Dear Ted, thank you very much for reviewing our book. I am overwhelmed and grateful for the very kind words. Luise and I really appreciate your comments. I ordered the second book, too, your way of presenting the books is really great. As Helder already said, you enrich them, make the viewer curious and this is widening the horizon!

Yes! Please more videos like this! The books you selected are both excellent. As a self taught (well, RU-vid and my Dad!) photographer, its always wonderful to hear a review of a book from someone who can name possible influences. "This looks to be inspired by [name]" is a goldmine for those of us who are trying to discover photographers' work to study or just appreciate. Thank you for both bringing attention to these amazing projects and name dropping some seriously inspirational heavy-hitters in the process. :)

Both books were very well done. The one with the model is very unique which is what makes it so good. The fact that both books took several years to come together makes them so good. With the first book your pointing out the small animals near the edge of the photo was a good point. Congratulations to both photographers on a job well done!

The second book reminds me of Alfred Steiglitz and Georgina O’Keefe. One photographer. One model and the images being personal either between the two of them, or the model being one on one with the camera

The change of perspective, to be in front of the lens, is something I can really recommend to all photographers. Especially when the model you are used to working with, is taking pictures. As a result of this (sorry...😀) you can find pictures of me in the book, too. I taught Luise taking pictures and it resulted in a short story we wrote down afterwards.

Hmm... I'll have to think about, "I never knew if you were the storm or the silence." The work makes me think of a photographer who's a master of light and texture, of which there are many, but not only is she the photographer but she is the subject of her own photos, and of limitless gravity questioning the nature of being. That photographer is Francesca Woodman.

Great video Ted! These books are great. A classic example of keeping it simple, it’s about the creativity and composition and not so much the gear. One camera, one lens can work very well. I have been recently using my Nikon F2 with the 50mm lens. I find myself concentrating on my photos and not so much on deciding on which lens to use. I use 35mm, medium format and 4x5, but honestly, 35mm is adequate to shoot and print great photos. I find that 4x5 is most reserved for my work where I need the various camera movements.

Thank you very much, now I am really curious who is behind n0x...😀 You are completely right "Come undone" is outstanding, but I have to admit, that I love his second book with Katta "What if" even more. The concept to decide which pictures they would choose now, 3 or 4 years after publishing the first, massive book and to publish this set in a second book is really interesting. The collection is, from my point of view, even better than in book one and I am curious if I see our collection with different eyes in the future, too..

The hard work that went into both projects is apparent. Both are really lovely and evocative. The books spark a general question I hope I can raise without raining on anyone's parade. I find that putting images across the gutter (spanning two pages) is very disruptive. That break - allowing part of the middle of the image to disappear, is visually painful to me. I'd rather see the image smaller! For me, even the "lay flat" books disrupt the integrity of the image.
@olafkorbanek1816
@olafkorbanek1816 Год назад
First of all, thank you very much for your kind words. Your remark is interesting because I see it different. I do not like it, if it is overdone but some pictures allow to use the maximum available space without harming the image. You have to be very careful which elements you span about the pages and it is horrible if for example the head of a portrait is too close to the gutter. In our book we are able to show one picture in 60x30cm and I love the result of this format.
