The 2014 jetta sportwagen TDI is the only model that comes in a unicorn and they only made a few, relatively speaking. I actually have one. They weren’t part of the emissions scandal. The difference is the motor; it is the same motor they put in the Golf TDI before 2011. The sedans were never unicorns. The salesman in the video doesn’t know what he is talking about.

Im thinking of buying this exact car for long trips, I've only owned Subaru WRX & Honda CIvic S... but now I obviously need great MPG vehicle with bawls.

Not rare. It is uncommon. But far from unicorn, You want a unicorn get the B7 Passat TDI manual.

Without finding the exact production numbers I would assume the most rare is a 2015 Jetta Sportwagen TDI with a manual.

Most likely although they require DEF or a DEF delete while remaining mostly the same as the 14

They rebranded the sportwagens as Golfs after 2014 because of the emissions scandal. The “sportwagen” was never a Jetta to begin with. They are all Golfs. The “unicorns” are only in the 2014 sportwagen. The motors are different. They are the pre-2011 TDI motors that were put in the golfs.
