The thing is Bran could've at least tied with some others on who has the best story IF THEY WOULD'VE DONE IT RIGHT. But instead after he gains all these powers the show just shows him DOING NOTHING with them apparently except just talking creepily and ominously all of the time and not acting anything like himself from before, making it even more IDIOTIC that they'd choose a guy like that as king when they don't even know if he's really him anymore and seems to be possessed by the COTF! Therefore, evil still won! So many issues. I think the last chapter of the books will be told by Bran as it opens with him and it will be him stuck in a tree somewhere telling us all he knows about how humanity defeated the Great Other. I think he has a much greater role to play in the books in that fight, and I think for now the COTF are trying to use them as their next greenseer host in order to help the great Other and Others eradicate mankind. Even in the show they showed leaf being bitter about how the humans tried to destroy them before.

I used to rewatch GOT all the time and recently realized that I haven't done that at all since the finale. I asked myself "Did Season 8 destroy the entire series for me?" and the obvious answer is, "Yes. Yes, it did."

We just need to wait for GOT Brotherhood.

My wife and I were starting rewatching the series during the last season. After the last episode we stopped and haven't picked it up since.

Last Jedi did the same to me for Star Wars....amazing how all those years of happiness were destroyed so carelessly by some fucking idiots that clearly didn't deserve the job and privileged in the first place.

And Bran saw Dany attacking KL in season 4. Which means he let it happen and did nothing to stop it. He allowed KL to be massacred so he would end up on the iron throne. From that perspective he’s probably the biggest villain of the entire series, and he ended up as the King.

His arc in the books is interesting, all the magic shit, cold hands, the mystery of the true north, etc... The show had some of that, they even added Hodor holding the door. So, it is a interesting story. And he has the best super power to rule a country: he can see everything, he can see the past and evaluate the best decision, not committing the same mistakes, etc.. But, like everything else in the TV show, his arc was badly developed. And don't get me wrong, if Martin follows this same exact concept in the books, but with hundreds of pages fleshing out and etc.. That is not a positive, we already know the goddamn ending, lol 2 episodes, 2 thousand pages... same results.

Hey - I watched the entire series in about 3 weeks after the end of S8. Do yourself a favor and just rewatch it all. When you watch it all straight through, it flows better together. You'll get to relive the good moments of S1-4, and the ending will seem more cohesive. Also, the 'hints' of each character's fate will be that much more obvious and even though S8 is rushed, accept it for what it is and understand that this is where the story was always going to go. Glad I did it.

In the books, Bran is still boring as all hell, but he is at least relevant to a degree as opposed to the TV Show where it was easy to forget he still existed. I once had to argue with a friend that Bran was still alive in the series, because they were convinced he had died lol. Bran and Brienne are always the chapters I struggle to make it through without skipping on my rereads, and even the very first time I read them it was hard to stay focused.

I've watched the whole series like 5-6 times. I refuse to watch again until HBO realizes it needs a fucking better ending. By ending I mean replace seasons 7 and 8 for at least 4 seasons. So I guess I will not watch it ever again.

I expected to spend the days after the last episode rewatching them and crying tears of satisfaction-three years ago. But now, I might never watch it again, not even the earlier seasons because it leads to nothing. Thank God for the books (whatever end it reaches, Dany going batshit included, at least it won't be a less than half-assed crap storm), and Chernobyl.

That’s how u know for certain season 8 was awful by watching every season that came before it and what a drastic decrease in craftsmanship.

Unfortunately, I was one of those people. Never been so hyped for a season of TV in my life...oh boy the regret is real. I even organized a large game of thrones deadpool at my work and tried to get everyone involved. I did get some catharsis out of tearing this season to shreds with co-workers every week though.

I keep thinking this whole destruction (narrative, logic, intelligence, etc.) was intentional by some sick reason - auto-sabotage, perhaps. See, I think what would've been really cool is if when Arya stabbed TNK he didn't actually die immediately, since he technically should have to be stabbed in the heart (not side like she did in the show) to undo the Children's curse which made him the Night King in the first place. That way, maybe Arya and TNK could've fought a little, and then it would've given Jon the time to sweep in and land the killing blow like he always should've. Just a thought.

Benioff is a rich frat boy who never even went to school for screenwriting btw. Weiss also never accomplished much, but he was buddies with Benioff. yeah even Tyrion story was incomplete at the end of season 4 because DD omitted Tysha, the reason why Tyrion did that action at the end of season 4.

Season 5 still had elements from the books (been awhile since I either watched it or read the books, so I could give you a list of similarities.) The only one I know is Jon dying in the end of the book and season. It could be that was the only one since they moved Joffrey's death to later than the second or third book

Agreed. Drogon destroying the throne was Benoiff and Weiss trying to blow our minds by saying, "See? Drogon destroys the one thing that everybody in the show has been fighting over all this time!" But it WASN'T the one thing everyone was fighting over. Also, for Drogon to know that throne was important enough to burn, D&D needed to set up the idea that dragons are intelligent. But since they don't, the only thing we can assume is going on here is that Drogon really hates chairs.

Bran was crippled as a child, he overcame that learning to sit a saddle. In the woods, he was cut & attacked by wildling theives. He survived his home being burned down. He lost both his parents by age 10. Bran dealt with the grief of losing his youngest brother Rickon. He endured wind, cold, great danger & attempts on his life making the trip north beyond wall perilous. He watched others around him die. He was attacked by the night king & prevailed but bore a mark. He had a crash course on green seeing and lost his soul in the cave. Bran's life was not a picnic in the park as you portray it. He was much younger than Jon. Bran was never allowed to properly grieve his family. It was all taken away. He couldn't marry or ever father children. Poor guy made extreme sacrifices. Bran's existence was ugly. Jon had his romances, he got to ride & celebrate. But the little athlete that was Bran had everything taken away from him. Many might not find his story dramatic or exciting as Jon but the little guy certainly suffered more than most.

Everyone just lived through multiple wars and the ice zombie apocalypse. Some kid getting carried through the north learning mystic powers and the doing pretty much nothing with them except watching his sisters rape, finding out what his brothers friend already found out, being a witness in a bullshit trial, playing bait and browsing wheelchairs ain’t that impressive. Speaking on a meta level Bran is not even a character he is a Tool, D&Ds Swiss army knife. Some of what he does, like getting all the children killed, is justifiable. But then he turns into a get out of Jail free card. Sansa and Arya want to kill each other? Bran Magic solves that. The need to kill the smartest man in Westeroes in a bullshit trial? Him turning into and idiot and Bran Magic solves that. We need to lure the Knight King into a trap so Arya can one-shot the undead army? Him turning into an brain frozen idiot and Bran Magic solve that. We need Bran to not use Bran Magic to help and prevent anything that happens afterwards including the death of 500.000 civilians? Well unlike a character, who act on their desires, beliefs and motivations Bran is a Tool and we can just put it into a corner until we need it again. And finally we need a an ending and want it to be surprising. Bran magic! Why does he become King? Well people just put him their and he accepts; motivation, morality, desires? Those are for characters tools don’t need those. Sorry, if you like Bran but as a neutral party that is all I see when I consider him and I do enjoy making fun of tools pretending to be characters.
