The Fortuna Joggers are part of my part of my PURPLE capsule collection! I have chosen to make the wide leg pants this time and will leave the tapered classic jogger style option for the future. I am sharing some unconventional fitting, a closer look at my fabric choices, a yoga waistband and how to sew the cool pockets with a woven detail .These pants FIT so good.

8 patterns, 18 variations. Sizes 00-20 US (Bust 46”, hip 48”). Some of the patterns are for woven and some are for knit. They are beginner-friendly patterns (no buttons and no zippers). For the tops and dresses, a single cup size is available (B/C cup) but the designs are not too sensitive to cup sizes in the fit.

Specifics
*Size 14
*Added 1” to the front and back crotch legnth
*Added 3” to the length of the legs / inseam
*Yoga waistband technique using the original pattern piece, just shorter to be 4-5” smaller than my waist.

You are doing really amazing work. Not only in terms of your expert sewing and teaching, but also in directing, writing, videography, editing, and promotion. It's insane the amount of work that has to go into the production of high quality videos. And that you are basically self taught in all these technical areas is really impressive. You did a wonderful job on the pants and they go with all the outfits that you made so far. Lovely pants, especially out of a knit fabric. I replayed the video but didn't catch where you purchased your French Terry fabric. Was it an online shop? Wow, that is a tremendous amount of work just to receive a book. You have been promoting the book, and doing a lot of marketing for them, I hope you get more than just a book.

I’ve bought my fabric online here in Brazil. For me it’s not just about receiving a book actually. This book has given me a lot of opportunities for content on the channel. Not everything I do is monetized (all the content on the channel is free). In the sewing community, getting paid for anything is actually extremely rare.

I think your channel, blog, etc., are very well done and I live in Los Angeles! I love how and what chunks of content you place in your various platforms (limit is good for my lack of attention span). You are very wise to monetize wheat you do because of your tremendous solo efforts, women don't always do that. You are an inspiration and ahead of your time because of the global pandemic and our need to stay home and stay safe! P.S. Can you do more men and young men clothes. I too have a 14 yo who is tall (mine is and wide) so I am wanting to make him some pants and shorts but so confused about men's waistlines and fit issues.

The pants are great. I am confused about the yoga waistband, what fabric do I look for. That sure would make it easier to sew.

I use two types: heavy cotton spandex 90% cotton, 10% spandex 12-14 oz weight OR this athletic knit polyamide with 10% spandex.

I think for most, the waistband will hit the navel. I added 1” and that’s not a lot :) It’s a great pattern

Thank you so much for all that you pour into the sewing community via your channel. We are so blessed to learn from you! I noticed that your overlocker is a Singer 14u??. I wonder where you get your needles from. My in-laws recently gave me a very old Singer 14u64A overlocker, which they literally found on the side of the ride where someone was cleaning out their house! I cleaned it up and it works great. However, one of the needles broke and I've been trying to replace them but cannot find the correct size anywhere. I'm assuming yours is the same as mine?! Any suggestions on where I might source these needles would be much appreciated! Again, you are prolific in your sewing and knowledge and as a beginner sewist I'm very grateful to have found your channel. God bless.

I took mine to a local shop for maintenance here in Brazil and the man there issued with me weird generic no name brand needles. I have a pack of 20. I honestly know any more about them. I bought the serger used and it’s very very old but works great. I’m sorry I can’t help more.

I was wondering if you know how to put in a "comfort waistband" which is used on some Gloria Vanderbilt pants/capris. It seems like a nice stretchy belting sewn on the inside of a jeans pants waist band.

Great video, as usual Karina! Question though, the pattern is mid rise. I just can't wear mid rise anymore as I age. The one inch you added to the rise?... That wasn't enough to make them highrise, right? They're still Midrise on you? With adding that and changing to a yoga waistband I'm not sure exactly how I would do that for high rise for me. Thx!

The waistband I used is the same waistband the pants has. You don’t need to worry about it being “yoga” or having an elastic inside. It won’t Change the rise. The 1” I added gets them to hit my waist, BUT that’s what I need for my body (not everyone else’s) and I have a longer than standard rise, so I think these will hit the waist on most people. High rise is above the waist and I don’t like that because it would essentially be under my bust. When I measured the pattern, I had the waistband pinned on to include that into what I measure. I would suggest a quick muslin “shorts” to check.

@@LiftingPinsandNeedles maybe I didn't ask the right question. The pattern is mid rise which I don't wear. If I want them to hit my waist, just pin on the waistband and add what I need to the rise?
