I think on life 30 ryu fell straight into the lava in the first jump . just walked right off. definately wat happened. brought shame to his whole family and lineage.
Here are my theories on life 30. We know he died before 24:30 since he is surprised to find out there is no hidden block. If you slow down the video and look at the start of life 29, we can see Ryu clearly looking to the left. We can also see Ryu doesn't have his hands on the controller 23:59 This could mean he was distracted by something and had to put down the controller(He would have paused the game and restarted mid level). This would be viable from an editing standpoint, since Ryu wouldn't want to include the distraction. This could have been some sort of software glitch or something outside. The more popular theory is that he died in an embarrassing way. This means Ryu would have had to let go of his controller in fury and grab it within about 5 seconds, while also putting on a poker face and saying "We might actually have a decent stage here". I don't know if it's just me, but his smile is a lot bigger here, which supports that on life 30 the death was embarrassing rather than caused by a distraction. Now, where did he die? *First lava pit* : This would constitute as embarrassing, but it's contradicted by Ryu saying "We might actually have a decent stage here". This means that he played enough of the level to judge it decent. However, in SMM1 SMB levels were commonly better in quality, so Ryu may have judged that way. This theory has some support, but not definitively. *Piranha plants out of pipes at* 24:11 : All obstacles before this seemed easy to dodge by Ryu's standards, so he could have died by jumping down on the pipes before the Piranha plants came out. This seems unlikely, since at 14:27 Ryu did a big jump over the pipe to avoid a potential piranha plant. It would be safe to assume he would wait a bit before jumping on a pipe then. Ryu also the breaks the "hold right" rule by going in the left pipe first, as if he had already checked the right pipe before. The only support for getting killed by a piranha plant is Ryu saying "Stupid plants". This theory seems weak and would require more concrete evidence to be viable. This theory also weakens the lava pit theory, since Ryu would have had to pass the lava pit on life 29 to get to the Piranhas. *Cheep Cheep, Blooper, Fire Bar at* 24:20 : The Cheep Cheep killing Ryu would have been considered embarrassing, but other than that, there aren't any other conclusions. It is interesting that the footage is sped up though. *Next Piranha and Blooper at* 24:23 : This doesn't seem likely, since Ryu appears surprised by the Piranha plant, which wouldn't make sense if he died there. And by 24:30 we definitely know he didn't make it to this part on life 30. Personally I think the Cheep Cheep killed him, but what do you guys think? And is there any evidence I missed?

@@rijsmiddel8765 Sure. I'm white knighting a level on a game I don't play or create for, for a person I've never met. It's definitely not like "Vs Mechabowser" level of quality, but it's not a 'bad' level, and someone made the point that Ryu has given much worse levels a star. That's what I'm getting at, and people that agree with that statement are constantly getting shut down. Why is it such a bad thing to think it's not a bad level? Or would you rather have the 1 million New Soup speedruns, or a Dashie Troll level? It might not have been executed perfectly, but it's not bad and had some interesting ideas, and Ryu hated on it because he made his own mistakes which he even admitted to (The mistakes part) once or twice. But sure. Call me a white knight because I'm going against what Ryukhar said it was. I like the man -- this is the second or third time I'm going through his entire Mario Maker playlist -- but it's not like he's a God that's always right.
I've decided... i am going to go watch all of these and grade them on a scale of 0-5. 0 would be lost. 1 would be success with 1-19 lives. 2 would be 20-39 lives. 3 would be 40-59. 4 would be 60 to 79. 5 would be 80-100. Episode 11 is a 2 with 29 lives. The mystery of life 30 will remain forever.
I have seen you give stars to the weirdest and trolliest level but you didn't give one to the awesome Ghost House? I think you were just salty because of the previous levels, pretty much all your death in that level were entirely your fault. Poor Katie.
Hey RYU! I just really wanted to say how awesome of a youtuber you are. You keep your cool and just enjoy the ride, its refreshing to see you laughing after a troll block or just see you not give up during a real tough level. Keep up the good work man!

You mean the correct way? Don't get me wrong, I prefer the way la-kuh-too sounds as much as anyone. I just think it sounds better. But it's a Japanese name for a thing. A, I and U sound like that. It 'is' law-key-too.
Yeah, I'm actually fairly certain he rain into the lava on life #30 (The actual life 30 people are asking about, not the softlock, you early commenters) because on life #29 he was being extra careful on those steps as if avoiding repeating a mistake.

Fun Fact: The last level creators Mii looks like Brock from Pokemon. The guy is from Austria (german speaking country) and the german name of Brock is "Rocko". That's why he's called Rocko
Now that's what I want out of a super expert no skip video! Some trolly levels, and even some trolly moments like with the hidden block on the second-to-last level. Just enough punishment for Ryukahr without being ridiculous. Great video!
I feel like he would have starred the "ghostless house" if not for that last hidden block making him redo the whole stage. You can argue you should look for them before doing any jump or it's your fault, but that's not something you'll hear me agreeing with anytime soon. He even said something about "if anyone's on the fence" after that, which makes me think he probably was himself and that's where it lost his star. You don't see the parts he cuts out having to do it all over again, so it seems less tedious just watching. The stage was fine about it up till that point, so it comes out of nowhere for a cheap death and total restart. That's definitely where I changed my mind on it. If that block came up earlier rather than at the very end, it would be different. Even if it was technically marked, it wasn't in the "typical" way and it was definitely placed where it would kill you. It could have been put back a couple spaces and worked without causing a restart, could have been marked better, and/or could have let that jump not be a total death but have a door or pipe or way back or something, and it would have been more like "ok, fair enough" imo, and I would have starred. As is, if I played it, I'd definitely be debating it at best.
