BRAVO, LILLY ! Simple bows like this one are the BEST ! Anything with pulleys, cables, and other "bells & whistles" is more likely to break, malfunction, or require maintenance. GOOD VIDEO !

The bow is beautiful but I realy like the way you shot the video. I realy like the fact that you were shooting your new bow like you were realy hunting. You were standing, kneeling and shooting from different angles. I know alot of people who only shoot their bows with perfect form while praticing. When they are facing a live animal they miss. One reason is because in my experience I have rarely been able to shoot standing up with perfect form while in the woods. I nearly shot a deer while nearly lying on my back. She was only 5 yrds from me and there was no proper shooting form to be had. She never flinched until the arrow shot right under her chest. After that clean miss I started shooting my bows from every awkward position I could think of. I also had to learn to calm my nerves before taking my shots at a live animsl. Lets face it targets dont get our heart rates up live animals do. These two changes made a huge difference in my hunting success. This is why I love watching your videos. Form is important so we dont create bad habbits while shooting. Lets face it though animals or a swaying branch can cause us to miss by inches or even feet. Thats why I love the challenge of traditional archery. Great video Liley. Sorry for rambling.

Pretty nice takedown long bow, interesting that they kept it traditional many are going with more modern materials, looks like a great bow for a bushcrafter, I am sure many have left this comment already but I wonder if the connection would get loose over time? Looks very comfortable to shoot PS thats a big a$$ squirrel hes been eating well, I think 'Scrat' like the guy from ice age

A tip from someone who's shot archery their whole life: You're accuracy will increase drastically by keeping both eyes open. Also, don't use your arrow as a sight to aim with, look at your target.

Accuracy....not if you're coss eye dominant.... yep, it sucks.
@crazydougthewolf
@crazydougthewolf 3 года назад
@@thewatcher611 Eye dominance is irrelevant if you're shooting instinctively, truly instinctively. What do I mean? Does eye dominance affect how you throw a ball to someone? No, that's instinctive aiming. You look at the person you're throwing the ball too and you throw it, your brain does the aiming automatically. Instinctive archery is the same way. It's what allows an instinctive archer to hit a moving target, even a small one, quickly and accurately. Gap shooting, on the other hand, is using the arrowhead as a sight, either intentionally or not. A lot of people who thing they are instinctive shooters are actually gap shooting and don't know it. The test is if you're cross eye dominant and can't hit your target well, then you are gap shooting, or try hitting a moving target like a tossed tennis ball.

For US MILITIA: Children's Compound bows are normally only 25lbs, and do not shoot very fast. For Lilly: I have a takedown bow, I believe a Fred Bear that I have had for many years. It is solid fiberglass and by now, not nearly as pretty as your bow. But it is still tight with no looseness. It is a 50lbs/ 28" bow. Great fun to use, and excellent to tie on the side of a pack. Where do you get those arrows, they would be a great addendum to my bow.

Mandarin Duck first produced this bow, back in 2020, they've made a few changes, I think for the better, looks wise, etc., and now selling it under the name,"The Devourer". I saw your video, and a couple others, on this bow, and ordered it yesterday, to add to my small collection of bows. Enjoyed your video, keep up the great work. Thank you Mandarin Duck also, for producing some fine bows, at affordable prices. Yes the squirrel is very dead, but as far as putting it on the table, it's just a little too rubbery, for my liking. A week later I'm shooting this bow at the range yesterday, I to have to say it was easy to shoot, I'm used to center cut rests, but guess I was shooting the right arrow for this bow, because after two shots at 20 yards, I was shooting within the ten point ring on a paper target. I set my brace at 8", which seemed fine, shot a quite arrow or close to it, but today I'm adding dampers to the string also. Yes I've got to say I'm a happy camper with this bow. Thanks Lilly and Mandarin Duck.
@corey_deroche

Very impressive. It shoots really quick considering it's a light weight and your shafts are pretty thick. The limbs must be very well designed because it seems fast. It's such a perfect bow for where you live and what you do. I like to carry three field tipped arrows and three blade tipped arrows. In case I run into a bigger animal or I want to protect someone I can choose. You should come over to Maine sometime and do some stump shooting in the woods. My forest looks like your forest and we do what you do. Looking forward to your next adventure. Don't forget your headlight :)

A longbow! As someone who's been shooting those for 20+ years, I'm so happy to see you shooting one! The takedown bow I keep in my car is a 55# recurve, and it's the pickiest, most unforgiving bow I own. I did have my brother-in-law fabricate some bolts with stud extensions so that I no longer need to keep an Allen wrench with me to take it apart or secure it together. Much prefer to have something like what you've got there. Thanks for the review!

Out of all the practice, I've never missed a shot. It's the craziest thing. No aiming device, just the small plastic piece for feather arrows. I can actually see where the arrow will end up.
