I always stayed in Pham Ngu Lao area when visiting HCM City.Paid about US13...no complain..room,toilet well kept.WiFi.

Took my 84 year old mother down there in that street I think. She was visiting from UK and I lived in a Bein Hoa. We went on a morning trip to the Delta the next morning but didn't bother staying there and got a different timed trip a week later.

Great the Vietnam Hanoi video last night :-) Never went to Hanoi. I lived in Saigon (Bien Hoa) for 2 years and visited Danang to work for 2 weeks and a job. I cycled to Mai Li ( spelling) cemetery were the village was wiped out and the museum there. Strange day and displays and how the children saw the statues of the massacre ( which was grusome) sp. The children were angry and mocked the display. It was a wonderful day with the people there as there was a ceremony and event. Old monk wanted photos with me and also moving to see the place and be there. I then cycled to the beach near there and had a beach restaurant that was empty and reflected had what had happened all those years ago. I always wanted to see it. I did. I am British.

Walls probably paper thin (maybe)and can hear slapping in the next room. No sleep. :-) Great that you get the free tea with the coffee. ( same here in Cambo in some places. Can't remember.)
