Hello Verde Beach! Your listening to The Daily Fire Starter, and I’m Andrew Hamilton! In top news, the city government has given the ok to revamp the island airport of verde beach! This would aid in more planes and better tourism. In minor news, a new movement for native Americans in the state of superior has taken storm in most cities, calling for new rights and better towns. You’ve been listening to the Daily Fire Starter, and I’m Andrew Hamilton. I’ll talk to you in the comments! Have a good day!

Your subway system to the terminals should have an air gap from the city system to an airport system. Two terminals in the main terminal, one feeding in from the city where people would arrive, get ticketing check bags, go through security etc, the second to connect all the terminals
@simongeard4824
@simongeard4824 Год назад
Presumably each terminal has redundant facilities. I know what you're thinking of, airports that have their own internal rail/underground systems connecting terminals, separate from the city public transport - but I've also been to airports (e.g. Tokyo Narita) with each terminal linked directly to the city rail network.... you take a different stop depending on which terminal your airline operates from.
Год назад
Here in Frankfurt, Germany, there is a monorail connecting the terminals. It has separated carriages for the public and for passengers that already went through security.

@@simongeard4824 See also Heathrow, London
@rfmee
@rfmee Год назад
DC's two airports also have this situation (though DCA does not currently have an internal train/tram system - it's too small). Definitely needs to be an airgap to separate air-side from land-side.
@Demonslayer20111
@Demonslayer20111 Год назад
Eh. Sfo has bart going straight into the terminal, and security is inside. Phoenix sky harbor has it's skytrain system and each terminal has its own security. It's really not uncommon for airports to have transit to the terminals and then you go through security as opposed to the other way around.

One thing that could be cool in the "field" area between the terminals would be to take some inspiration from HNL airport. They have a large outdoor botanical area with foliage from different regions with paths and rest areas. You'd have to connect the two terminals to make it make sense, and the paths/park wouldn't be functional but it could be a really interesting project. Great build as always!

The plane jamming is from a lack of queuing space. When you reversed the loop direction, planes now have a lot of taxiway to queue on while they wait for their aircraft stand to open, meaning they block fewer gates when they need to queue. In the original config they would back out onto the runway, which stopped takeoffs, which led to deadlock.
@paperaddict3756
@paperaddict3756 Год назад
I think the problem you're having with usage of the planes comes down to simple maths. You have around 24 stands that will each hold 100 people. You're trains, metros and cars can only supply so many people to the area. Attractiveness brings people in yes, but it can only do so much when you have capacity for 24,000 people on each turn. Especially since, DLC behaving, only 2 planes can land at any one time, including cargo. I love this build, it's beautiful and I've seen how much work has gone into it. But I think you've done the thing you always warn against - over building. You don't yet have the draw for 24,000 people so each plane is going to be 75% empty. Realistically a plane will fly at that capacity once or twice, but the airport would cut the flight entirely since it wouldn't pay for fueling and wages. This happens a lot where I am. Every mode of transport should be treated the same, you add buses or reroute lines when they are underproducing, the same should apply for airports. Realistically this airport has gone bankrupt because no one will continue to invest in a three terminal cargo and passenger airport with only 1,400 passengers. You only need 14 planes. Again I love this build, but this has stood out to me since I watched the original build when I was binge watching Verde Beach.

Somehow filling in that large area in the center of the airport would be nice. Of the top of my head Honolulu and Seoul airports may provide some inspiration of how it can be done. That or relocating a corporate complex with a control tower might be a nice addition and add additional realism - something like what Orlando Intl. does.
@AthrunX23s
@AthrunX23s Год назад
Only correction would be to relocate the hangars and parked planes closer to the cargo area since they're never near the passenger terminals IRL. Also, just a suggestion, but ditching the center large concourse and just having a concourse connect to the main terminal building would probably open up a lot of space for more small or medium plane stands since I think no airport planner would spend money on reclaiming all that landmass and not cram as many planes as possible.

I think part of the issue for the right hand side runway was that the junction is directly where the plane spots start, so the planes have to stop on the corner - there's no where to allow for a queue. On the left hand side you force them to taxi down to the first plane spot, leaving space for the cargo planes to still travel to their hub, and space for 2-3 planes to queue for a spot.

I knew when you built this, although beautiful it wouldn't work in game, did find it's key to have taxi in longer and seperate for each stand, then taxi out isn't as important. Give room for each stand to park 2 planes without blocking another stands way. The whole 1 way only is rough. And that you'll have 1 stand with 20 flights then 3 with 0. Nice improvements.

One thing you can do to mitigate airplane traffic is to subscribe to "Optimized Outside Connections" which reduces the number of large vehicles (trains, planes and ships) in your city by filling each vehicle more. It mainly applies to large vehicles going to and from outside connections, but it also affects cargo trains within your city.

Im an aviation geek and airport/airplane nerd. Usually in a big airport they have a smaller control tower called a ramp tower which helps taxi planes in and out of the gates there the FAA tower controllers can’t see. Usually the ramp tower is run by the airline or the airport sometimes by the FAA but rarely. you have wasted space connect the satellite terminal to the main terminal. I think: the airport has many aircraft stands for the size of the runway. Flights have been accumulating because due to the number of arrivals and departures, they need to travel a long way both to enter and leave the airport, the takeoff and landing time is great to cross the entire runway, this creates a looping. The low utilization seats is another prove of this excess. Decreasing the number of stands or the size of the track is the only solution

Nicely done! One thing I would still change up though - on the long runway's taxiway you went by highway logic "straight, offramp, straight, onramp, straight", but on the short one you went "onramp, straight, offramp" instead, possibly clogging the taxiway up more. If you reversed the directions on the ramp loops there, you can make it look more in sync.

Pilot here, I'm not sure how the game would work, but realistically there would be more exits/entrances to the runway, for instance the little jets don't need as much space to take off and land as the jumbo jets. Realistically everything would be connected much more, but I understand it's just a game. Beautiful city, wonderful series, very interesting, keep it up!
