Letting people know they might be short staffed, and to be patient was really nice of you. I've worked in kitchens, and it can be some of the hardest work.
When I went out to get food during covid, only taco bell was open in that area. They told me they were short staffed and asked me to try to keep my order simple. I was rewarded with the freshest taco bell I've ever had and got free drinks and 2 free tacos lmao
Tidewater is one the the last affordable hidden gems in the nation. Once they get a sports franchise and expand the light rail it’s over. Beaches, Arts & Culture, Beautiful Nature, 4 Distinct Seasons, Seafood, Soul Food, Caribbean food and more great food everywhere.
@@brucewilliams2382 Compared to the Northeast States and DC Metro Area Tidewater is very affordable unless you have a need to be in VA Beach… which is overrated unless you actually live on or near the beach. That area is historically crippled by terrible access to the outside world with Highways 64 & 13 as the only options. Plus just one overpriced limited excursion airport covering such a large area. At least they have Amtrak service extending into Norfolk now. Great people, great nature and great food plus I heard there’s a growing cultural arts scene developing in Ghent and the Downtowns of Norfolk and Portsmouth.

Finally your in VA, while your in norfolk you should head down to chesapeake to go to an AJ's Gators they have some really wacky and unique stuff. Glad to see you in my home state.
Grilling is overrated and has to be done juuuusstt right or it’s ruined. It can end up tasting like lighter fluid/gas, too woody or straight up charcoaly. Baked is a safer bet for me.
The true term of jerking means charcoal grilling. So baked jerk is a bit contradictory. But nowadays the jerk refers to the spices applied to the chicken. I hear you about the lightning fluid taste. I always use natural wood fire starters. And you do have to make sure you charcoal the chicken just right. I play it really safe by letting the meat spend 80% of the time on the charcoal and putting it in the oven just to make sure the interior is cooked right.
Jamaican food! Cutlass - oxtails and jerk steak. Jerk hut- best jerk chicken. Chick a sea- big chick with extra sauce. Filipino food Maymar. And best tacos are in Petersburg place called Los Bandidos
I appreciate your PSA at the end there and I wish more food reviews would get hip to.
