Preflex is a great name for a prefab home company. 💪🏽 I agree with your prediction. All of these new companies are just the beginning of the first wave. These are exciting times for prefab lovers. 😁 The free Tacos & Beer make me wish they had a location near me. Keep these videos coming. I know it's difficult, but maybe you can post towns/municipalities who have fought ordinances agains pre-fab homes and won ... That's what we really need. Also, what products do you use in your hair? Is that your natural color? It looks great!

@@marianl3447 that's the issue, not much known. Somebody has a small lot of tiny homes in AZ in Lakeside, I think he said it took him 5 years to fight the battle to get the permission. It is very difficult

All the information you require for your potential building site is accessible to the public by personally reviewing the City Council records of their public hearings. You must discover either their denial or issuance of their conditioned approval for your particular inhabited single-family residential structure. This is referred to as a PRECEDENT. If you can not locate any approval PRECEDENTS you may never obtain approval for your construction development. I stumbled upon a prefab the other day and while I was researching the website, I saw the warranty. Warranty was a year. I believe the warranty is as important as the house itself considering this is all new to everyone

I’m in Real Estate mostly residential, but breaking into commercial. I would like to see prefabs that have better warranty on a new product a better price sustainable and economically friendly $100,000. That is not friendly 😊with the crisis going on here in America there is a need for something starting at 10,000 and up the up must include septic work, permits, even allocated land that is deserving for a prefab approval. I am a California girl. I can confirm the sticker shock on our real estate. It sucks. But by the same token. I bought my house 12 years ago for 163k it's now worth over 500k. You really do earn equity really fast here. Especially if you're within an hour of a large city like LA, SD or SF. So for me... that's why I obsess over your channel. I want to sell my house and build at least 2 if not 3 pre-fabs. Live in one, rent the others for passive income.

I really like the idea of a kit home being delivered to the property then assembled. My off grid road might be a bit much for a fully assembled modular. Not sure if I like the idea of sips. If it ever caught on fire it would be all over.

I read through the comments below and their opinions on the floor plans are the same as mine - no. I thought maybe I was just being overly critical … as usual. If the smallest unit is $100,000, that would put them at the usual $500+ per square foot and that would put the largest model, 1152 square feet, at $576,000. Absolutely incredible.

I’ve met the Preflex guys… very nice fellows… But, they need to hire an architect/designer…. These plans … yeah. And the SIP skins are OSB - box standard. They don’t have any more-progressive options, like composites. There’s nothing special about these SIPS, but Preflex does have a good network in their region.

What the prefab manufacturers should get into is co-labing with these furniture manufacturers that make space saving furniture like Murphy beds and expandable tables or office nooks etc... And yes with Interior designers to have like a floating wall "on rails" that complete changes the function by day. Buckminster Fuller was doing this in the 60's its a shame the powers that be have been able to hold it back for so long.

The reason housing is so expensive in California is not, for the most part, the cost of building a house. Yes, it is a little higher, but not wildly out of line. What makes the house cost $600,000 when it would be $120,000 in Nowhere, KS, is the price of the lot. The least expensive lot in San Francisco is $99k and it doesn't have any access. Yep, the owner needs to build a road to it. The next least expensive is $200k and it doesn't have utilities. Yep, no water, power, sewer, etc., in San Francisco, the single most urban place in all of California. $200k is a whole house with lot in many places in the US and Canada. Next up is a lot for $400k with the PLANS for a house. Yep, no house, but just some plans. There are few places in the US and Canada where $400k doesn't buy one a lot AND a house. So, getting the house faster is nice and getting it somewhat cheaper is nice, but we need a place to put it. Then, look at all those renderings, particularly the first one with the two people by the porch. It is on a lot so big it would a suburb of its own here in California. All the lots show all this space. They are big, giant hugely expensive homes. One buys a lot like that, one buys a big house to put it on. Kerry, you want to become rich? Start developments here in California that have small, cheap lots, with these fast, well-made factory houses on them that aren't mobile home parks where the landed is rented (that should be illegal) or there is an HOA that drives everyone crazy except the five board members. Come out with a two or three bedroom home with en suite bathrooms and a half bath, a garage (even inline), and a 20' x 20' (7m x 7m, for you Canadians) back yard, for $250k, you will sell out in the first hour.

My county is currently pushing "infilling"; a recent development close me has no backyards but each house has an ADU (so, instead of one household, you now have two on one lot). Many counties in CA are also starting very attractive ADU programs and attempting to make them as affordable as possible (an example would be instead of the old regulation whereby the ADU had to have its own sewer hookup [$$$$$] now the ADU can be hooked up to the main house's sewer line; same with water and electrical).

I love these videos, great ideas, but yes there is a but. Where do you find places to put your fantastic new home? If you live out there in no man's land, with a 40 acre lot, you maybe lucky to do that, but even out there, you often times have restrictions to deal with. So, it would be nice to get also info on how where and when can you place the homes. Thanks

I've looked at prefab in Europe and they are miles ahead of us. Prefab homes are a great concept for many people. I'd rather see apartments knocked down and a modular/prefab community built vs. people paying rent. Good idea to use prefab for habitat for humanity. I'm not sure what society will do with all of the mansions the boomers built after they are gone.

