This Dozer Has Been Stuck In The Swamp For 2 Years…Can We Recover It? 

Former army HEMTT wrecker operator here (63S/H8)...... You guys are living the dream! You should look into getting some of the rear spades off of the HEMTT wrecker for your HETS... They're very heavy and a lot of manual labor but man if you need to plant that truck into the ground to pull with the winch there's nothing better.

I think one of the most overwhelming things I have noticed over the years of watching the videos is just how amazingly beautiful the landscape is out west. I have traveled very briefly through Colorado, Utah (Near Zion), and New Mexico and for an east coast guy living between Washington DC and Maryland it has me really thinking about relocating.

@22:40 You'd be amazed at what an outrigger pad will do for this. We use them on our bucket trucks. The wood ones are liteweight and will prevent the outrigger from digging in like yours are doing. We can get the whole truck up off the ground in the sand/dirt by using the pads. Will also prevent an outrigger from messing up asphalt or concrete.

Every recovery is just so awsome and unique I would say they just get better but honestly every single one I have enjoyed so much. Mostly because I used to do this kind of stuff all the time up where I live here in AK, I miss it. Nicely done once again. I know those rims on that ford look nice and may be functional for road hauling but they are definitely the reason you got stuck on that dirt road. With 16-17in rims on 32-35in bfg at tires you could of lowered air pressure and gained 10-20% more traction.

Phenomenal video editing. The thing that had me legitimately laughing out loud was the sound effects when he was pulling all the levers, trying to figure out what worked and what did what.

I know it doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. But seeing you get the D8 moving earned my respect. Keep up the great content.

Wow! That went better than I expected. Reminds me of the time when I worked for a dairy farmer in NW Ohio. He built a new free stall barn that had a flush system that cleaned the cow's walk area. He hired an excavator with a dozer to dig a slurry pond that would capture all the water from the barn. The ground was heavy clay and he used much of it to build the dam, but the rest of it he pushed down the hill from the pond into a large pocket of peat moss. The amount of dirt he pushed into that area was about the size of a 4 room single story house. He was finished with the job, but he wouldn't have the truck available to load up his dozer for a few days, so he parked the dozer on the edge of the pond away from the road. The next day my boss and I drove two tractors down to the pile of clay, one had a bucket and the other had a box blade. His plan was to even out the dirt so it wasn't in a pile. But when we got to the pile, we noticed something strange, there was a large crack running along one side of the clay pile and the ground on the dirt pile side of the crack had lifted about a foot. We walked around the pile to the other side and noticed another crack with the ground on the dirt pile side of the crack had sank about a foot. He decided it wasn't safe try and move the dirt, so we drove the tractors back to the sheds. The next day the pile of clay had disappeared. When my boss and I walked down to investigate, we found that the heavy dirt had flipped over and sank with the peat moss coming up to the top. The excavator came to pick up his dozer that evening and we told him about the pile of clay disappearing into the peat moss. He was shocked and then told us he had almost parked his dozer in that saw area because it was out of sight from the road and would keep people from messing with the dozer. We all surmised that his dozer would have probably disappeared the same way the pile of clay had.

When you said one straight line of the deck wench , I said what with all those trees , come on man, snatch blocks! Go easy on the equipment! Was glad to see that you did use them ! Could not tell if you snubbed to trees or the back of the Hett As always great job , well done. The old dozer sounds like it could use some major work , don’t seem to have much snuff .

Most people would charge more than a regular rescue service that’s already super expensive because they know no one else will do it or it’s difficult. I'm a retired 88M from the U.S. Army. I use to operate the super het. It you were to cross your wench cables you will get better left and right movement on operations.

I just saw those spike bold caps on the truck at 2:10 - In Germany the technical inspection service would never allow those since someone could get hurt on them. Ever since I learned that I wonder how poking yourself on a spike could be the main issue when you accidentally fall into a spinning wheel of a truck. This regulation makes so sense to me. Great content, tho.
