Thanks for the review, it is amazing what Hasselblad has done here with a 1/4000 leaf shutter, and such a sharp and fast focusing lens. I bought the 90v lens on launch day, now seeing Hasselblad begins to deliver I'm so excited to get my copy.

Nice video man! I love this camera even more! Also with face detection, the system will pick up multiple faces if the camera sees more than one person, and you can simply just swipe your finger on the screen to switch to the face you want the camera to focus on. 👍🏽

So glad to see the software update as I'm currently on the fence on adding the X2D to my tool box. Currently SonyA1 daily, thanks for showing me more options.

Ahhh Gorgeous photos. I’ve been a long time follower and after 20 years of natural light photography I FINALLY got myself a FJ400 and Many 36” beauty dish and I LOVE IT!!! It pairs so well with my R5c. I also am fortunate enough to own the X1Dii and even though I wish I was able to stretch my budget 3x for the X2d I’m satisfied with the IQ. The images are just soooo different and colors are insane compared to full frame camera. Can’t wait to shoot more!

This lens has been on my radar for a while and local camera stores just don’t carry this stuff. I was lucky to trade my Sony equipment for an X2D and then a 55 V. I was waiting on this firmware for a while and contemplated selling it to get more Fuji lenses. Then this firmware drops. The main reason I considered selling it was I needed this 90 v but wasn’t sure I could afford it. Now I’m contemplating what to sell to get it. Thanks Manny!

I think this camera is great, and as much as I wanted, but me buying into the red system for my filmmaking career and already owning Fuji for my photography. I believe this camera shines better in your hand, because you have mastered composition and lighting to the person that shoots just for the regulars. I don’t think they’ll be able to appreciate this camera as much as somebody who mastered the techniques you have.

Outstanding work as usual! I must express my profound adoration for this camera and the sheer pleasure I derive from using it, especially now that I have the 90mm f/2.5 However, I am faced with a minor issue when using my profoto flash. It appears that when my shutter speed surpass the 1200 mark, my images are way underexposed. I am well aware that this issue stems not from the camera or lens, but rather from the flash duration. Have you ever encountered a similar challenge using your X2D? If you possess any insights or remedies, I would be immensely grateful for your assistance.

Glad you made a follow up video to this. Leaf shutter lenses are extremely handy. Point apart, wonder if there's someone who did the math regarding money and time saved thanks to leaf shutter tech over time.

I am someone who never considered Medium format over full frame because I wasn't really convinced that you got better image quality. or more depth of field. and the focusing issues. but the images in this video just seem to be on another level.. so the only thing I wish this video had was a direct comparison to a full frame camera like the A1 with an equivalent lens. on this exact photoshoot. with the same lighting and the same girl and same set up. because I love the colors of everything in this shoot. and I could really see the difference in this exact shoot. because there is still part of me that wonders if it's my imagination with how good these images look. I loved how the green on the model was tying in with the green table and backdrop. it really went together beautifully. but also because it was lit so perfectly. so much so that you have me thinking about this camera and lens set up. ( in this shoot was the lens wide open at f2.5 ? ) and what is the full frame equivalent of f2.5 on the X2D ?

Hey Manny, I recently purchased the 55v. I shot it on both my X1Dii and the X2D and it didn't seem to be tack sharp. I tried several dozen images and, for almost $4,000, it didn't live up to my expectations. I also thought (incorrectly) that this lens supported the 1/4000 sec shutter speed but it doesn't. I was so disappointed that I returned it. I don't know, maybe it was just that particular lens so don't necessarily go by my experience, you have obviously had a different experience.

Manny, I am with you. This camera is in its own class. I may be tempted into the 90V. All the reviews rave about it. The color and definition look great. And there is the HB color science that is there regardless. And the new firmware, 3.1.0, is very nice. All in all it is a sweet package, if you can spend the bucks. Off to the roach coach for tacos? Dos al pastors, dos asadas. Rico, me gusta. Animo. ;o)

I wish for a X2DII or XD3 with an EVF with higher resolution and a joystick. I also wish for a 90mm 4.0 P Lens and a upgrade of the 45mm 4.0 P.

How about portraite lesnes as fast as Canon RF 85mm F1.2 or wide angle lenses close to 16mm focus length for landscape and architecture photography, for full frame equivalency?

What RAW editor do you use? Did you use 14 bit or 16 bit RAW?

Hi Manny, Could you help me please. Hasselblad have recommended that I use a Nikon trigger and a SB900 or similar speedlight to solve my problem and it does not work. What do you use for off camera flash. I am testing the X2D with the latest 90mm lens that is said to be able to sync up to 1/4000 sec. Whenever I set the sync speed to 1/2000 or 1/4000 I lose 1 to 2 stops of power on my flash. Below 1/1600 sync speed it's fine, no problems with loss of power. Do you have any suggestions that would help me please.

Hasselblad Medium Format Cameras are simply amazing!!!! If I could do it over again, I will purchase the Hasselblad. I don't want a Medium Format Camera for its video capabilities (Fujifilm). I have invested a lot money in the Fujifilm GFX System. I have the GFX50SII, GFX50R, and five GF Lenses (GF110 f2, GF45-100 f4, GF50 f3.5, GF63 f2.8 and GF100-200 f5.6). I wish that the GFX Camera system would include an internal ssd storage system. Other than that I am content with my GFX cameras. Great video!

It is nice that you like Swedish things. I don't think Ikea makes their "Knäppa" (snap) kamera anymore (it came in 2012) but maybe you can get a used one? Here is a test of it (the video is in swedish but you probably understand most anyway). I'd like to see you shot with it in a video! 🙂

Manny, what is the advantage or reasoning for shooting at ISO 400 in the studio where you have ample lighting? Gorgeous images!

Is any reason why you need iso6400 for 1/4000s flash?

The only image quality metrics I understand are 1) ability to resolve smallest detail at a specified distance 2) The intrinsic color rendition (color depth, science, highlight roll off and so on) First one is more important for me coz with the RAW image capture any style or color science can be applied on to any image with not much effort. Matching the "look" of camera setup can be complicated (color science and look are different thing, for example, the milky but sharp look of ARRI).

How is it better than Sony? I mean the autofocus is way slower. Is it the resolution? I mean yes the colorcience but anything else? Sharpnes?

If you had to choose one system for life what would you choose? Sony, Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad?

Good to hear that Hasselblad are getting their autofocus together. Ergonomically I love the X2D and I did consider the camera when I went to the GFX last year, just because I do a lot of studio work, but back then the camera was in such a unfinished state it was very hard to justify but now it looks like with certain lenses they have really stepped up. I also have to say, whilst I am a GFX user, Hasselblad colours are the best in the business.

Wait manny , the picture with the white line in the middle, using the Aputure spotlight, did you also use flash with that picture ? I been trying to do this and my flash washes out the spotlight

Nice! Next time someone asks what the benefits of MF is, show them these photos. They just pop off the screen. You arent going to get this level of detail and clarity from any FF camera and lens. Beautifully designed camera too, they are awesome.

What I appreciate the most about this device, and everything else falls in second place, is the fact that it has a very large screen and no buttons. It is very clean, without 20 buttons and a large screen. The many buttons and that small screen crap on the device really hates it

Hasselblads are 100% legit. only issue..cost lol i would 100% use Hasselblad, but i also like driving Porsche sports cars, so i shoot with Nikon instead LOL. But Hasselblad is the portrait king.
