because no one can really, properly judge what goes into it as so many things are hidden. The most flashy changes are "cosmetic changes" like color, decoration and furniture. if a wall is missing, or something has been restructured then they usually do appreciate it, but if its not as flashy as that, then the "design" part of the renovation takes the main stage with being the most visible one.

Get off the coast and you can have 4 homes for the price of one of those, lol

me too coz the pavers could be done later on to match the house. Maybe its coz i like having my morning coffee from my balcony watching the sunrise or at night just looking out to the stars

totally true , good point! a huge balcony/ porch upstairs totally useless. large glass doors would be gorgeous !

I think the porch was more for the aesthetics of the home not for practical use otherwise I think they would've chose that option during the renovation. Plus the door Joanna put in the picture wouldn't be appealing to look at everyday, it looked really out of place and boring. Just my thoughts though

shinyam75 it wouldn’t be that expensive. By the looks of it, the carport looks to be enough room for a single car. A single car garage on average is 12x12 which would make the price to pour concrete at $800 to $1,500. If the carport can fit 2 cars then it would be a typical 24x24 which would make the price to pour concrete at $3,000 to $4,000. Then a garage door would be about $800 to $1,500 (it depends on the quality and design). Then the price for the back wall and running electrical would be anywhere from $500 to $1,000. So the overall price for adding a garage to their home (on the higher side) would be around $7,500 to $ $8,000 P.S I know because a had my carport (very similar to this house) changed to a garage.

It is called a pot filler. Makes it easier to fill a large pot over where you are going to boil the water. Saves steps and spills, very handy feature!

That's pot filler, you only see that in America. Here in AUSTRALIA no one does that because it's ugly. If I want to fill the pots with water I just go to my water tap in the island.

I don't that's an actual Balcony, like it might looks like a Balcony but it wasn't designed to be a balcony, but to be a roof that's shaped like a balcony.

@@L.Spencer Possibly. But they might alter the design which is why the door listed as 1.4k but in reality they'll have to rebuild the whole porch support system, and that cost more than 1.4k in my opinion.

That's what I was thinking also, like 200K is a lot of money for renovation. I've seem them do similar quality work for under 50k so why did this cost over 200.

They also update outside of the house and do landscaping. That’s a lot.

Natalia Lee That true but still they do that with less of a budget just about every home has type of redesign outside of the house. It still shouldn’t cost that much.

Okay, they redo the siding and the roof that's maybe 50 - 60k. They didn't do a drastic landscaping anything, just some mulch and plants in the front... Maybe you could stretch that to 5k... still kinda pricey imo The new windows and doors (this woman and her French doors obsession...) maybe another 20k... New appliances and fixtures, maybe 15k... That's 100k. So it took 120k in labor and materials to do the rest? Realllllllly? :/ They could have gotten the same results without maxing out their "all-in" budget and feeling the heat when taxes lays in to them next year with this new home value.

I actually agree. The exterior of the house was nice and light, now it's an ugly grey. They paid $225,000 for some basic reno. What a scam.

@@shinyam75 Considering they got that house for 50K, 275K total after renovations for a house that big and that nice on the inside isn't a scam. 275K ain't getting you anything in most big cities.

@@chefcurry3044 Here's the thing. They got a great deal at 50k. Why not save the 225k and invest it? Why force yourself to pay for renovations? They got a great bargain and squandered it on stupid renos that made it only slightly better or worse. There are smart and cheap ways to do a reno properly. For example, instead of tearing down and replacing kitchen cabinets for $10,000, just sand and repaint them. Doing this type of smart reno throughout the house, they should have spent $70k at most.

shinyam75 they definitely could have saved money on the reno and invested some of that elsewhere, but maybe they wanted to spend this on their forever home and make it their style. Also, that 225K spent on Renos aren’t lost, they’d easily be able to sell that house 10 years from now and make a sizeable profit. It’s not a bad investment.

The house is beautiful, bright, open spaces with positive happy energy now. I would totally live in that house alone with my cats and dogs. I'm afraid of a crazy human but NOT a ghost. lol

If you're afraid of a ghost (haunted house)? Get a priest or monk to bless your home before move in. Or you can get a friends roommate, cats and dogs to live with you. Always have a happy music on. So you wouldn't feel afraid and alone. Your crazy imagination wouldn't playing trick with you. Lol

Nope, absolutely real. I used to see Jo at the Family Y where I used to work out. With these people, what you see is what you get. They’re as real as can be. It’s too bad you have such a cynical outlook.
