already chosen to win. Which means an endless stream of emails and surveys being answered… as long as people are seeing that post, they’re entering.

@lisah768h7
@lisah768h7 3 месяца назад
Well it all began when we developed tools to produce more than we could consume thus giving rise to private property and accumulation of or hoarding goods. This gave rise to classes. Classes described the relationship to production that people have. I.e. working-class (the who work in the production and distribution of products, or services). The first classes arose in the slavery epoch. This is when slavery was the dominant mode of production, think ancient Egypt. And then there was the fuedalism epoch. Think peasants which were distinct from slaves because rather than being owned by individual slave owners, they were more so tied to the land that they worked which might go through many different property owners hands. And finally we arrive at capitalism where the working class is exploited for profit by the bourgeoisie, the ruling imperialist class. And then they turn around and profit again after us buying their bullshit. A better question is how do we get rid of it. And the answer is socialist revolution. A violent overthrow of the ruling class and abolition of class. Sorry I am a history and economics teacher. ❤

I'm OK with when a giveaway is for a product/service the person or company I follow normally offers. Like, when the cross stitch "influencer" I love offers a giveaway promotion for one of her kits, I'm excited! But you'll never see me following 100+ accounts for crappy headphones 🤣

I always know when you’re ‘heated’ and troubled by what you’re talking about, because you start saying “okay” multiple times, like you are so upset by whatever you’re talking about that you need to make sure it’s being understood and comprehended by us, the viewers, which conversely while loving WHY you’re saying it, it’s also extremely jarring to hear “okay” multiple time at the end and/ or during sentences lol!! You’re definitely a unique person, in a great way (for a change lol)

This is wild! My experience with loop giveaways has been so different than what you’re describing! As a small business, I’ve been part of a few with like only 6 small artists to follow. And we each make something to add to the giveaway. Sometimes the winner gets all the items. Sometimes we split them up for multiple winners. It felt genuine since there is no “influencer” involved and no pay in whatsoever. Plus, often there is a huge crossover of audience in the sustainable small biz scene. What you’re describing is 👀👀👀! I’ve never seen any of these shady ones before! And would never follow 75 random accounts 😂

I agree with you to an extent. I’ve been an influencer for over 8 years. I don’t do the loop giveaways (those are terrible) but I do post giveaways every now and then where I partner with a brand. And when I say partner, I mean that they provide the product. I do not get paid for it and it’s a lot of work. I actually do these out of the kindness of my heart. I don’t do them often but my followers do look forward to them and I always make sure that it’s with a brand that I have a long standing relationship with (usually many years, I don’t do one offs) and that the prize is something that would truly benefit my community. Just saying - not all influencers are money crazed maniacs and not all giveaways are done with ill intentions. I truly do care 💖 And yes, people do win. I personally go through entries, contact and announce the winner and follow up to make sure they received their prize. I also try to keep it fair for my followers so every one gets a chance to win. I have heard horror stories about how other influencers run their giveaways, but I try my best to do it correctly and ethically.

But does anybody TRULY even win?? I would not be a single bit surprised if the answer is no. Just a whole scam all the way through. Smh.

as someone working in marketing agencies, we have tools to track every like, follow, tag,... as easily as a few clicks and we have all data we need. Not because we have to find the winner of the giveaways, but because we have to send the data to our clients (brands) to let them know we have accomplished the work. And, as unfair as it sounds, sometimes, the winner is someone in the team or their moms, sisters, cousin, their clone accounts..
