What's worse is the production staff purposely put that scene on the show fully knowing how they basically just made Akane, a highschooler, as the walking target.

I think the insane thing is that literally everyone who's actually in Akane's life, her mom, castmates, manager, even Yuki, are on her side. They're even trying to checkup on her. Just shows that it's hard to know how someone is really doing or feeling.

yeaaa. it shows that some people cant let their eyes away from public opinion even they got closer ones that look up to them. so it is important to be aware of our friends and family behaviour bcs they mostly would hide their feeling if they got problem even you think you care enough about them 🥲

I honestly have not felt emotions like this from an anime in such a long time, the Realism in this anime is unmatched, the ending made me tear up, I was saying in my head "please don't let it happen, please don't" The ending sequence with Aqua was so well done, made me shed some tears, this anime is something incredible, Akane's this episode, this anime just keeps getting better and better, when an anime can make viewers sit and contemplate about these topics while evoking these discussions and emotions, just shows how amazing this anime is Edit:your reaction > the last sequence really hit deep, really love your channel

This why I like aqua bro, mans want revenge and can be cold but he went all the way there to save Akane and can be comical and smile at times. This why I don’t consider him one of those “emo” characters , he’s just a little mentally messed up from seeing Ai die right in front of him unlike ruby who just heard everything, which is why she’s more outgoing than him. But this series honestly has me hooked every week

Sad thing is people's opinion does really matter for Akane and people of her jobs. I'm pretty sure most of people know basically nothing about Johnny Deep, yet majority people who talk about his divorce case act like omniscient sage, and we can see how become of his career right now.

The reason they couldn't say what happened after the accident was because, contractually, they couldn't talk about things that didn't happen in the show. So they showed the accident, but not the make up, so they couldn't talk about it

Sadly this episode is directly based on Hana Kimura, who took her life after being severely cyber bullied for a similar situation on the reality show Terrace house. Unlike Akane, she didn’t have an Aqua who was there for her. The chapter has a dedication to her at the end and was released 2 weeks after her passing.

There's only one problem with public opinion: you may not care about it, but you'll have plenty of problems either way. It's unbearable to lose your job that you loved and worked hard on because you was cancelled (even though it's all lie or misunderstanding). And we've seen it in real life, all of it, and with a lot of different outcomes...

They put in a contract with the cast that doesn't leak situations that didn't go on air. Perhaps this is a clause to prevent the cast, who were friendly on the show, from saying, "It's actually all a lie and acting~" on their SNS or channel. But this ultimately prevented Akane from revealing her reconciliation with Yuki to the public, making her apology less persuasive.

Aka put this in a month after Hana's death. A lot of the tweets you saw were the real thing Hana saw on her phone and computer. Aqua was there to save Akane because this is fiction and the hero comes just in the nick of time. Realty many suicides the cry for helps comes way too late and even worse the ones that show no signs that look happy one day and the next they are gone because they wore that mask so well. This gets you really thinking about life and how real life can really swallow you hole.
@Bishaps
@Bishaps Год назад
I think she screamed more because of a fact, that she thought she was being grabbed by a hater, so once Aqua said, that he is not her enemy and she recognized his voice she got back to her senses. She didn't really want to die, its just that she got to that mental state, to the weak point, where she as she said "didn't want to think". Its this astral state, when you act as if you are possessed. Its similar to how chronic depression works right, you don't really make that decision to end your life, people with such illness usually chose to fight, and to live despite the fact that they can't ever be happy, and when they unfortunately get to that moment of weakness, whether its because of the disease itself, if we talk about chronic depression, or certain events like in Akane's case, they simply can't understand what they are about to do.

This episode made my heart ache, and I nearly cried. Unfortunately those in real life don't have an Aqua to save them last minute, or watch over them they go silent alone. So I'm happy they included a helpline at the end of the credits, people most know they aren't alone no matter how alone you feel.

