How can New York Red Bull despise New York City FC for buying their way into the league? Are they oblivious to the existence of other Red Bull sides?
@LukasNotLucasYT
@LukasNotLucasYT 6 лет назад
evan NYRB was originally the NewYork/NewJersey Metrostars. The ownership change happened in 2006. The club still actively admires our past and so do our fans. My issue with NYCFC is that their fans are a bunch of douchebags. In our US Open Cup match against them in June they literally broke a whole row of seats in our arena. They claim to be a real club when they don’t have a real stadium and a consistent fan base. Their attempts to find a new stadium have been pathetic. They share stadiums with the New York Yankees (baseball team). This season the Yankees performed surprisingly well and made it to the playoffs. One of their games coincided with NYCFC so they had to play somewhere else. The “experienced and qualified professionals” at NYCFC decided to move their game to over 2 hours away in a different state. They are one of the biggest laughing stocks in the league, and only exist because of sheikh mansour.

I'm not the biggest MLS fan but credit where credit is due. The league has progressed a lot since its conception. As someone who has attended matches in both Europe and the US, the quality of play and the fan culture obviously isn't near the level of say the Prem or Bundesliga but it's rapidly growing. Big ups to the MLS and its supporters. Don't listen to all the haters that have no idea about the league and only hate on it due to their irrational biases. One of the advantages of not having relegation is every team has a chance to win. The MLS has different champions because they have financial rules to prevent a team from buying the best players available. To MLS fans, it’s worth it rather than seeing the euro leagues have the same damn team win all the time.
@flashgordo1781

@raalaan9092
@raalaan9092 5 лет назад
HazardlyNP I feel like the main reason why there is no promotion or relegation in the MLS is that there just isn't enough popularity to create enough teams for multiple tiers/leagues. Soccer just doesn't have the same influence here that it does over in Europe. With any luck that will change in time, but for now, we're happy with what we have.
@aaronm8143

That's just how pro leagues are here in the United States. You don't drop level of play if you lose the league. It's impossible for the NFL since there isn't a lower league. Question, are college/university sports a big deal in the UK like over here, or no?
@colbydenton2050

They dont have the financial ability to. Part of the reason for that is that there is no national tv coverage of the 2nd tier here. At least i havent been able to see it. I cant even watch Indy Eleven games and theyre the biggest club in my state. The people in charge here dont want to create a culture around the game, they just want profits. Hopefully within the next few decades the literally thousands of clubs in the US will all have a fair chance.

Daniel van Maanen...Americans don’t get football violence. But Europeans didn’t until about 1998. England created this football thug culture but the authorities called us “The English Disease” whenever it kicked off. All over the BBC and radio if a fan even runs into the pitch now. They’ve ruined it in England’s Premier League. You have to go to the Championship and lower leagues for the non plastics now. Sheffield Utd have just been promoted so maybe they can do some old school thuggery. Real fans love it.

Carlo Clemente is that why Italy were banned from European competition in the 80’s then! Italy have never even been in the Premier League of football trouble. Italy have absolutely no name or reputation. In fact...as most English thugs will tell you...Italy are known as melts. 20,000 British soldiers took OVER 1 MILLION Italian soldiers in North Africa during the war. The joke about the shortest book in history being “Italian war heroes” or what colour is the Italian national flag? White! For surrender. And do you know what many Italian (Roma for one if I recall?) fans used to do? On their mopeds they’d drive up behind the opposition fans with Stanley knives and cut behind the knee. Why? Maybe so they can’t be chased? Those are all facts. Give me one back. By the way mate...Ultras are embarrassing. Face painting, drum banging flag waving nonsense. Which suggests to real hooligans that Italy just don’t get it. And they never did. Which glory team do you support mate? Jive? AC? Inter? Lazily?

