Also they are using one game (dragon age) to prove why what they do works. Watch no one will buy dragon age which doesn’t do any of this bs and they will say “see it don’t matter”
Oh, the double DRM _definitely_ has a purpose. Not a good one, but a purpose. Multiple, even. First, it lets them control stuff like Steam Family sharing. Or region locking people who are on vacation. Second, the telemetry. It can tell them who is playing what and how _exactly,_ without relying on a middleman.
I keep trying to play a far cry on my lunch break. But my steam deck keeps trying to log in to ubisoft. So I have to turn on a mobile hotspot, just to get into the game. I really really think this is just anti consumer behavior. Apparently if you pirate games, it bypasses all that. So you're basically getting a better experience, which is crazy
I just received my OLED. I've been enjoying it quite a lot. I have many hours in POE, and I am going to attempt to get all in order. I want my loot filter! I love my Deck!!! And I'm a senior gamer!
I will never support kernel level anticheat. It's essentially asking you to install a rootkit before you can play their video game. The recent Crowdstrike snafu tells you all you need to know about what can happen when you let third parties access the kernel when they don't need to.
Isn't Helldivers 2 still delisted in a lot of places? Yeah, they stepped back with the launcher, but they still stopped a lot of players from playing the game.
I like your channel and I think you could hit 100k. That said, I think there is a lot you can do to broaden the content of your channel to do so. Currently most if not all of your content is talking to camera about news updates and topics relating to the Deck. Broadening that to include things like visual performance metrics is one thing I can think of. Take a look at what other channels are doing with their Steam Deck content and ask yourself whether you could be doing the same or better. Good luck mate.
I remember playing Remnant 2 when I first got my Steam Deck, then an update happened and it stopped being supported. It kind of made me use my Steam Deck less for a while.
Man, Jsaux puts out a lot of good stuff but it really feels like each released product is disjointed with one another. As a deck owner who uses the vented backplate, it doesn't work optimally with the Jsaux modcase and likewise, it looks like it won't mesh well with the new dock from the video.
@@KyouHatesU The modcase, without accessories would have suboptimal airflow from the center vent since the modcase's cutaway hole isn't one-to-one with the backplate. And using something like the modcase's cooler kit accessory or the dock featured in the video, it completely will block out the backplate vent.
@@zipsnap That makes sense I have the first version of the backplate, that one doesn't have the middle cutout I prefer that one tbh, works fine with the Modcase But that's a big flaw and I've seen multiple people mentioning some design flaws
I'm neither an avid gamer nor an American and it still baffled me that EA completely left out PC from their list of platforms for College Football 25. For a game that is so reliant on cloud data for stats and visuals for f'in' 11,000 athletes, how do you not create the program for PC???
Hi Jimmy! I am one of your first 40,000 subscribers... keep up the awesome content you will eventually hit your goal of 100k subscribers. LOVE your podcast and also when you visit the guys over on the NerdNest podcast. Tips/Critique: Your current studio where you film your podcast is VERY DARK. You have a bunch of cool looking figurines and models on your shelves along with a couple of movie posters. SHOW OFF all of that cool stuff with BETTER LIGHTING. Display your entire movie poster collection. You are wearing black and your studio is very dark which makes you kind of disappear into the background. Not sure if that is the effect you are going for. Just a couple of suggestions but think about the lighting and maybe create a future podcast where you give us viewers a tour of your studio and all the goodies in the background. Changing topics... Totally agree about the DRM/Launchers being such a hassle on Steam. Is there a filter that can be toggled on/off in the Steam Storm for such games? It would be nice to execute a search and tick a box that will eliminate these games from the search results. But like you said, why should the studios enforce this DRM malarky anyway when Steam already provides a level of DRM??? It is redundant and frankly stupid. Finally, thanks for suggesting the spooky game CONSCRIPT. I am going to pull the trigger on that one. CONSCRIPT reminds me of a movie from 2018 called OVERLORD... a WWII horror movie. Two thumbs up for OVERLORD, give it a watch if you have not already seen it! Again... keep up the awesome work and thanks for all the tips for the Steam Deck!!!
Steams compatibility rating really needs to be overhauled, I'm running starship troopers extinction, at about 20 frames per second and it's actually pretty stable 200 hours in only one soft crash
I gave up on docks since I have the dbrand killswitch and I just use the kickstand on that and was plugging my dock into my deck but not as a dock, just a dongle. I use a expensive tunderbolt breakout dongle I got for a macbook but it has a longer cable and it has more than what my other docks had. I feel a kickstand attached to the Steam Deck is more stable than a dock to balance it in. Plus when taking my deck places that dongle is smaller than the docks I had anyway.
