And as time has gone on, his output has become less interesting. Nobody has proper cared about a Wayne project since Carter V. But even today, no one comes at Wayne for his inconsistency or the waning quality of his output (and they shouldn't). My point is, how can you say the reason Eminem doesn't belong in a GOAT list is because his catalogue is inconsistent, but then say Wayne, another rapper with a great but inconsistent catalogue, is the Goat? It's hypocritical and makes little sense. Also, just in general, what kinda of rapper with 3 classic albums "cannot" be considered one of the GOATs, what logic is that?

I'm pretty sure they used to do these surveys in Mall of America- which is Minnesota. If the question was "who would some midwestern whites think are the best rappers", this list isn't a surprise at all lol. They don't even know anybody new, and just the most heard names of those who are old
I actually understand this list, not defending it though. Tupac and B.I.G. are like MJ and Prince, so any casual would know them / Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent performed at the Superbowl recently / LL Cool J was really big in the 80s and was on NCIS / Jay-Z is married to Beyonce. They clearly polled Gen Xers for this list.

I believe this list is the result of them polling people who stopped listening to hip hop in the 2000s. It's a list from people who were mildly into rap music or just in passing and then completely tuned it out after 2000-something.
This isn’t a ranking of best rappers based on skill. Family feud normally asks 100 people their thoughts. So they made the list based on what 100 people said.

The answers on Family Feud are designed to be lowest common denominator and extremely basic, so they prob asked people's 50+ year old aunts and uncles in the survey beforehand lol. I was expecting LL Cool J to be up there
Remember seeing this on TV and being offensively surprised but then I remembered that this makes sense considering who they surveyed. Game shows are usually watched by middle aged housewives. I'm assuming a similar demographic was surveyed. Snoop for a while showed up on daytime TV often with Martha Stewart and in game shows. Ll Cool J is still a sex symbol to these old heads. Eminem and 50 were the hottest rappers to white Gen X'ers in the early 2000's. The rest are deemed default answers by cultural osmosis.
Completely overlooked Method & Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Gang Starr, as far as groups go, and how has Twista still not gotten his flowers for talks of one of the greatest RAPPERS. Twista would write circles around most rappers.
