Today's episode consists of us diving into rebuilding the VANOS and replacing the timing chain and related components on his M54. It is such a beautiful car that needs some much needed help. Hi , I did rebuild the vano on my E39 same engine like in your video... while the vano unit was removed I used a spanner and turned the crank a few turns...to many maybe 🤔, and the right spindle gear came out🥺, I have managed to put it back .... should I be worried before refitting the vano unit? Thank you

As long as the engine and the cams are TDC there is no going wrong. The spline height will get dialed when you use the double VANOS tool to push them in. It’s important to make sure the exhaust sprocket’s arrow indicator is flush with the edge of the head.
