Not only does Usopp need to deal with his shame and feelings of inadequacy because he couldn’t protect their money, how do you think he’ll feel when he finds out that the ship Kaya gave him, the ship he has been repairing and taken care of as best he could, is damaged beyond repair? This is a rough episode for Usopp!

"Just get a new ship?!" Cold-blooded, dude. That's their home! Usopp's connection to Merry isn't about Kaya. Showing up at the Franky Family House was not the best choice, but he didn't feel he could go back to his crew without at least trying. This arc isn't going to go the way you expect.

Beo, you legit went from spiraling about why Luffy was so concerned about the Pigeon, to there is something up with this pigeon and "why are we listening to this pigeon for several minutes?" Luffy was saying that about the pigeon last episode, and the going Merry is their home.

@@Timberzy99 The ship is essentially their liberator. Each of them have had issues in life and the ship is the one thing that allows them escape to the seas and accomplish their dreams. The series isnt always explicit and sometimes there are moments where it pays to think deeper about specific topics. At the same time, this is your experience and everyone’s experience is their own. Experience it in a way that only you can. Although I know this is youtube and both viewers and content creators have expectations so ignore me and do what is best for you lol.

What I love about first time watchers is they don't know what character will end up joining the crew. And since they came to the city of shipwrights to find a new crew member, theres so many options. I'm curious to see which of the ship wrights you expect to join the crew.

one thing to remember is that usopp's dream is to be a brave warrior of the sea, and right now he's dealing with HUGE inadequacy issues regarding that. He went by himself to prove (mostly to himself) that he isn't garbage, that he didn't let the crew down, that he can get the money and prove he is worthy of being a straw hat and a pirate. the crew being so attached to merry may seem weird from a purely logical stand point, but it's not about being logical with them. THey're extremely attached to the merry, they've been through a LOT with it, they started their time as a crew with the merry. THey see it as a crew member, not jsut a disposable object, so they are desperate to try and deny the reality, because they don't want to say goodbye to the merry. Because saying goodbye, in their eyes, would be the same as saying goodbye to say Chopper, or Nami, or even Usopp.

That makes sense and from an emotional standpoint Usopp's action make sense. I will say I do kind of understand why the Merry is meaningful to them, I just am not at that point where I saw it as a crew member. It will probably be more impactful as I watch more and really think about it.

Water 7 is one of the best arc man if you think it's good now your not ready for the rest also I like how you react to these episode just hovering around then pausing to make commentary and you post daily keep up the good work.

3:06 yep. After a while you just get desensitized. It actually becomes weirder when a character doesn't have something random and peculiar about them like a traffic cone sticking out of their throat or something.. I made that example up, hopefully that doesn't become a spoiler some day 😅

this is about Usopp's insecurities, its about how he's feelings about himself in contrast with the crew, its about fixing somenting that he's doing his best to care since day one, its not about what luffy can do now or after in his perspective, we all know what he's capable of, this is about 'whats Usopp is capable of' when it matters, when he is the in charge of something so precious to him, the Mary, the crew's money... and he's failing miserably. for this arc you'll have read things more for an emotional angle than ever, not only for Usopp but others in order to get full picture in the end, i hope you can enjoy it fully!
