I am in Utah, I was born in Utah, I have been here my entire life, and…yes this state has a quirky/bizarre/embarrassing mash up of religious beliefs, culture and history but, in spite of all of the above, there is a vibrant and increasingly diverse population developing here over the last 30+ years that is stoked for this opportunity to expand our support of professional sports teams in the state and I myself could not be more stoked about our new NHL team. Ryan Smith has been a huge boom for the sports fans in Utah. Cheers Ryan, keep up the radness my good man.

Pat, Utah has hockey since 1969, brought here by the Accord family. That was the Utah Golden Eagles. Utah has thousands of Golden Eagles, and hundreds of the Bald Eagle. Utah even named a Rec Ice Rink for the Olympics after the Accord family, in West Valley City. It would be great if this great team/state brought back the name of a huge predatorial bird as the Golden Eagles. And keep in mind, Utah has won cups with the Golden Eagles, and the now Grizzlies.

The initial list of 20 potential names for the team is not electric. I would have thought bringing back the Golden Eagles moniker would have been included and appropriate. Call the organization the Utah Golden Eagles and be done. The marketing can then proceed and be effective the 1st season, no waiting. Hope Trevor Lewis will be brought in to be the 1st Utah native to play in the 1st NHL team to call Utah home.
