Holy crap, you're grandmaster in SC2 as well?! That's awesome! Also, I found it pretty funny how a lot of your chat didn't really know what SC2 was, given its status among the RTS world (well, mainly due to its daddy).
I can see why SC2 is called a faster paced game, whole thing was 12 min, when an aoc game that goes to imp will be an hour real time. Also, of COURSE you're grandmaster in SC2. Because theviper.
Even though I'm aware of the legend you are at aoe, it still surprised me how good you are at sc2 as well. Different game, but I guess the micro skills remain. Happy to see this man, cheers!
Age is way slower paced but in my opinion punishes mistakes way harder. Losing 2-3 workers early on doesn't mean a whole lot in SC, losing even one in the first few minutes in age is a huge setback, losing 3 would be almost insurmountable assuming a fairly even match
starcraft is good, i just find aoe more enjoyable stratigic and the fact that its historical makes it all the more better besides sc2 was made way after aoe2. theres so many different ways to play aoe2 as well
There are plenty of differences, so I guess it is up to taste. Also Starcraft has a traditionally strong professional scene and well organized competition. Additionally, it is constantly patched, balanced and developed much more than AoE2 is. Just trying to find reasons why it is more popular, personally I like the slower pace of AoE2 or AoE3 a bit better.
i tried the campaign and i liked it, but in order to play online i need to learn hotkeys and buildorder, and it takes lot of time. so i'd rather stick with aoc
That is just the EU server, and I haven't really played much. The system is a bit different compared to AOE2, so it's hard to tell ones exact skill level unless they're really active on Sc2.
The games are too different. I mean some W3 players tried going into the pro SC2 and failed miserably because they were used to a more strategic and slower paced game. Imagine migrating from an old school, albeit still quite popular, RTS to the most competitive game in the genre. This makes me have massive amounts of respect for TheViper, even if he is not a pro. Its not easy to master 1 very difficult game, but 2? The guy has insane amounts of talent, I bet he would be around the best 1% in every RTS if he wants to.
Actually it wouldn't be the 1000 best in the world. Grandmaster league consist of the best 200 player by mmr (elo) (rating). But different servers have different levels of skill in players. The most skilled players would be in the korean server, and there so many skilled players there, that even Master level players in that server could get into GM league of easier servers (like NA). So yeah, prob the Korean and European servers have some of the top 1000 player in the world ranked at Master league instead of GM.
i have no idea what i just watched but please upload more... also if you're a 'casual grandmaster' couldn't you go pro and earn $$$? or do you not like sc 2 enough for that
Nah I don't know. If I started playing sc2 when it got released, and not 2 years after, who knows. When I was fairly active I was surfing around rank 30-40 GM in EU, so I think I'd do pretty good if I commit to it, but it's not worth it by now :- ) But of course it's just a guess, one can never know. I might have completely failed.
Don't be so humble. Being top 30-40 GM in EU is borderline pro. You could prob be among the best european players if you commit to the task. To bad youre at the top of the AoC food chain, otherwise you would consider it.