One of the challenges shared by MLS and the A-league in Australia is geographic vastness of both countries meaning away fans are in small numbers. Resident Sleeper thank you very much for being more open minded as well. Americans understand that European leagues are better (and I usually watch more of the EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, than the MLS tbh) but we're trying to enjoy the sport as much as we can because we obviously can't enjoy European leagues in person, so this is all we got, so when people hate on it, it sucks

As an American, fans don't really even care about the regular season. Every game mean so much to teams in Europe because only one team wins. As where in the mls 12 teams make the playoffs, thus making the regular less important.

Thanks for making this video. Even if it's sponsored by adidas and the MLS I went to the Portland Seattle game in Seattle and is was incredible. Best game I've been to atmosphere wise. I also went to Vancouver during the trip as well. Beautiful city and great culture and just a great trip. The best part was the march to the stadium and there was a park where all the fans hung out. I was really jealous of that and hope it come to Colorado soon. Really recommend it and was just so heart warming to see that my sport, football, has made a step hold in my country. Hopefully it spreads throughout.

To see the MLS grow gives me so much joy, not to mention, pride! I mean we're talking about a league that has been around since the early 90's but really had to earn the right to get where it has today. There aren't a lot of countries that have other sports dominate the media like the U.S., and yet we have a pride as Americans and Canadians to see our level of play grow and our supporters passionately support something that means more to them than just another sporting event. We all love this game, who cares about who has the best league, it should always be about progress no matter what continent you're on.

Joseph Garcia Garber...Garber cares about MLS being the best league. He literally said he wants MLS to be one of the top leagues by 2020. This isn't the first time he's made goalpost for this either. For him it's more about making the sport big to make more money than progress. He used to work for the NFL, he's used to working with the best.

😂 😂 😂 😂 mls is a retirement league. Most fans in the US support a player over a club. How many Americans claimed they were Barcelona fans and then became psg fans when neymar Jr went to psg. That American golden boy in Germany as well jezze America your not relevant in football. Your players are lazy and lack the hunger to learn and play in Europe. Which is the best way to go for your players. Learn how its done in Europe and go back to the mls and take that experience and develop players.

just face it no one gives a shit about the mls it’s where are players retire because of the nice weather and it’s not that good a league since players who can no longer perform well enough in our leagues go to the mls so it’s time for the mls to stop thinking it’s the shit cuz no one gives a shit about it and no team will ever be better than Europe teams because there is no trophy to be won which matters unlike champions league premier league

American football is as yet young, underdeveloped, slightly confused, and sadly it came into the world at a suboptimal time (with the rise of the super rich owners) but I'm enjoying watching it grow and develop. I think American soccer fans (yes, I'm using both. Get triggered) need to let it grow organically, and let the sport come first and the atmosphere around it follow that. And for the love of all that is holy, stop putting so much emphasis on the foreign players and focus on American talent. That's the REAL way to ascend both as a league and as a Football/Soccer nation
@bradmichalson1900

To me personally... the MLS will ALWAYS have my heart with me being an Los Angeles Galaxy fan. But... being that I watch A LOT of Premier League if I had to compare a young Darby in the MLS to one Darby in the Premier League I would say the Cascadia Cup would take the cake in my opinion so take that with a grain of salt being that they're so many GOOD DARBY MATCHES in the Premier League. Bringing it back to Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle Cascadia Cup battles, It's just so much history with those 3 clubs and North American Soccer/Football in general.The supporters brought that cup which is still crazy to this day. It just show how much passion those club supporters have. Hopefully the LAFC vs L.A. Galaxy rivaly lives up to the hype.

Chicago was beating Man U’s starting 11 until we brought in the rookies to give them the experience. 3. Chicago, Toronto, NYCFC, and Cascadia would survive in the BPL. Soccer isn't popular enough in the United States to allow for a financially viable pro/rel system. The second and third divisions in the united states are like non league level teams in England. They are largely semi pro and no team could financially survive going down a division, it would force them into insolvency.

