4:56 I'm sure most ThinkPad users already know this but you can easily cycle through the two-stage keyboard backlighting by pressing Fn + Space Bar; you don't have to pull up a menu.
Nice review. Thank you. I just received my X1 Yoga Gen 6 today. Bought it on Black Friday - i7 11gen G7 CPU/16Gb Ram/1Tb HD/400 NIT display - $1,150. 9 months ago the same configuration was over $2,000 so I was shocked at the Black Friday price. Went with the Gen 6 instead of Gen 7 for 2 reasons: 1. Better battery life. 2. Half the price of the Gen 7 for similar configuration. Battery life is important to me as is the anti-reflective matte finish display. I have a 2 year old HP Spectre 360. Good machine but the high gloss display drives me nuts at times. Also I don't like the track pad right smack in the middle. I prefer it slightly offset to the left to that the palm of my hand isn't accidentally touching it. The AMD CPU is the best for battery life but it was not an option. I will be setting it up over the next couple days.
Thank you! Congrats to your new X1 Yoga, that's some decent saving you got there. I think choose wisely when you picked Gen 6 over Gen 7, there isn't a huge difference between the two
@@Decoding_Labs After using it for 2 weeks I can say with confidence that it is a very well built machine. Its also fast and great battery life. The one thing I don't like that Lenovo does is override Windows power settings. Drove me nuts and I almost returned it (thought something was wrong with it). I went into Lenovo Advantage and found it has something called 'human recognition' that hibernates the laptop after about 10 seconds of idle regardless of Windows power settings. Took me a few days to figure it out but I turned that off and it was perfect. I upgraded the OS to Windows 11 Pro. The Start menu really sucks. I installed 'Start11' from Stardock and turned it back into Windows 10 start menu. Truly great computer once its configured to your preferences and no bloatware!
@@treydrier3169 thanks for getting back to me, nice to hear you’re enjoying your new laptop. Yes human presence feature isn’t for everyone, I personally also disable it among first things when I setup new laptop. I think you can move Windows 11 menu bar to left (similar experience as Win 10)
@@Decoding_Labs Yes you can move the menu bar to the left but Win 11 but Start menu really sucks. I don't know what Microsoft was thinking. With Start 11 from Stardock you can choose Win 10 , Win 7 or a custom Start menu. Its really nice and only $5.
Just a couple things about the video. Your audio levels are very unbalanced. Speaking volume is incredibly low that I had to turn you up during the intro but when it's switched over the music it was hella loud and almost got the shit on me LOL anyways thanks for the review
Excellent review….. Thank you….ThinkPad X1 Yoga is still a ThinkPad. 😃. I pray to get one January 2022. Should I buy now or wait for Gen 7? I love the ports on X1 Yoga……
@@grantgeorgia1 when I ordered it, the ETA was 3-4 months. I just received an email yesterday saying that it's been shipped. It's only been a week since I put in the order. Way sooner than I expected 🥳