I've been following your channel for over a month now, I really enjoy your videos, the mix of information + your own thoughts is always nice to hear. The only thing I'd say as feedback is: when people comment negatively or criticize, there's no need to mention that in your comments. The "people complains that $40-$60 bucks is too expensive" is true but the message could have been delivered like "And yeah, I know, money doesn't grow in trees, I feel you! But hear me out, other accessories get crazy expensive and this one has more features!" I'm so buying that JSAUX, btw! I have their case with hard front cover and fan, both super high quality so a dock for my deck will work flawlessly. Take care, my dude, I will keep hitting that like button and I hope you get to the 100K subs soon!
I don’t understand why they can’t make anti cheat work on the steam deck. The halo master chief collection has anti cheat and it now works on the steam deck but even before they fixed it you could still disable anti cheat in order to play the single player campaign.
My guess is that the Ally, Legion Go, AyaNeo and the likes are the reason as for why Ubisoft, EA and the likes don't bother with SteamOS compatibility very much. It sucks but it is what it is. Personally, I don't support such companies anymore.
So this is a question for Jimmy. Since I can only afford 1 being a steam deck or some competitor. What do you feel I should get? I honestly feel confused now with the Asus rog x. I'll mainly be playing games like elden ring and other type games on it. With how expensive they are. Even going with the steam deck oled. I just want want to spend that kind of money and regret my purchase. And I trust your judgement. This would include even a new version of the steam deck that would be coming out. If wait for it to come out and your review on it.
For companies like that there is only a SINGLE viable solution! You have to shove it in those greedy companies face and finally start sailing the high seas! The Steam Deck is such an amazing device because you can do everything you want with it. Installing all the games you want, no matter where they come from.
08:00 Well, it was always marked as unsupported, so if you bought it on Steam Deck, that is your problem. Get a Windows handheld, they are so much better.
Fun fact. 80% of you views not being subscribed is a good thing. It means your videos are being shown to new people. If that number ever drops too low, that's when you know you have a problem.
What sucks is EA is using one game (dragon age) to prove why what they do works. Watch no one will buy dragon age which doesn’t do any of this bs and is very Steam friendly. When it doesn’t sell they will say “see it don’t matter” and continue with their bs
I do prefer windows, but it's not really games. It's really just everything. Game pass, youtube, Netflix, vortex mod loader, etc. With newer phones not having an SD slot. It's nicer to offload some onto my windows handheld. Not to mention, you can sync your Android and Windows handheld wireless.
Are all Deck users this entitled? If a game works well on Windows then the game is not broken, unless they directly describe Linux as a supported OS. If proton or wine have problem emulating some parts of a game thats Valve problem. I have like 20 years using Linux and i kind of hate what Proton have cause, less and less devs are supporting Linux native gaming. The solution should be to have those anticheats or feature natively suppoeted not just on Deck but on Linux as a whole.
If the Steamdeck was a large enough market devs would be porting their games to Linux. None of these devs "support the SteamDeck". Some may claim to, but it's just PR with little to no effort from them. Proton is maintained by Valve. It's entirely on them along with the people working on the Wine Project which Proton pulls from. EA didn't remove support. They never cared about supporting the SteamDeck. It was by pure chance that said game worked and it is entirely their own prerogative to do what they like with their IPs.
as for porting their games to linux - there's no stable api for linux per se, you always have progress/moving target, it works in linux world because of the openness, you can always compile everything from source and if it compiles, it should work. flatpak/snaps isnt the panacea people make it out to be in this case, you should now if you used at least once.
@@dziadek_gruz there is a stable "API". Linux uses Vulken. What IS in flux, which you touched on, is the packaging system. This shouldn't matter because installation is managed by Steam. Surely steam can handle the raw binaries and Steam is already packaged in enough formats to support every major distro. Nobody's gonna install their games on Linux outside of Steam so creating an unpackaged binary for Linux should be more than adequate. If this ISN'T how Steam handles game installations then maybe Valve should develop their own packaging system handled exclusively by the steam client that would be an easy and obvious no-brainer for game devs.
If 80% of your viewers aren’t subscribed then why do you care about subscribers? People watching regardless. Do you get paid by viewership or subscribers?
Stupid costumer they need no good games and love it to pay for a game with 1000 dlcs and ingamshops... ich hate the most "gamers" today they buy everything without brain. Sry for my bad english
While not by a lot, the z1 extreme dose runs everything and a bit faster. We're only talking 5%-10% it's definitely not a ton. I will say currently my OLED Steamdeck has the best 1% lows.
wrc is the worst game i got it sucks. i have a sim rig and i loved dirt rally but the wrc is trash. ever update i have different problems im so sick or trying to play it and steam wont give me a refund for it i hate iti went back to dirt rally
@@MrSmexy702 we could all write off handhelds by saying just get a laptop, you can get a 3 year old laptop for the price of a steam deck that will wipe its butt with a steam deck all day every day in almost every way, but thats not what we want is it, we enjoy the handheld form factor and most of us would take an ally X in a heartbeat as long as we could afford to do so... And indeed i did. The better response would have been... shut up about the ally, its a steam deck channel and community ;)
