I wish the Lost Lennon Tapes interviews with Mintz would be released as podcasts just like the McCartney Lyrics podcast

James McCartney is an excellent singer song-writer with a few EPs and two LP albums called Me and The Blackberry Train. Blackberry Train is a great album, I had an awesome time seeing him live and meeting him after the show. I'm really with how active the sons of The Beatles are. I ordered the new Sean Lennon and I'm so excited for that and I can't wait for the Dhani album.

Similar to Darren and Allan, I'm treating the news of the Beatles biopics with a mixture of intrigue and an abundance of caution (Allan's body language at 6:40 😄). From what I've seen on social media it's Gen Z fans who are most excited about this announcement, so at least that's something. No mention of Paul's Höfner being found though?

We had a rather long section on Paul's Hofner being found. Or at least, we spent a while discussing it before the show - did we forget to include it???

Is not the picture you see the beatles painting on the back of the album oldies but goldies the pic that just sold at auction, and Ken if you see this does the passing of Denny Laine affect vol 3 of Allans book.

Maybe we’ll get some isolated tracks when they show recording sessions in the movies. (Thanks MAL)

If there's a sequential release, the first one released gets to define the territory, which is potentially invidious. Who gets pole position?

4 films is a great way to ensure that equal time is given to the second class Beatles. Likely made it easier to get approval from Ringo and Olivia.

It would be wonderful if you could get Pete Best on your show. His interviews with mainstream hosts tread over the usual ground, but I'd love to hear what he has to say in response to smart questions posed by historians, researchers, and well-informed fans such as yourselves.

Owen Gleiberman in Variety wrote an excellent op-ed on the Beatle biopics. He says the mistake is not just in Mendes handling the project, but that all four should have separate directors, such as Martin Scorsese, Richard Linklater, or Todd Haynes --- who he says "have used pop music [in their films] with the expressiveness of action painters." Mendes has not demonstrated such an interest in music, so how did Mendes earn the right to handle the "ultimate tricky subject for a biopic, since their story is so wrapped up in mythology," Gleiberman asks. Another problem he notes: "Consider the following scenario. Sam Mendes releases his first Beatles movie, and no one much cares for it. Are we then stuck, irrevocably, with three more Mendes Beatles movies? It's an astute op-ed. Not sure if I can post links in comments, but you can easily find it.

15:54 Ah! Finally, someone who had the same reaction to the ELVIS movie; I turned it off after about 20 minutes of cockamamie cacophony.

I wish Julian had some input along with Sean. For the life of me, I can't think why he wouldn't have equal say in his father's estate. And exactly what happens to the Lennon and Harrison estates when Sean and Dhani are no longer here?

Hi lads, RSD in the Uk is not selling any of the Beatle 3 inch singles as they are in Usa. And as i have mentioned many times Ringo has not toured the UK since 2010.Any ideas why?

Fellas, it's possible that Sam Mendes puts together an excellent series. It's entirely possible that it could happen. As Mark Lewisohn has said, the story of the Beatles is kind of the greatest story ever told. The Beatles, themselves, didn't have high hopes for Yellow Submarine and look how that one turned out. I suppose it's just as possible that it won't be great, but...really, what's at stake? Nothing. 4 further opportunities to watch more Beatle-related material.

Mendes is no dummy, I’m sure he has some sort of a creative concept he sold all parties involved on that we are not privy to at the moment. And with the AI ‘de-mixing’ technology that only gets better by the day, literally anything musically is possible. My only concern is being able to find four talented individuals who can even compare on a charisma level with the Beatles. I’ve seen that be lacking in other films/adaptations about not only the Beatles, but other charismatic figures as well… Elvis, Sinatra, etc.… Not that any of these portrayals have been particularly weak (although some have for sure), I imagine that it would just be difficult to find four people who blend as actors, and can captivate as charismatically as the Fab Four… or any notable historical figure, for that matter. Just my two cents. But then again, Sam Mendes knows what he’s doing and would not invest his time or energy and something he didn’t feel worthwhile. He is one of the great filmmakers of our age. Not kissing butt, just pointing out the obvious.