I don't hate the MLS but I'm sure sick of hearing about it. I'm from Australia and the A-League has its moments but I don't expect the larger football community to be that interested. It's like the US Copa90 fans can't let it go that the rest of the world just isn't that interested, which isn't that unusual for a non-European, non-champions league competition. The reality is the most interesting leagues are where the higher stakes are, where the biggest prizes can be won which is most definitely European football. Like I said I don't hate it, I'm just not that interested and I don't particularly appreciate lots of MLS content being thrown in my face.

I've been to the US and watched two MLS games, back in 2010. The first was Philadelphia Union against the NYRB and the second, RBNY v The Revolution. Me and my mates have an affinity to Philadelphia through personal relationships and so we chose the Union as our North American club. While the supporter culture I witnessed did nothing for me, I recognised it was different and the football was good enough that I enjoyed my two game experience. Union won 2-1 from memory and the NYRB v NER is a distant memory and forgotten game. I'm a West Ham supporter from London and my only real football passion. I live and breath West Ham (or 'am in Cockney) and it becomes part of day to day existence. Those outside of it never understand. But supporter culture is miles apart as it is from any other major football country. Good luck to the MLS, especially Philly Union. Look forward to that friendly game in the future.

Jared Raymer You are totally right and anyway that is not the North american way, in Europe people only breath soccer (or football if you want) and a bit about Rugby, so they will still support the team if it's relegated. In north america people do not care about only 1 sport, depending on the areas we care about 4 major sports more than soccer, Football (american), Basket ball, Hockey and Baseball. Relegations would never work because as soon as a team would get relegated a lot of people would stop to care about it and go back watching the other 4 sports.

There's also El Trafico, the LAFC and LA Galaxy derby. Some other ones are the Hell is Real Derby between Columbus and Cincinati and the proposed name of "Tropic Thunder Derby" between Orlando and Inter-Miami FC.

Good luck MLS. Spread the beautiful game to the States and Canada. Get relegation/ promotion sorted and get NY Cosmos into the big time. Looking forward to LAFC starting next season

I really hope the plans for MLS Miami expansion take place. Probably one of the largest Latin American populations in the United States and we could have a chance to channel that intense passion we have for our clubs back home. No doubt a Miami-Orlando rivalry would match any of these. Who needs a second LA club when one of the largest potential markets for a club is still untapped.

+AG O That’s only still a bitter rivalry in the minds of Rangers fans... Celtic are more worried about how they do in the Champions League each season than about beating Rangers

Its probably one of the worst derbys these days. Boring play style and a almost obvious result.

English fan here: Both the NY clubs in this are so fucking corporate and manufactured. Cosmos deserve to be in that league far more than either of them plastic clubs do. The Cascadia rivalries look good though, quality fan culture and looks a lot of fun. The Toronto-Montreal rivalry shoulda been mentioned, one of the few real deep-rooted rivalries in the MLS that transcends football. Also, if Americans want to know why we struggle to respect your league, I went to an MLS game last year, and not just any, it was a play-off between Montreal and NYRB, hardly some meaningless game, and the attendance was dire (like 20% of the stadium at most). Until this is sorted out (which in all fairness it does seem to be changing), Europeans are really gonna struggle to look at your league as anything other than a corporate, manufactured and plastic league. Also the absolute nerve to compare seeing the birth of NYCFC - a club manufactured by a large corporate entity and immediately put into the top league because money - to the birth of a club like Liverpool - a club made by local working class people in their own neighbourhood to represent their community - is beyond a joke.

MLS is a pay-to-play league. If you want a club, it's a $100M+ entry fee. As romantic as it is to have a club start from the ground up like in Europe, it's not the American dream. Get rich quick!

If you support a team from a different country to your own you have no right to call MLS fans plastic.

@luisrosales9349
@luisrosales9349 6 лет назад
Joe Platt the rivalries started before the cities even had a team because people always have a rivalry. New York natives and people from Boston don't like each other they always want to be better. So naturally that carries over to sports. It was in baseball, eggball and now that they have MLS teams the rivalry carried on their
