Hey Phil! Small thing in round 3 that probably improves your opinion of Bombardiers even more… if you attack with it first and then play fury in your second Main phase, you can sacrifice it for 7 damage in response to the evoke trigger 🤩🤩🤩
It's incredible how Wizards trying to answer commander player's complaints about red and white needing more tools has radically improved aggro plans in legacy Great video, great card. I'm really impressed with how like, subtly good it is.
the recent string of insane cards from commander sets makes me think wizards should put at least a few legacy play testers on their commander design teams (ik they don’t care and won’t but still). initiative, staff of the story teller (bow mastered out of the meta but still), creative technique and now this guy all feel like cards that were never even considered with 1v1 play as an option
I'm so glad this guy showed up from one of your opponents from your mono-red Sneak Attack video. There's so many releases coming out I didn't even know this guy was a thing until that video, and I snap ordered a playset.
Why not Great Furnace? Turn a land into a Shock. We're already susceptible to Wasteland (and Sol Lands are probably better targets anyway). There is no issue with running one under Bloodmoon. And we will still have some mountains to fetch.
Only main downside is that alot of decks like to run meltdown as a sidebaord card to answer 8 cast and may board them in to answer trinisphere. Those lands get caught up in that. But aside from that its certainly intresting brew space and pribably better than some of the alternatibe lands
@llamarama6976 Hmm. That's a good point. I'm used to Stompy decks nowadays not running too many maindeck lock pieces. I suppose that will change now that Bombardiers can chuck them at face.
@@derekcline950 specifically opponents like delver like running meltdown so it can be a bit sketchy if they caught uo in that or a reanimators serenity. But i think they have no less of a price than the channel land does. Then again the channel land spirits can be use as ammunition for bonbadiers. Bombadiers is one hell of a creature
Wonder if Bombardiers can see any play in Affinity. Flinging Myr Enforcers, Sojourner's Companions, or Thought Monitor for 9 damage seems pretty spicy!
Hmm 1 mana draw 2 deal 8 damage does seem quite good. Almost worth making 8 cast worse to include it :p (Can also sac arti lands to do a shock in a pinch too)
Ok, real talk. This card is insane. The amount of shenanigans you can do is not even funny. You could even splash it if your deck can afford a single R. Thank Keranos is just once each turn. It's not so broken it should be banned(at least not in Legacy), let's be real, but it can singlehandedly win you games you have no place winning. That's scary
Copying broadside and then attacking with both and sacing them to each other is so funny flavorwise. 2 goblins hopping into each others cannons, fuses lit
I'm not trying to downplay Broadside Bombardiers at all, but... What I saw in this video was Chalices and Trinispheres and Blood Moons completely stopping opponents from playing! Every time I watch these red prison decks, I waver in my conviction that I would be a greedy Beanstalk control player... How can I NOT just play Blood Moon?
The RW lists are more polished and tested right now. It's the better deck to pick up and play. It's possible that a Bombardiers list *could* be better than RW, but it's so early that the lists aren't tuned. I'd still put my money on RW unless you have a ton of time to test Broadside versions.
I've done the maths, albeit maybe not well. It looks like you were about 96.6% to draw a leyline on 5 mulligans. But I have a suspicion that my maths is off. I got it as a coinflip on any draw 7
@@captaintaco2845 I don't think I did. I did (1-(4/60+4/59..4/54))⁵. Work out probability for one of them to be in your opening hand. 1-P would be the probability it's not in your hand, and then multiply by itself 5 times for the 5 hands he drew. Just to explain my working
Can we get a version of this where you're going to 2nd main and flinging a Dreadnaught at an opponent in response to its etb? I personally think it would be funny.
The issue with that is that a Leyline with no lands or follow up threat has no real chance of winning. A lock piece without pressure isn't a recipe for success.
