The Righteous Brothers came about their name when they were singing at a club and a group of black marines were in the club. They were so impressed with the singing that they said, " That was righteous, brother", so Bobby and Bill decided to take the name Righteous Brothers as their new name. They had a nickname of "blue eyed soul".

OMG the late Bobby Hatfield! I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. He owns this song! No auto tune pure raw talent! RIP Bobby! We miss you! 💖💖💖

If someone else already said this, I apologize for repeating. Bobby was very nervous performing this. He already had terrible stage fright, but also his parents were in the audience. They had never seen him perform on stage. He has that little smile at the end, as if to say, "I nailed it"!

Welcome to the Righteous Brothers rabbit hole. They had a lot of hits and the phrase "Blue Eyed Soul" was coined for them.

I've probably seen about 2 dozen people react to this song, and your reaction is absolutely my favorite. I loved seeing how much this song affected you with its beauty. It's mesmerizing, and Bobby's voice is otherworldly.

Strings baby, violins, violas, basses and a soft touch on the drums. This is a voice masterclass, he's got it all

No auto tunes. This was a live performance. Many artists have recorded this song but NOBODY did it as good as Bobby Hatfield. Violins in the background. Well dressed performer. Well mannered audience. Bobby had a 5 octave range. This song was used in the movie "Ghost". This song was written in 1955 for the movie "Unchained". They each did solos in their performances. This was Bobby's. Bobby Haftield died in 2007 a few weeks after The Righteous Brothers were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

No auto tune. No dancers. Just Bobby standing flat footed and singing his ass off!

As to the "finish", Bobby hit notes that a lot of women can't hit. He had a 5-octave range, was always on-key.

I came of age in the 60s and 70s. Our generation had the luxury of taking this sort of music for granted. Good to see the younger folks rediscovering it.

Bill and Bobby started singing together in 1962. They were both lead singers and often did solos … this was Bobby’s most famous one. Bobby was a first tenor with counter tenor ability (which he showed here) and Bill was a Bass baritone, which is at the lowest end of the scale - despite their vastly different ranges they could blend their voices perfectly and in the mid sixties dominated the charts with 22 songs on the Billboard ‘hot 100’. At one point they had three albums in the top 20 simultaneously. They broke up for about 5 years in 1968 but got back together and continued their successful singing career until Bobby’s death in 2003. Bill continued to sing solo until 2016 when he revived the Righteous Brothers with Bucky Heard … and is still performing at the age of 81.

An entire orchestra is backing Bobby , LIVE, here, no damn computers, no autotune. Bobby died at age 63 in 2003 on tour with Bill....in Kalamazoo MI, only a hour or less away from my house. almost bought tickets to that show, but did not. Bill is still alive. The song was from a lesser known movie called Unchained from 1955. It was simply song by a prison inmate on guitar in the movie. Many recorded this song before Bobby, later ELvis did a version. But no one can top this version...no one. Both guys would do a solo song as well a sing together.

Right, no falsetto, just an incredible vocal range. Watch Bobby singing Summertime. Vocal acrobatics!
