The Palermo top and dress is part of my PURPLE capsule collection! I have chosen to make the top with crinkle chiffon am sharing how to sew the center slit, the bias tape facing / casing for the neckline. This beautiful flowy pattern is easy to sew, more than you would think!

8 patterns, 18 variations. Sizes 00-20 US (Bust 46”, hip 48”). Some of the patterns are for woven and some are for knit. They are beginner-friendly patterns (no buttons and no zippers). For the tops and dresses, a single cup size is available (B/C cup) but the designs are not too sensitive to cup sizes in the fit.

Elastic can be dyed if you ever run into this issue again. In the States we have two brands that I am aware of, Rit DyeMore and Jacquard iDye which both work on synthetics. You can dye white elastic to match or at least get close to your fabric color. Another option is to use a “nude” or a tan color elastic if you have some available for sale. The idea being that it looks a bit like skin and less noticeable under see through fabric. It’s a similar idea as wearing “nude” colored underwear under white clothing. I hope this helps! 😊

Karina, you might try dying some elastic and see how that turns out, but then again if you don't use colored elastic that much it might not be worth it. I am getting ready to dye a linen shirt in avocado seeds and skins. I've really enjoyed your capsule series and love the colors you've worked with and this blouse with the black pants is a hit. And thanks for promoting hand basting. It really does help the construction of a garment.

You can use Oceanspray Cran-grape drink in hot water. Use the whole bottle and only perhaps a cup and a half water. Heat on stove top in deep pot adding white elastic. Cook on simmer maye 30 minutes. Rinse easic. If not dark enouh put back in pot and cook a litle more. Rinse final time with 1/4 cup of vinegar in the water. Tehn throe elastic in hot dryer whichshould finish setting the stain into the elastic.

Hi Karina! Your blouse is lovely on you. I'm curious why you understitched the casing/facing since it gets sewn to the bodice. I can see how it would reinforce the seam given how delicate the fabric is. Thank you!

Under stitching is a functional step that is not related to topstitching at all. Facings need to be under stitched so that the seam rolls to the inside and that’s not achieved with top stitching alone :)

Love the colour and style of that top! I'll have to use the neckline finish on my next top. I made a chiffon top with similar look but it had placket instead and I made the mistake of interfacing placket...I only had white interfacing and it was a topaz coloured animal print ... the interfacing shows...I'll have to go back and cover with the material somehow (???) ...so I get your concern re elastic colour

Amazon and MANY other sources carry purple elastic. I didn't see it in 3/8", only 1/4", but I'll bet you could make it work! Just Google it...

I just don’t have access to things like that. I can’t buy on amazon living in Brazil so I rely on the basic black and white I can find locally.

Machine and serger :) I’m moody this way. This chiffon is not the lightest I’ve sewn and it takes the serger ok :)

The hem of the sleeves is totally straight and the narrow double fold is nice and neat. I wouldn’t hem with bias tape there. I use bias tape doe curved areas :)