I think a big part of the strength of this episode is that moment with Akane on the bridge. You might not be as worried and consider more the possibility of her just getting saved or anything if it wasn't for the fact that they already killed 3 characters in episode one, 2 of which weren't even 20yo

This episode is one of the most personally meaningful and important pieces of storytelling I have ever seen. it doesn't matter how many times I see it, it always gets me. The depiction of Akane's mental state is so alarmingly authentic that as someone who has been there, it felt like it was a narration of my own thoughts. When she says "I am so tired of thinking, I just want to stop thinking" that gets me. And her scream at the end is just... yeah. It's an amazing episode for an amazing character in an amazing show, and your reactions as heartfelt, honest, vulnerable. I really enjoyed it, and I will be watching more of your stuff from here on out.

Some people who dont know the context of the akane arc might shrug this epsiode off and say that it's over exaggerated but ironically this arc was written one month after this happened to a pro wrestler starring in a Japanese netflix show. The situation is almost a 1:1 recreation of the catalyst and online mob, the only difference is that she didn't have an aqua to save her and ended up taking her life

Great commentary, thank you. I know this anime, and the story is very enjoyable, but I am amazed at all of the subjects this, thoughtfully touches. Why I feel no teens should be exposed to social media until at least 17 or 18, as many doctors have pushed for. You, awakeprod, are much more mature, intelligent, and strong willed, then the teens in a reality show... reality shows that are happening all around the world, .... in real life, with real lives at stake. Haunting anime, I hate it, love it, love that any mass media, makes me/you feel anything.

Of course there was a rational way of disputing that conflict in the show, but you know obviously we need the plot. However, I'm appreciative of this episode for the plot that's displayed, that is a very serious topic in the entertainment industry of many cultures around the world it's rather a common stigma. I want people to realize how easy it is to break someone down on the internet, cause it's not just the hate in itself, but the numbers of people who hate. One comment is one comment to you, but to that creator whether they deserve it or not, hate piles on like a fuckin mountain.

You gave some really valid points, but you also have to remember and put into considerstion that Akane is a highschooler. I dont think anyone in that age has enough experience, mental maturity, and mental capacity to "just ignore them". Especially not here in the east where your image to others holds more value than, I'd say the west. Even moreso in Japan, a collectivists society. Stand out too much and you'll be looked at with questioning gazes, or in worse cases like Akane's, hateful glares of ignorance. That's also why Akane can't exactly "go out with your friends", remember that she's a celebrity, an actress. One whose currently on a pretty big dating reality show on TV. Going out in that circumstance is like asking people to (metaphorically) stone you.

A slightly interesting thought for anyone who get criticism is I’ve been thinking of typing a super dumb joke after people watch this episode. The joke would go something like “I wish u would become not alive… so that u could be reincarnated as my child and I could love u even more” but I never post that because of the fear that someone would only read the first part and disregard the joke of it. Now ffw to a day when I am having a horrible day and I see someone has an opinion that I disagree with my thoughts turn vitriolic so fast that my normal self wouldn’t ever recognize a comment I make as being from the same person. My point is If u see a comment that u feel is disgusting then instead of taking it to heart feel sorry for that person because their life is probably hell or at the very least disregard it completely because almost no one actually cares about someone they barely know. Especially not to the degree to actually give proper “constructive criticism”.

Thank you for noticing that Japanese manga and anime always look at the subtleties of the human heart.

The most sad part of this is, it's base on a true story.

Was it an accident, though? Could it perhaps have been a setup? Cause the episode gives so much focus to the shiny object put on the nails. I'm not saying it was a setup, just that the episode gave special treatment to the nail scene. Maybe it was just foreshadowing, though. Of course I'm not saying everything was premeditated, it is just that the object was put there with the hope that something dramatic would happen.

from the start, akane should have just left his agency, moreover, the 80:20 split was impudent, although I don't know how the agency works

Why do the morals and decency that exist in the real world collapse on the anonymous Internet? I think it's because people who are smoldering in the depths of society who have accumulated stress that they never meet in the real world are active on the Internet. Also, on the Internet, it is not possible to determine whether the other party is a child or an adult. Adults can't stop children from ranting.
