Fans of horror and TTRPGS are in for a treat, as asymmetrical slasher sim Dead by Daylight is crossing over with tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons for a new content update that adds celebrity lich Vecna to the game as a playable killer. The update also includes a new dungeon-based level, as well as a bard survivor character, and a bunch of other cool nods to D&D lore.

DbD hasn't been a spooky game for a LONG time :P I mean it has Nick Cage as a survivor - not a character, the literal actor, and his abilities include screaming at the killer and prat falling.

It's not a good or fun game for long time players either. Its literally only good in the Am hours of a Fri/Saturday when everyones either high or pissed.

Ahh I agree that there's a learning curve for sure, but i dont think it's bad for new players. All you would need to get to grips with the basics is complete the tutorial and maybe watch a match played by someone who knows what they're doing

This game could do a lot of things and just…doesn’t. They just get money from half baked skins and new characters that don’t make much difference in gameplay. It feels like a game stuck in 2013 or something.

I don't play Dead by Daylight, but I did keep up with it for a time, the killer brother and sister being the last one I heard about. I can't help but think that this is just Vecna taking a vacation from his usual schemes and plots for power to just meet The Entity and use its demi-plane to torture some souls he has captured or test some of his most noteworthy cultists. Thanks for the upload and content. I enjoyed the video.

The Entity tried to recruit Vecna after he found an artifact from its realm that was associated with some disappearances. He resisted its pull but eventually decided it might be interesting to study The Entity, so he allowed himself to be drawn into the Fog.

Vecna was a really cool idea. But switching between spells is clunky, and recovery after casting them is so long they're basically useless, especially fly. The skeletons are trivial to avoid, mage hand doesn't last long enough to mean anything except maybe if you're stopping a god pallet. His most practical ability is the painfully slow moving sphere.

Feels like one of those crossover events from a gacha app. Content that just doesn't really make any sense, and doesn't fit the game. I'm quite confused about what the devs think D&D even is, or why fans like it.

Better idea than generators, just doing a magic ritual to a deity's idol, can still go wrong and explode, still have to crouch and fiddle with stuff, is totally liable to open a portal to escape, thank me later Behaviour Interactive.

All I can hear are gen popping off every 45 seconds with a SWF team while I take 30 seconds to create a bubble and walk it around like a dog or create a gateway I can apparently get locked out of. Also the hitbox looks like it sucks, hopefully they fix that.

When Andy had DBD as his "couldn't ever get into it" game I was so sad. I am glad to see some of the squad at least giving this killer another go. Dont forget, the entity chose generators for their trials. So that poor elf had to learn generator repair, 10 minutes at a time in an endless cycle.

Huh, I might actually pick this DLC up. I very rarely play DbD, I'm with Andy, I like the idea but not so much the execution, basically just play every once in awhile with a few friends, but would love to have a sprinkle of DnD fun in it.

Very cool to see you play this! I like seeing D&D stuff showing up in more mainstream places, and all the interest and content being created for it right now. You mentioned Stranger Things - I know there are Vecna campaigns available in D&D, so I'm not entirely sure if the characterwas created for Stranger Things or not. I suspect it's probably older, but I'm not entirely sure. I've played some 1st, 3rd, and 5th editions over the years but there are people way better versed in the worlds and lore than I am.

According to Wikipedia Vecna's first appearance was in 1976, long before Stranger Things decided to use him.

The answer is Charles/Chucky from Child's Play. Fully recommend the Chucky show on NOW TV / Sky. Although the Vecna does have a wider range of magic, Chucky did specialise.

Technically Vecna isn't from Stranger Things though... he's from D&D and is in Stranger Things because all the things in ST are named from D&D because the kids play D&D (the mind flayer, the demogorgons, etc). Vecna was first mentioned in D&D back in 1976 :)

No idea why they chose people that do not play DBD to showcase this. This wouldn't entice me to try it out if I was a new player, it just looks clunky, confusing and boring. As someone who has been playing for months it's just painful anf frustrating to watch. They seem to not have an understanding of even the basic mechanics, and one of the players actively dislikes the game. Not sure why they decided to go this way when showcasing new content for a game that has been out for years

Which "they" are you referring to? If the developer/publisher wanted an exciting showcase, there would've been sponsorship messages near the start and end of the video (I hear UK takes that stuff seriously). If you're referring to OX, the point wasn't to entice people in, it was to get people from the target audience to give as close to an honest review as they can. The target audience for this release wasn't veteran players, it's D&D nerds who know nothing or almost nothing about the game.
