Counterpoint to the poison-theory: The drain map clearly shows tunnels reaching beyond a clear and sudden border where the city stops. I'm going to assume that the Los Suenos drainage system reaches into Mexico, thus giving smugglers and Coyotes another entry point into the city if found.
The preview for the Coyote mission even mentions that the mission is about stopping Las Locos from using underground tunnels to get out of the city, so I'm pretty sure this is confirmed.

I believe that machine at 4:30 is an old analog music player (not sure what the name is). If I remember correctly, the paper in the center gives the machine (which is basically just a piano) instructions on what notes to play. Might be a player piano but it doesn’t have keys, so it might be based off of that or some even more niche old instrument.
In the german speaking parts of europe we have a similar traditional instrument, used to this day. It's called "Drehorgel" it's handriven but used the very same technique of holes in a paper to read which notes to play
This map is so much more interesting than I first thought, kind of cult-like. And the structure integrity of the houses by my estimates are "a few flash bangs away from ceasing to exist."
It screams CULT. I have a hard time believing it's just tweakers with all the disciplined drawings and cryptic symbolism and the strange alien bug drawings that look like they were made with a steady hand.
Dont forget about one detail in the Medical Center when u cover it. Going off of the attention to detail in the game, if you look around at some of the blocked entrances in the hospital level, you can find victims from the club shooting. The amount of thought put into each level is mind bowing. The first time i played the nightclub map i was clearing with some friends just learning the game i just got it like a week ago. I remember about midway through the map one of my friends mentioned all those damn phones ringing. and i remembered a part of the news reel or a doccumentary or something i had seen on youtube about the real nightclub shooting from years ago and the cop said it was heartbreaking hearing the phones constantly ringing. Because it was the friends and parents of victims trying desperatly to find out if they were okay. Just a little detail but it's VERY immersive.
Gamer gunk is in reference to an old dust-off ad where they had a "gamer" tell you to use their compressed air to clean your guitar hero accordion or something.

The fact the devs were able to get you to feel these feelings is crazy. Just know this is based of irl stories and raids. Imagine a real life voll, creepy, unsettling and making me kinda sick. But I love what the developers did for story telling via environment…
The cult-like trailer video for the Mariposas, the fact that Mariposa translates to 'Butterfly', the symbolism of butterflies and transformation (see: Silence of the Lambs), the contents of the buried dresser and the strangely unified drawings from the meth-heads? I think this points pretty strongly to an insectile, Lovecraftian entity of some kind being responsible for at least some of the events occurring. In many of Lovecraft's work: Dagon, the King in Yellow, Call of C'thulhu, Shadow Over Innsmouth, etc., the goal of the cultists was to find or unbury their gods, usually at the subliminal request of the entity. By the way, what's something that insects tend to have lots of? Eyes. Whether compound eyes like in flies, or just having a lot of them like spiders do. It's entirely likely that there is a supernatural element to this game's backstory.
Its also very very likely that something completely occult and strange is happening not just within Los Sueons but the world of RoN itself in the form of the white glowing eyes we see in the Coyote cave and also the oddly unrealistic person carved tree in Carriers of the Vine

4:30 is something like a mechanical piano/organ, though the pianos have keys and the organs have pipes, essentially the same tech as a music box but on a larger scale, the tell is the exposed punch-card/roll in the open segment of the top-front, the holes cause mechanisms within the device to move, striking keys or directing air to produce the proper notes.
Literally watched your Ready or Not vids yesterday and man these are good~ I hope that when the full release happens you will cover it, keep up the good work!
I like to think there's something deeper than just a cartel going on here. Obviously it's far fetched, but when I first saw the drawings and that tunnel system, my first thought was "these aren't just some junkies and dealers". It almost feels cult-like. Kind of like this one area I remember in Fallout 3 that was a heavy nod to Lovecraft. Plus, meth heads kinda fit Lovecraft's view of decadent people. The drawings as well don't seem like the kind of thing a tweaker could make. They look disciplined. The spider especially seems to be dripping with a level of symbolism I doubt your typical meth head could come up with. Now the idea of an eldritch cult in this game is a little far fetched. I doubt we will be fighting any Deep Ones any time soon. At the same time though, the idea that we could be stumbling across a cult in its infancy, before all the horrors come about, isn't impossible.
I was a cop for awhile and part of our off duty work was to secure an abandoned hotel. Place was a hangout for violent gang members as well as super substance enthusiasts. And a meth lab. The graffiti is surprisingly similar, and it was getting creepy when they started leaving us messages in places. Meth psychosis is weird especially with some dudes dropping X on site and creating murals much like what was in the house here. The detail and research in this game is nuts
You’d be surprised on how tweakers can get, the amount of psychosis they developed gives them a certain level of anxiety that makes one so detail oriented that they would be able to pull art like this off especially art as disturbing as this
I’d like to assume that the missing persons posters are real and just have weird dates due to dev oversight. It would make the shipping container in the back yard make sense, as the missing people could be getting abducted and then sent off to the port where we see the human trafficking ring. I might be connecting two unrelated things here, but it makes some sense in my opinion
Man, your lore and deep dive videos on Ready or Not are akin to what Vaati Vidya does for Soulsborne games. You're doing truly an amazing job, and this series is criminally underrated.
4:24 it’s a type of player piano, it has the punched tape in the right spot, but no piano keys which is strange. Unless it’s a type of old minicomputer, but it’s hard to tell because it bears the shape of a piano.
It just dawned on me but when the writing says 'Where's the drain.' It's referencing the older build of the map where the drug addicts managed to hit a sewer / drain that they were likely intending to use to move their drugs.

