I am Italian and Henry is still today my favorite player of all time, when I play in football tournaments I always choose the 14 if I can. The Italian defense in those years was incredible and unique in every role and Henry was the perfect opponent for a great great show.

There’s this myth that Henry wasn’t a big game player. He was so much more than goals and often when he didn’t score he would have registered an assist or a man of the match performance

Imagine Henry in the Modern game, there wouldn't be a defender left on the opposing pitch, the top defenders could only foul him, often blatant reds, he was unplayable.

I can tell you, as an Italy fan during that era, NO ONE was scarier than Henry. Zidane not even close. Zidane gets all the hype now for some reason but Henry was always the best player on that French team during that era. Every time he got the ball, it was terrifying. He was always capable of magic.

I well remember this game. This Henry was crazy good. TH at 22 was better than Mbappe at the same age. Henry 2000> Mbappe 2020 Mbappe was more precocious, i mean Mbappe 20 > Henry 20, but starting at 22, TH became someone else. And i think there were a lot more great player back then. At tha time, the name's greatest were : Zidane, Djorkaef in France Figo in Portugal, Ronaldo, Rivaldo in Brazil Batistuta, Redondo in Argentina Totti, Del Pierro, Maldini in Italy, Bergkamp, Seedorf in Netherlands, Raoul in Spain etc.... Today, compare these name with Benzema, Old Cristiano, old Messi, Neymar, Verrati, Chiesa, Van Djik, De Bruyne, Salah etc... Compare Maldini, Canavaro, Nesta, Stamp, Thuram, Cafu, Carlos with Van djik, Bonucci, Rudiger, Alexander Arnold... Not the same things!

How I wish players like Neymar and others will learn from how Henry gets genuinely rough and tough tackled, falls down, even from career wrecking tackles and GETS BACK UP, STANDS UP IMMEDIATELY TO CONTINUE PLAY. Footballers like Neymar etc will do well in the MOVIES. This was even in an era when Strikers were not as protected as in recent times.

What a strong defense. Because of that the stats doesn't mean everything. I don't think Messi and even Ronaldo have the same stats with this kind of defense. In this area the defense were very very strong particularly in Italy.