A similar conventional house can also be framed up in two hours - but realistically both take many months for permitting, numerous other installations that need to occur like delivery, utils hook up, manufacturing (4-8 mos), foundation / slab pouring, engineering, etc. So, two hours really has little meaning.

The problem is that the savings construction companies are attaining by building offsite are not being fully passed on to the consumer. The cost to build these things need to be 40%-50% cheaper to make sense because there is still so many other things that need to be done to make these houses comparable to onsite built homes, to bring them up to code, and be able to resell or refinance if needed without being seen as a fancy portable home.

Ideally they should have "fries with that" options by partnering with a Solar/Off Grid specialty company. Solar panels on the roof with a big ass battery bank and well pump and most of those prefab could be off grid as well.

Do you get any sleep, Kerry? As fast as you pump these out and as good as they are , ........can't help but wonder . 😊.Also you sure have great sense of humor...love that too. I LIKE these and happy to see the slanted roof. Would want the 900 ish sq feet...Need that amount of space but not need a third bedroom...if couldn't get it in 2 bedrooms, I would take it though as is and use the 3rd for storage or art space. 😊 I didn't understand the price (base price?...for all sizes or which size?). I will watch again and maybe get to hear it better. Thanks again for another great find.

Some things just showed up in my you tube feed you might want to look at...I don't have time to look at them or to check if you already did any of these ..so will leave info or links: GreenPod Waterhaus, Green Magic Homes, Woman-owned GreenPod Development (looks good and is near my area...WA state. but the Green Magic Homes (a different company and kind of home) looks shaky...some not so good reviews. I think you tube does not allow links in comments so i won't put those here but will try to in separate comment here. That way you will at least have this info to do a search if you think they are worth your time. Always love and enjoy your vids and fun comments ..i watch yours even when have no time for any others...YOU are really good ...and can't resist watching. Also want a home one day of my own and would go to your reviews to help me; so saving them while working on how i can pay for it. ok ..watch for links in a second comment here .

Really? ....not mean to be arrogant but want to add another perspective . I grew up and lived many times , many years of my life in shared homes with MORE than 3 bedrooms and ONLY one bath...and was never helllish. One of them was in fact one of the most peaceful , relaxing and also joyful experiences of my life . People used to do it all the time (families in homes with more than 3 kids even) .and now we are " spoiled". Its much easier of course to have more than one...but to have only one...is HELL? REALLY? Some folks would be thrilled to have a home period, and even more thrilled to have one WITH A bath, . I guess what we think hell is... is so subjective. Not mean to offend you so hope it didn't' sound that way.

Looking for a company in Rhode Island or in New England, we have two vacation cottages and have room for a ADU, most of all these prefab ADU are out of California, we need something that is beach cottage style and it will need to be elevated but only about 5 feet, not crazy high. We have city water and sewer and the town allows ADUs. Please let me know if you have any suggestion. Thanks Kathy

California state law requires that any newly-built accessory dwelling unit must have solar panels. The California Energy Commission (CEC) states that panels can be installed on the accessory dwelling unit or the primary unit. In Los Angeles, Cover installs solar panels in their ADUs

Manufacturing in California 😵‍💫 ya, sure its a great market. But there's another whole country out here. Sure California needs its own factory, but there's another group that's interested. Build a factory out here some place centrally located for the rest of us. Kansas maybe ? Tornado country needs something that can be put up quick for people who have lost there home. And there are those of us that are tired of conventional style homes that take for ever to build. With better prices, House the Homeless etc ?

I like the SIP construction but the designs and layouts don't look like they have much imagination. The model shown at 5:21 looks like it has plenty of room for a toilet in that bathroom. Besides, who would build a shower space but not a toilet (unless they plan on double duty for the shower 😳). Since there is no measurements on the rendering, it's hard to say for certain that there is enough room for the toilet and a vanity but if there isn't, a little room could be stolen from the bedroom/living room and/or closet to accommodate the amenities required for a proper bathroom.

Boxabl is nice, but they aren't the only ones out there, and they have an insane wait list. If you're looking for a home now, Boxabl is nothing more than a life goal right now. In a year or three when they have caught up, who knows. But there's places here in Maine that sell prefab homes, and have since the 1980s, including log cabin kits that are literal life-sized Lincoln Logs. There's a ton of options, and that's good. Once you're down to 1 or 2 companies making something, things get bad (look at CPUs, GPUs, etc)

The wisest thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that doesn't depend on the govt. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in Gold, Silver and digital currencies (BTC,ETH...)

If one can build a HOME in two hours.... its no better than a pup tent.... you keep showing companies youve never heard of, or is a new start-up... pushing sustainability and innovation as a key quality. And endless computer images... sorry , whats key is the QUALITY OF MATERIALS and BUILD QUALITY..and real buildings with real OWNERS...thank you.

He does on a lot of his videos. Unfortunately, some of the products haven't reached the stage in development where the manufacturers are releasing prices yet. He's doing the best he can, with what's out there to find out. And for that, I am thankful.