This map and the tunnel system is a clear reference to the movie "Sicario" where the cartel tunnel from Mexico underground so they can smuggle drugs from Mexico into the US via the tunnel system. The opening sequence referneces them buying up US houses on the border to use for the tunnel system.

In the For You gas station ad, the prices for chips and candy bars seem pretty cheap. Like, remarkably so. Is this consistent with with the known prices of other consumer goods from the game? I'm curious if there was just a massive deflationary crisis or something in the history of the game.
Also, I think the missing person's posters are just an oversight. I don't know how someone could have been last seen in 2035 if the mission is set at least a decade prior.
The device at 4:30 looks like a player piano. I knew a woman that had one, and there's one featured in an episode of Scooby Doo. Usually they have the usual keys and can be played like normal, but the thing in the center is a roll of paper with holes in it. I don't know exactly how it works, but it like air through the holes to know which note to play.
I think I found a new bit of evidence in this map, I am not entirely sure the dog cage in the backyard is currently being used for dogs, I think it might be linked to the human trafficking ring, there are 2 hostiles almost guaranteed to spawn right next to it, the "house" in it is a child's dollhouse and not a doghouse (that could be an example of resourcefulness by the meth heads) and it would be big enough for a teenager (maybe even a shorter/malnourished woman), the thing is set up so that you can't see it from the street or other properties, there is no evidence (at least that I could find) of anyone there ever owning a dog, there is one of those old strollers (I think they have a name but I don't know it, that is unlike me... I recognized the player piano right away).... I REALLY hope I am wrong...
That player piano looking thing is definitely not one of those, because it doesn't have keys. Could be some kind of "barrel organ"? The car on the old calendar is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle or Malibu. It only had that exact styling for one year, making it really distinctive.

I played this mission on Barricaded Suspects mode with my budy. We went searching the house. Normal things arresting and taking down bad guys. But when we reached the little girls room. I just snapped I searched every nook and cranny executing everyone. I just didn't care. I hated that instance. Still haunts me to this day.

the lore behind the posters is that its not the year 2035 it is the year 2050 and the posters are both very old i believe though that would explain why they look so old in the photos. perhaps its one of those fbi facial renders or whatever

los suenos may have a crime problem but it sure seems like it never feels the effects of inflation, a dollar for chips and 39 cents for a candy bar is an insane deal and i'l happily live in this shithole if other basic needs are as affordable.
And doing the math with this in mind 2028 plus cheys age of 22 would be 2050 and that mimus the date of dissapearance would be the age of a toddling 7 year old 15 years ago and we also know that the 32 yearold disapeared the same year at the age of 17. I'd have to say on top of Los Sueños being Gotham without Batman it's also San Diego wituout the active duty military presence. The in universe map displays that Los Suños is just north of Tijuana where San Diego should be. So far in Ready or Not there have been disgruntled veterans groups, but nothing mentioning any large active duty bases in the city. One of the only saving graces for San Diego and its Suburbs like Coronado is the presence of multiple large Navy and Marine Corps bases. San Diego still has the issues of other California metropolitan areas. With that being said the military bases act as a satabilizing force and make it so the issues there are smaller. With around 13% of the population of San Diego County being active duty servicemen (gainfully employed, mostly law abiding and drug free) it's one of the more functional metros in California. Sure there are still homeless, drug addicts, and gang members (including some who are in military units), but huge areas of San Diego are almost like a protective enclaves with military police or Department of the Navy Police officers keeping the issues of the city off base. Not so much in Los Sueños. It almost makes me wonder if the US in universe won in Vietnam at the cost of losing the Cold War since a largr portion of the Pacific Fleet and half of the USMC should be on a base in Los Sueños, but all we've seen is a bunch of vets who are having their VA benefits cut and foreign terror organizations like Los Locos and The Hand operating openly in what is a hugely strategic metro on the Mexico/America border.
