Keep hoping for the day you redo your garage. You should paint, put in some cabinets, work bench, hangars and organizers for all your stuff, and more lighting. I just painted mine this weekend, next will be building cabinets and hangars. All using a French cleat system.

The "landscapers" in my state really need to see this. They have a sand phobia. Any area to be turfgrass or landscaping that has sandy soil or sand is immediately buried in clay. I then have the job of getting rid of the clay so the turf and landscaping is manageable.

I’d love to keep my Palmetto at a higher cut but it just kept getting heat stressed. Since I dropped it only one notch on the mower it is tolerating the Perth (Australia) summer a lot better. It is only six months old (laid from the turf farm) so I’m focusing on root development to increase its heat and drought tolerance. Hopefully next summer I can bring the height back up without the heat stress. In Western Australia we have heavy water restrictions and phosphorus regulations, so it’s a little tricky to work around. Love the vids!

Since the roots are intact it would be interesting to place each of them into a hydroponic system and continue the experiment. I bet they would glow out of control once they actually got water into the system as well.

Al, could you touch on Poa Annua, maybe in the podcast? I live in Western, NY and had a lot of Poa last year. I used Dithiopyr in the Fall and am curious... will that prevent Poa Annua entirely this season? Should I be expecting to see 90% less in year 1, or does it take years? Thanks.

if you get it down prior to temps falling to 70F in fall you have the best chance. As far as effectiveness there are many factors that contribute there but def if you got down a proper app (which I know you did!) you should see a marked improvement. Plus, hope for the best !!!

Hey Allyn, thanks for mentioning hydretain. I looked into it since I have never heard of it. I have some spots in my lawn that seem to not hold water as well as other spots and I am looking forward to trying it out. Also, I see that you have some Zoysia. I would really appreciate it if you did some videos on taking care of the zoysia and possible getting the stolens to spread a little quicker. I'm trying to get my zoysia to spread and choke out the bahia over in the Tampa Bay area (your are not far so you have similar climate). Any info you have would be great. I have used bayer advance 3in1 last year, and while it did help prevent crabgrass and carpet grass, the premergent slowed down the stolen growth and the weed killer put a hurting on the bahia so now I have resod the bahia (which will get replaced with more zoysia).
